    LET'S TACKLE FALL CHALLENGE

185.2- Had a bad day yesterday- had been 184.4 but ate too much sodium yesterday and think I'm retaining water sadly. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 184 GW 135
  2. How are you feeling now? I also had oxygen issues and had to come home on it, but was off within a couple of weeks. Congrats on your surgery! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135
  3. Not since surgery but have had them forever- Question- are you having issues with constipation? That can definitely cause hemorrhoids- if you are having a lot of pain proctofoam is an expert that helped me years ago- when pregnant I had awful fissures internally and it was the only thing that helped. Sitz baths in hot water a few times a day as well . I am so sorry you have to go through this! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

    Judge me, seriously.

Maybe add a lo calorie snack- I'm 12 weeks out this week- I eat 700-800 cal daily . If I feel hungry I eat a piece of fruit or cheese or protein bar (or half of one). I usually do a premier protein shake for breakfast. Some turkey and cheese or fruit for lunch and something with protein for dinner- maybe a skinny cow ice cream or yogurt for a snack. I've been told we should eat 3 times per day and maybe a snack too. If I'm feeling really hungry and I'm not sure why I'll have part of a protein shake. Do you have a nutritionist? Check in with them too. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

    Chest Pain After Eating

I get shoulder pain- that's even weirder! Doc says it's referred pain due to gas. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

    Eating out

I am the same way. Husband had surgery 11 years ago and also doesn't like eating with people because it causes him to eat too quickly and gives him stomach problems. I think I feel like it's a waste of money for me- may just start eating before hand and drinking at the restaurant Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

    In uncomfortable pain

Ok so I suffered horribly the. One day I didn't get to eat all day so when I picked up my daughter from her job at mcdonalds she got in the car with a cheeseburger. I took a tiny bite and chewed it super well...20 min later no constipation! Not that I'm recommending it but it did help. And I learned hat fast food except for Wendy's chili and chick fil a grilled nuggets are off limits for me. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

    Someone help me.

I am always hungrier at work or I should say my head is always hungrier at work. I don't know why! I try to keep a couple of protein shakes in my desk for those occasions- a protein shake seems to stave off the head hunger for me. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135
  9. I haven't blacked out but sugar alcohol ( something in sugar free sweeteners) makes me dizzy and I sways and I get the sweats- I have felt like I was going to pass out though . I hope you don't get it again! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

Learning to take care of ME ...

I'm right there with you. I have 4 kids and a husband. I've never taken care of myself or out myself first. It feels strange to do that. It's kind of fun though. I'm enjoying getting myself ready for work and not fretting about clothes. I've gotten a new haircut and some new makeup. I still take care of my family , but I'm not putting myself last anymore. I think you might feel the same way once you are post surgery. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

    Surgery Update

Try some peppermint tea for both nausea and gas. It really helped me! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135
  12. I was told that it pushes the food through more quickly and will cause hunger sooner. At the start our stomachs are the size of a straw and will stretch and heal to the size of a banana. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

    Never not hungry.

I think about food a lot too. Especially when I am at work. When I'm home I can get busy with things that interest me more. Not sure why work is so hard but it is! I feel like I just focus on food all the time! I'm doing pretty low carb- under 80 per day and calories are averaging around 600-700 I think I'm almost 12 weeks out. I need to count it up again. Losing weight which is what keeps me motivated. It to graze constantly. No, this is not easy. Only people who have no idea what it's really like will say this is the easy way out . For me it was the only way out of obesity, but it's definitely not easy. I will say in. It always hungry physically , but sometimes I am very hungry. And I do think about eating something decadent, but thankfully I don't do it. I have fallen a couple of times and ate a mcflurry once and a krispy cream once. Unfortunately sugar doesn't bother me at all. It has to be will power that keeps me from it. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135

    LET'S TACKLE FALL CHALLENGE

    Today 9/1/17 185.8 Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135
  15. I've had a few rough days lately. Emotional eating. Kept the calories under 1000 but blew it by not eating protein first and eating some totally worthless, empty high sugar foods. I had a krispy cream donut one day and a mcdonalds ice cream cone another. It didn't make me eat more that day but I sure felt awful emotionally- not physically- I had no nausea or anything else. I wish I had. It made me feel like this is going to be a bigger battle than I thought. I'm still losing- in fact it has been a good couple of weeks as far as weight loss goes. I know I just have to keep that crap out of my life. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 185 GW 135
  16. I'm 11 weeks post op and have been super tired the last 3-4 weeks because I picked up my walking and working out. It does take a long time to get our energy built back up Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 188 GW 135
  17. Track track track!!! I read an article bout how to maintain weight loss after vsg on bariatric life magazine. Said keep up 64 oz fluids, keep liquid and food separate, track food, low carb. Basically make sure you keep up the protocol we get at the beginning. I hope this helps. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 188 GW 135
  18. By 8 weeks I was released without restriction to exercise- up until then 10 lb lift restriction. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 188 GW 135

    Count all carbs

I track everything I put in my mouth. Are you pre surgery? That's different. I'd do net carbs pre surgery. Post surgery just count everything. Post Surgery: My doc & nutritionist said to keep the sugar grams under 7 other than that I only really watch the protein because protein and water are the most important and post surgery we don't have room for much if we are sticking to the protein first and enough water rule. I have a lot of trouble getting my water in. Today has been a good one though because I know I'm on the verge of dehydration and have been drinking a lot.

    Water! Water! Water!

thank you FabNFit@40! I'm getting it right now!
  21. Yes- it's awful! My husband and I both had it after surgery- lasted a week or so I think. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 188 GW 135

    Sleeve vs RNY

I hope I did not offend you. Not my intention at all. In all of my research I read that complications with VSG are rare. My experience with RNY and my husband was just awful. We went to a center of excellence and he still had multiple complications. We did have different surgeons as well. My surgeon said that with VSG there are not prescription restrictions as with RNY (no nsaids), though my surgeon says nsaids are fine I read here that some with VSG are not allowed to take them. Also, vitamin malabsorbtion after RNY is a known issue, not so with VSG. I know that weight loss is usually higher with RNY so there are definitely benefits to both. Good advice to talk with your surgeon. I KNOW I am BIASED, due to experience. I know that some have a great experience with RNY - just not my husband. He did lose the weight, but it has been a long haul.

    Sleeve vs RNY

I had reflux before visa and did the sleeve with no problems at all. My hubby had rny 11 years ago he had reflux before and after. His recovery was awful with lots of complications. I am biased. Vsg wins hands down for me. So many fewer complications and long term consequences seem better- i.e., vitamin absorption and medication restrictions aren't a problem. That's my 2 cents.
