  2. I had this issue early on, starting about 3 weeks post op. I was shaky, weak, any exertion made me feel like I was going to pass out.
But it was not calories I needed. I needed B12. I got a shot from my surgeon's office, and now I take sublingual B12 supplements.
I'm at 5.5 months post op, and my calories are very low. Most days I am around 400 calories. I have no issues with energy level at all.
Don't delude yourself into thinking, I need calories, I need sugar. That is just our brain that got us to the point of needing WLS telling us that. Get your Protein in, get your liquids in, talk to your Dr. about B12, and you will be fine [emoji4]
Wow thanks, never thought about B 12 I will tell him

  3. I struggle losing weight and keeping it off. I decided to have weight loss surgery thinking everything would be okay. I had 6 months to mentally and physically prepare myself for changing my eating habits by going to nutrition classes.

I went through my pre op diet thought I had the solution to losing weight (surgery)

On July 26, 2018 I was SLEEVED I was happy Yay! I did it! I thought my problems was over I have my TOOL that I being hearing about.

I wasn't prepared for my emotions after surgery.

Before surgery I dealt with my emotions by over eating food. I can't over eat any more.

l had no problems drinking shakes and sugar free.

I couldn't drink it after surgery I was burn out. My tast bud wasn't the same.

I thought to drink add sugar tea because I thought I needed to drink sugar for strength.

For to days I had 8 oz of sweet tea (BAD CHOICE )Remember I said I didn't have brain surgery. Someone here help me change my thinking. I stop drinking added sugar I had one 8oz of apple juice no added sugar really help me by going to the bathroom after 8 days of Constipation.< /p>

Now I can't stand nothing sweet no juice at all.

I started to have major problems drinking Water wasn't enough everything I would try to drink I couldn't do it. I'm struggling bad my body is weak beginning to shake. Soup, Protein Shake, Jello, popsicle wasn't going to WORK. I'm drinking lots of water but my body needed calories. I remembered I had a can of Beans I open it and cooked it. I strained the liquid and had 3 teaspoons of the liquid only. For the first time since surgery I slept last night like a baby I'm 9 days post op.

I go see my team Monday I don't have all the answers. I'm taking this day by day. Bean soup and water that's enough for me right now. Yes it have carbs. Next week I will stop eating bean soup and follow my post op second stage diet.

I will go to group meetings for wls, once a month.

There's going to be times that I fall but I will get up I'm human this is a new way of living. I'm 50 years old I can't wait to post pictures throughout my journey, stay tuned! Happy weight loss everyone we will crossed the finished line together!

  4. Have you thought about using "no sugar added" food items? Still a little sugar but nowhere near the amount as in regular foods. My problem was the taste of the artificial sweeteners in the sugar free items. Couldn't tolerate it at all. I ate a lot of Outshine no sugar added popsicles during the first weeks. Glad you reached out to your team!
No more added sugar I found other way to bring my sugar level up

My crystals lights was too sweet to drink etc. That's a good idea I'm going to get apple juice no added sugar also 100% juice popsicle no added sugar. Thanks I that really would help me.

  6. I know that everyone is different, but by 5 days post-op, I was getting 64oz of liquid daily. By what you've written, it sounds like you're not getting much more than 8. Is that correct?

I'm with the others on your sugar intake. If you're getting in other liquids, why would you need the added sugar? It doesn't make any sense to me. You should be able to get more liquids in without having to add the excess sugar.
I'm getting more liquids than 8 oz it's not 64 oz I was to weak I needed to take in a little sugar in 8 oz tea. That will not prevent me from losing weight. My sister had the bypass 10 years ago she understands. She went through it too she reach her goal. It's a little hard for me I'm 50 years old I reach out to my team today. This is the beginning like you said everyone is different.

  7. Our bodies react to high consumption of sugar, and the kidneys react too. Sugar makes the pancreas pump out insulin in response, so the liver isn't the only organ affected by sugar/carbs. Do some reading. And your taste buds getting accostumed to all that sugar makes you just want more sugar.
Is it the taste of artificial sweetners that made you not drink liquids? Try broth or tea instead.
I'm drinking broth etc. I don't want more more sugar. I just trying to get through my liquids stage. It's funny my pre op I had no problems I did everything sugar free everything and loss 30lbs in the process. The key was I was drinking over a gallon of liquids a day. Just to drink 8 oz drink takes a while.I understand how it may look it hard for anyone to understand.

  8. So what are you going to be drinking during the purée stage?
I certainly would restrict intake of sugar but to each their own.
    Good luck.
My pureed stage will be yogurt, fish, chicken avocado etc.(that's on my plan) I will be able to have more than liquids. I have diet drinks that I will drink. Remember I'm only doing 8 oz of reg tea a day to help me. I was to weak I'm sure my team would have agreed with me instead of me passing out of low sugar I had to what I needed to do. I know this is not heard of doing this is my journey I'm not promoting to give into sugar just sharing my experiences.

  9. I'm sorry you're dehydrated. But regular popsicles and Jello, lemonade have a lot of sugar. That is universally highly discouraged, if not out right banned post WLS.
I'd really encourage you to find another way to get hydration. You don't want to work against this amazing tool you now have.
It's only until for my first stage. I use splenda in my lemonade. I drink 8 oz of regular tea I know it's not popular but I had to do what can help me get through this stage. I might have regreats later but now I don't.

  10. Hi, in my pre op stage I purchased a lot of sugar free popsicle, Jello etc. Someone said don't buy so much, of course I didn't listen. I was doing good until after my surgery I tried my best to eat that sugar free I just couldn't. My 5th day post op I'm dehydrated. If I didn't eat regular popsicles and regular jello and drinking tea and lemonad. I would be back in the Hospital. I only have one kidney, that's working at 80%. I had to look at the whole picture the reason why I was going to the dietitian and sugar free diet was to shrink my liver. I'm over that stage now I'm trying to heal from surgery. I'm not worried about losing weight right now, that will come later. My doctor has me on 4wks light duty. That's the time I'm using to discover my relationship with food. Come up with a prep my food and excercise plan. I know some may not agree what I'm doing. I have to customize my weight loss journey for myself.

My pureed stage starts in 3 days that's when I will go back to diet drink because my liquids stage is over.

Now I have zero Powerade and sugar free items. I'm going to give away to my dietitian for patients. I'm so happy about this community we are learning together.

My plan 2 shakes a day = 60 grams of Protein and 64 oz of fluids Jello, Water, lemonade, popsicle, broth, for 10 days only. I'm 5 days post op haven't made goal yet, but I'm trying. The hardest thing for me is to eat when I'm not hungry there are times that 2 or 3 hrs will go by with nothing to drink.

  14. Hi, I'm thinking about seeing a dietitian for 12 more months.(More money I'm worth it!) I'm 5 days post op VSG. I want to take advantage of the first 12 months when you lose most of your weight. I'm thinking about getting a new dietitian that didn't put me on a diet to shrink your liver. I'm trying to see what's going to work for me. Aug. 26 Will be one month out that's when I can start going back to the gym and my weight loss journey begins for me mentally. Is there anybody will continue seeing a dietitian?

  15. Day 3 post surgery. Feeling pretty good. Having pain to the left of my belly button, about 2 inches below the big incision. Feels like a burning/searing pain when I engage my stomach muscles. Trying to take it easy. Focusing on liquids and Protein. Started on full liquids this morning. The premier caramel tasted like the best thing in the world after all that broth.
Question for all the post sleevers, how much do you aim to walk each day? I’m trying g to get up at least once an hour for at least 10 minutes. I live on the third floor, so walking outside right now isn’t an option.
I don't have a goal yet walking in my home is enough for now. My doctor have me on 4wks light activity

  16. I had surgery 7/24, drank Smooth Move tea with no results, finally had a dose of Milk Of Magnesia before bed last night and this morning 7/29 got great results with no straining.
My Dr office recommended MOM with prune juice but it worked for me without the juice.< br>I feel much better and relieved that all is working. Good luck.
Thanks for posting I got some Milk of magnesia today getting ready to take some. I think that's my major problem and the reason why it's hard to get fluids in.

  17. Well I had my surgery 7/27 7:30am and it lasted 2 hrs. I actually didn’t have to have my hernia repaired wasn’t that bad to be touched. I tolerated liquids once I woke up from surgery, no vomiting. Th next day while in Hospital I had purée stage and I measured my food by medicine cups (1oz), I sipped my liquids. I was able to go home Saturday 7/28 @9pm. I came home was able to lay on my sides or back not my stomach. Day 2 post-op I was able to tolerate scrambled egg 2oz, sipped Water after 30mins.. I took my blood thinner injection and my gallbladder medicine so it won’t get gallstones...I took my anti acid, I took my Vitamins spaced them out a few hours apart. I’m ao proud of myself I’m trying to pace myself Ms not so too much at too lil time. I hope anyone else who had hgastric Bypass is doing well also... I pray that as long as I continue to follow the Dr orders I be ok. And yes just Becuz your ouch will allow u I eat more doesn’t mean that you should... this is a tool have self control.
Wonderful to hear you're doing great! Keep it up! Best wishes to you as you continue to recover from surgery to discover a new way of living! Congrats
