Hi. I meet with my primary doctor on the 7th. I called metroplus and they told me that they do the 6 month requirement and i. Really dont want to try another 6 months because i have been struggling with this since i was 16 :( i need some guidance please

    Hey Johanna,

I understand your struggle 100 percent but here is what I think you should do. you have done a huuuuge step even though you might not notice it, * you actually realized that you have a problem with obesity and you want to change* try not to put so much pressure on your self because you might end up getting very frustrated and end up consoling your self with more food. I think you should look for a good surgeon and go to a seminar and see if you really want surgery. The way I saw the 6-month weigh-in was a tool to mentally prepare me for my new life. During these six months, you should start making changes in your eating habits and your lifestyle in general. The time will go by extremely fast. You have this forum along with your bariatric team for support. You are not alone.

I am currently in my 2nd month of UnitedHealthCare required doctor monitored 6 month diet before surgery.

Does anyone have tips on this? How to answer the Doctor on what to do? WHAT to do without loosing TOO much without being denied by falling under the 40BMI required? I actually think I gained this month!! And I’m struggling with 5 more months of “diet and exercise tips” to tell the doctor... or is that actually the reality??

Please Help I’m new and confused

Hey!!! I was actually dealing with this same problem. In fact, on my last weight in had lost 6-7 pounds and managed to stayed exactly on 243- with a bmi of ***40.6** . Believe it or not meal prepping will save your life during these 6 months . I stopped drinking juice, bread etc. I would make fresh juice with some kale etc when I wanted juice . I would eat oatmeal in the morning with some fruits , and tea(a bit of honey) , chicken breast ( or ground turkey) and a small amount of rice and a side of vegetables, sometimes I would have farina and alooot of Water and ***teaaaa specially chai or black tea with milk( loove it ) . Good luck . Time will fly .

I had surgery (12/17) in the last 3 weeks I have been experiencing increasing heart rate when standing up as well as feeling Short of breath and dizziness. Has anyone else had this problem?

I read in another post that dizziness, fast heart rate and difficulty breathing are associated with dehydration. My surgeon also told if I felt any of those symptoms including, fever and chills to go to the emergency room asap. Good luck.

  4. Im on day 4 of 14 WHOOOhooooo . In Gods name I will not cheat. this diet is supposed to shrink your liver, clean your colon and also help you adapt to what your new life will look and feel like (with your new stomach and body!!) try not to cheat your self. Today was one of the hardest days for me. I really wanted to eat peanuts, kale anythiiiiiiiinnng but nop I thought about my repercussions. I believe they will cancel surgery if u don't lose from 8-10 pounds. Best of luck. We are all here for each other !!!

Should I call before or after my consultation with the surgeon?

Your doc should give you a folder with all his requirements . He should know what are the requirements for your particular insurance. You should call your insurance to double check that they do pay for bariatric. BELIEVE ME TIME GOES BY SUPEr fast . Good luck.

You should have a specific list from your surgeon and/or your nutritionist. However, stage one is Clear Liquids only, while stage two generally includes Protein Shakes, sugar-free Jello and popsicles and fudgesicles, and cream Soup (without any pieces or chunks of food--blend it if you have to). sugar-free yogurt might be allowed; check your list.

    Awesome . Thank You!

Yup! . My BMI was 40.6 when my surgeon submitted my papers to insurance and they approved me with no problem. I have no co-morbidities. Good luck 🍀
