My pre-op diet was 10 days was mainly the shakes, 3-4 a day with a maximum of 4 cups of veggies (non-starchy) and unlimited clear liquids. Day before surgery was clear liquids only. Post op - 8 weeks Days 1-6 clear liquids only Days 6-19 full liquids with protein shakes Days 20 - 33 pureed with 2 protein shakes as snacks per day Days 34 - 56 soft foods Day 57 and on regular food avoiding red meat, pasta and rice. I've seen a lot of diets with people starting soft foods on day 20 so I am not sure but I'm sticking pretty close to my Doctor's orders. My calorie intake is roughly 600 per day and 68 gms protein. Very little sugar (maybe 6 grams) and lower carb.

Honestly, I think the gas is the worst part. The good news is, it does get better. A LOT better. I'm 3 weeks post-op today and the gas is still there, but not painful and not as bad/frequent. I can take hefty sips of water and ate nearly a full cup of greek yogurt last night with no discomfort. It seems like it takes forever for you to adjust to new foods but trust me, it happens and you keep moving forward. For the gas, try chewable Gas-X. It gave me a lot of relief. Pain gets better. I promise! I am 20 days post op and feel great. Around day 14 pain gets much better. I can take very big sips of water, eat yogurt and very soft eggs with no issues. Headache could be from the narcotic. Try straight Tylenol. Also look into getting a belly binder. It helps keep those muscles tight so you don't have to. Ice packs also feel good. Stay focused on the end game. It's worth it!

Looking for a sleeve buddy. Surgery is June 28,2017
I second guessed right up until they gave me the happy juice and I am so glad I did it. I'm already down 15 lbs in 18 days and my energy is through the roof. First few days are rough and every stage is a bit tough at the beginning but it gets better every day. I got out a tote full of clothes that 3 months ago were way too small. Today they fit or are a bit too big. Best thing I ever did for myself!!!

Very true. I remember drinking water hurt. Now I take some pretty big sips and I am fine. Full liquids I do great. Puréed has been tough but like the rest, I am sure it gets better with time. Had a fried egg just now and that seems to be settling well. I chewed it a lot though. Tried some baby food tonight. Won't be doing that again.

I've been the opposite. SO much energy but attribute that to my blood glucose being normal finally. Maybe when you add protein it will help. My first 4 days post op were tough but since I have been frustrated because I want to do so much and can't.

June sleeve buddies?
The gas for me was the worst part too. I used a lot of chewable gas-x that first week.

Water intake!
Just keep sipping, just keep sipping I'm 15 days and able to take pretty hefty sips. You'll get there too, promise! Did you try sugar free popsicles too? Are you drinking broth that has salt in it? I was really thirsty after but figured it was because I went from being hooked up to an IV for 1.5 days to not.
