Okay this is the sleeve procedure in which they just staple the stomach from the inside and they do not remove that portion routinely taken in the surgical sleeve surgery. The pros for this less invasive and less recovery time but the cons to this, the staples are inside your stomach and there is little research on the long term outcomes.
Hmmm? If so, it's very new and you should be careful. The VSG is the newest most chosen procedure now and some surgeons are still suggesting the full gastric bypass....
Please contact other bariatric centers for factual information on the procedure before opting to do something so life changing. Best of luck to you. I just got sleeved and I'm feeling really good about my choice. This is not easy no matter what you decide.

Hey don't worry, the stomach heals during the recovery. I'm 4 weeks post op and I feel great. Having to get used to eating again...slowly adding foods for energy to workout.
Take your time during recovery and REST.....your body will tell you if anything is wrong.
    Best thing ever done!!!
Down 60lbs in all since pre-op.
    Best wishes! Val Carson

Hey, I saw "stitched" and the only concern is that there'sno data yet but a much less invasive procedure.
The balloon however is not gotten good reviews, similar to lapband reviews. Nevertheless, best wishes no matter we choose, it's a lifestyle change and it all takes hard work. So get ready for your new life!!! Yayyy!!

I replied to this thread already but I wanted to come in and update my answer. Before the surgery, only a few people knew. The person covering for me at work, my husband and my super close friends. I didn't even tell my parents.
I had no intention of telling anyone else. This was for me and if anyone asked, I'd say I finally found something that worked.
A week or so post-op, I had changed my mind. If anyone asked me I would tell them the truth, though I wouldn't volunteer it.
Today is my 2-month surgiversary and I am just giving this information to anyone. Random waiter? "I had surgery, can I see the kid's menu please?" Coworkers asking if I'm okay from my medical leave? "I am! I had bariatric surgery!" My in laws and parents know. Random strangers know. I never thought I'd be the person to be like this. Weight has always been such a sensitive topic for me. Yet for some reason, I want people to know and I'm thrilled to share.

I wish you all the best. Thus group has been a good support to me because not all my friends and family understand what this feels like. So emotionally, just try to stay focused and do reach out to people that have similar issues and that may help. I'm 5 days post op and I'm doing well. I do have a lot of support but I'm Journaling to help with emotions!!

Djmohr, thank you so much. I'm going to skip the tempura. It's not worth getting sick. chicken and I are fond of each other so I will stick with that. Thank you ????

I actually went to Benihana with my family when I was about 6 weeks out myself. I went for chicken because I know my pouch tolerates it very well. Of course they always give you those couple of shrimp as an appetizer as well so I tried a piece knowing by the time my chicken and vegetables came I would be full.
My husband ordered the hibachi fried rice and I did taste a forkful of that as well. The issue with rice is that it fills your pouch fast and does not last long which could make you hungry again in short order.
It is best to stick with the Protein and vegetables to ensure you get your Protein in, but it won't hurt to try a very small bite of rice.
I personally would not touch the tempura out in a restaurant until you have some idea of how your stomach reacts. It would be bad to ruin your night by getting sick.
By the way, I had so much food leftover that I took it home and vacumn sealed it into small portions. Then when I wanted a nice lunch or dinner I pop them into boiling Water for a few minutes to warm it up. It stays moist and tasty!
Good luck and have a great time out!

Val Rennee reacted to B-52 in Hibachi - not sure what to eat
Thing about a Hibachi is you don't have to eat much...they put a little of each thing in front of you, one at a time, and you only have to nibble at it...
Eat what you normally eat....don't know if you're counting calories or not...
Me...I would eat a little of everything...(except red meat and rice, maybe noodles)...that is how I live my life now...moderation, and a lot less than what I used to...

Hello! If privacy matters that much then I respect your position because people can be negative but I'm different, I told my closest male friend first then my special co-workers but I'm very vocal about it because I have so many people in my circle and extended that need to know that this is a healthy positive event choice.
I feel I have inspired someone by telling which can bring much needed support..THIS IS NOT EASY!
Best wishes to you and your success! !!

Since I had my hiatal hernia repair at the same time that I had my sleeve surgery, I told just a few people that I had the sleeve surgery. I figure it's my own business pretty much: except here, where I feel completely safe to share & learn from everyone on their journeys.

I rarely get asked any questions. People just assume that I cut back on food.< br /> I no longer have Breakfast or a 'proper' lunch at work.
I've been posting work outs stats, pics from soccer games since 2015, so my activity levels have never been called into question. Only 3 friends and 2 family members know.
    That's good enough for me.

Yup I bought the KFC mashed potatoes and they are soooo good. I also bought a small cup of Chili's baked potato Soup and mashed the potatoes in it and it was delicious.

Hello! Yes I did Protein Shakes mostly because I didn't like the broth much. I did a MISO Soup mix from Kroger and it was good just had to watch the sodium intake to keep from retaining Fluid.
Correction, it is IdealShape Protein Shake mix. Go online it's a good value and taste good. Now I'm finding that post -op it is too much to drink with regular serving so I have been doing ready-made Protein shakes like slimfast, special K, and premier which has the most protien. I'm having problems with pureed foods, I have to work on that.
But my pre-op success really boosted me. The exercise helped tremendously to reached pre-surgery goal.

Not me, I wanna scream it from the top of the roof. But I just found out my cousin had it 2 years ago and told nearly no one. People just kinda thought she used meds or went on a low carb diet. For the first time in her life she reached healthy weight, but she had been able to go below 200 before with dieting. So everyone thought she just did that again. I was pleasantly surprised when she told me the other day, thinking that explains ALOT I wouldn't worry to much, IF people start asking. Just tell the you are trying out low carb diet or something.

SO glad things went well for you. Did you follow the 2 week liquid diet? 1 week full liquid and 1 week clear liquid?? I start the liquid diet on Tuesday , July 4th, ugh! Please keep me posted on your recovery. I am so glad to find someone with the same Doctor. I will follow your journey and progress and learn from someone that has been through what I am going to go through soon. Best of luck on this remarkable journey.
