  1. Thanks everyone . I talked to me PCP and she went over the results with me. The medical assistant in the plastic surgeons office told me both my blood and urine came back positive and I should get OTC gum or Patches, which I don't need because I don't smoke! but my PCP told me only my urine was positive but with only a small amount which would indicate exposure to smoke not that I actually smoke. Which makes more sense because I'm around a lot of secondhand smoke. I just think it was rude the medical assistant didn't want to listen to me at all, like I was making excuses, no I was Justin trying to understand why it would be positive. Needless to say I have to wait another 6 weeks to be retested. Which is ridiculous.

  2. I had gastric sleeve In 2018. I was 232 I'm now 127. I have excess skin on my stomach I saw a plastic surgeon to see about having it removed. They did a nicotine test, which I thought no big deal because I've never smoked. It came back positive for continine! I'm in shock, I asked the lady how's that possible because I don't smoke nor have I ever but I'm around a lot of secondhand smoke and I roll my husband tobacco so I'm always handling it thinking maybe that's it. She says no and that I need to quit but how am I supposed to quit something I don't do?? Has this happened to anyone? I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do.

Mine started falling out a couple of weeks ago, and I get great clumps in the shower. Luckily, while my hair is quite fine, I had a ton of it. So the thinning of it has not rendered me bald - yet. :) My stylist cut it differently to take advantage of how thin it is getting, and that helped.

My understanding is the the Hair loss will stop eventually - isn't that right?

Mine has always been thin plus i have PCOS which I've always lost a little due to that but now i just want it to stop before i have Patches lol. I'm sure stressing out about it doesn't help but it's hard not to. Other then that everything overall has been going great! I'm down 78lbs and have 4lbs to go before my final goal weight.

  4. I'm 5 months out today. Mine started falling out at month 3. I really hope it lets up soon it's kinda stressing me out now. I use Biotin and a special Shampoo. I try not to bush it everyday or put it up so it's not stressed. When did it usually start to stop for people? I heard around the 6th month. I hope that's true! Any longer I'm gonna have to look into wigs.

  5. Thanks everyone! Yes i drink more then enough Water, i get all my protien and taking my Vitamins i think i do need to up my plant type protien though. I miss salads but haven't dared to try lettuce yet. I don't do nuts yet and i hate salt i never add it to my foods and pay attention to sodium. It's not a UTI and they took blood test to check my kidney functioning they says it could be a very tiny stone enough to cause issued but not a lot of pain.

  6. Hi! I'm 10 weeks post op down 54lbs! Everything has been going great so far until Tuesday...i took a nap during that hour i woke up needing to pee so bad i thought I'd pee my pants lol did my business then 10 min later the feeling came back and i mean like you gotta pee so bad like the urgency is real it happened like that two more times in that hour n a half then went away later that day i went potty and noticed my urine looked brown the next time i caught it in a plastic cup and it was really dark, i went to the ER they checkedmy urineand it didn't sore any signs of a. UTI they told me it could be too early to detect or it could be that i passed a stone or have one that made a lesion in my bladder. Also quick note a few days prior to this I did have on and off sharp pains near my kidneys but nothing excruciating and yesterday a few jabs here and there. Anyway still have blood in my urine so I'm off to my docs today to hopefully figure it out. Are stones common after surgery? Anyone else have issues with them?

  7. I'm 5 weeks post op and Feeling great so far! I'm down 22 lbs since surgery and total 39lbs since the start of my pre op diet. I went from 232 to currently 193! I'm learning which foods i can eat and thing i can no longer tolerate or no longer like. I drink mostly Water and milk i haven't found any drinks that i really like. All the sugar free drinks don't sit well since surgery. How are you other April sleevers doing?

  8. I'm 4 weeks post op, i have no restrictions now as long as i chew my food very well and only try one new food a day and of course no Pasta, rice, breads sweets ect...the obvious stuff.. Certain cheeses is the only thing that has upset my stomach so far. Also curious as to how much were you eating at this point? I know everyone if different and heals different just an overall general question. I can get about 3tbsp in if i take my time and stretch it over 45min. liquids go down pretty smooth and can take decent size sips now. The only think that suck is not enjoying a hot meal lol due to having to wait in between bites, my food gets cold and re heating it causes it to dry out. I definitely hit my 3week stall which I'm not too concerned about from all that I've read on here. Slow And steady. I've been walking a mile everyday with my boys and dogs. I have my first nutrition appt this week since surgery.

I'm in the same boat! I had my sleeve 4/10 and after the weeks 1 and 2 diet I dropped something like 14 pounds in 2 weeks. I was over the moon! I just went for a non-bariatric appointment today and when they weighed me I've only lost 2 pounds since 4/20. I was losing that much when I was dieting prior to surgery. I was expecting to be dropping weight like crazy these first couple weeks.

Full disclosure, I've had some stuff I'm not supposed to yet. Both liquid and non liquid. I'm SUCH an emotional eater. And after a rough day I've grabbed a tastycake from Wawa. Again, I don't make this a habit, and usually can't eat the whole thing. Also, Before surgery I was a coke zero fiend, not so much for the taste, but the caffeine. I'm pretty much useless before I've had any caffeine. I almost fell asleep on my way to work the other day because I've been trying to be good. But I've "cheated" a few times (I'd say no more than 5 times) by getting a chai tea latte or a diet Snapple. After all these trangressions, I immediately beat myself up about it. Like full on shame spiral. That usually whips me back into shape on the food front for a bit.

I know I'm self sabotaging, but after 2 weeks prior to surgery nothing but Protein Shakes and then Clear Liquids and Soup for 2 weeks after, I cannot force another shake down my throat. Also, I've tried tuna salad and got horribly sick from it. I finally got to the ricotta bake and chili, which should help, but still no "hard" Protein tolerance.

I've set up an alarm on my phone to remind me to drink, but let me tell you its a second full time job trying to get the bare minimum in. I'm just getting sad and discouraged that I went through all of this and then it won't work.

I was sleeved on 4/10 also. I went into surgery weighing 215 at my 2week post op apt i was 199 and as of this morning i am 196. This week has been slow but that's ok, it's the 3rd week And I've heard it happens around this time. I haven't cheated at all i honestly don't dare to eat anything that's not on my list of soft/puree foods. Have i had cravings for the not so good things....absolutely but I'm more afraid of not succeeding that i ingnore those cravings. I've been drinking Water all day and have 3 cups of fairlife fat free milk throughout the day (1c has 13g of protien) and that's pretty much it. I have no interest in drinking anything Crystal light related right now lol. I don't do the shakes at all anymore they make me sick. I'd love to just have a glass of Apple juice lol. Chin up, look at the end goal, this to shall pass!

  10. I am a stickler for following the rules especially with a surgery like this. I go by my booklet i was given with the phases and list of foods I'm allowed. It tells me what weeks i can moved on if I'm comfortable. I have no interest in pushing the limits and figure I'll let my body do it's thing and just heal.

  11. I was sleeved 4/10 and I'm on soft/pureed there's no way i could put down 5oz much less in 5 min. Today i had 1 egg for Breakfast, a slice of deli Turkey and a small piece of cheese for lunch, and 2tbsp of yogurt for snack. i can get down 2tbsp of food as long as i take small bites and go slow. I would slow down on the intake 3weeks out your stomach is still healing i would be afraid of eating to much and creating a leak.

That is really informative thank you. I guess it just threw me off since my last nutritionist appt she showed me a plate (it was the typical size of an appetizer or dessert/childs plate and said that is about the size meal i would eventually be eating so i guess, as time goes by your new stomach stretches? But until then yes chewing and taking breaks definitely. It must be hard to get enough Water daily just taking tiny sips! That will be difficult for me i drink a ton of Water even before considering surgery I did, and i drink it fast. I have to break that habit!

In the first week it was very tiny sips but gradually I've been able to take in bigger sips at a time with no problem. You'll know if the sips are too big!

I dont know if you have the answer to thos question but i thought of it after reading your response--why can you eat so little post op? After the first 2 weeks of course while its healing up, shouldnt you be able to eat normal bariatric sized portions? Or are you still healing for much longer after that? You said you can only have a few tablespoons per meal, does the stomach stretch a little bit as time goes by and you can increase meal sizes?

I'm still healing and takes more than 2 weeks to fully heal and you def don't want to push it. My nutritionist said in the beginning i wouldn't be able to fit much in my new pouch, boy was she right! Eventually I should be able to eat 1/2c to a full cup during meals but for now I'm not forcing it I'm just listening to my body. I am not a graceful puker, I'm like the exorcist so i avoid that at all cost.

  14. Hi! I'm 2.5 weeks post op. The first week was rough everything hurt i used a walker the first 4 days. If i stood to long it felt like my stomach was filled with bricks. Walking and sipping is what my days consisted of, i had to do 2 weeks of Clear Liquids i could not tolerate the protien shakes our powder so getting my protien in the first 2weeks was really hard. I just went to puree/soft food 3 days ago i can only eat about 2tbsp each meal, i did get a whole egg in today. Eat slow chew well. Good luck!
