    Need Puree Ideas

Found my tastes have changed too. I found the hummus has been pretty good and filling.
  2. This definitely isn't easy but certainly I could lose the weight without it. I often think I'm hungry but I listen to my body and it's like "meh" so I'm able to control it so much better than before. There's just so many triggers around us! I'm almost 6 weeks out and I do terrible at the water thing.

    How's everyone doing?

Oh my gosh, scrambled eggs post op after liquid diet are soooo good. Definitely start with just one egg (I could only eat 3-4 bites my first time) and take a small bite with lots of chews. I've moved up to 2-eggs with a little cheese on it and takes me about 45 minutes to eat but it's very good. FYI - I've found hard boiled eggs (no yolks) are tough on my stomach. Also, I was able to do low fat cottage cheese pretty easy. Glad you're okay now!
  4. No kidding, that was pretty annoying but understand it, however, I was freaked out about not walking so I just made a point walk every time they took my vitals! What annoyed me more was all the beeping and flashing lights of the machines! Didn't get any sleep but I was in only 1 night so not terrible. Glad that's over though
  5. I also find it difficult to take the vitamins but deficiency is a real deal so we need to figure it out. For calcium I take the Celebrate chewable, berry is the best, chocolate kind of tastes like dirt to me. Chewable multivitamin makes my throat burn so I just do a pill. I've just gotten on a schedule AM is X, Lunch is Y and Bedtime is Z. Good luck!

Have you tried the premier protein shakes? I really like the vanilla, try different flavors until you find one you like. Also, there is a product called isopure, which has a ton of protein and may flavors, I have to dilute with water because I don't like the taste. Also, you can get whey protein powder and make your own, just make sure to limit the sugar. As you know getting enough protein is super critical to our success. Good luck!

    Dumb move.

You are being way too hard on yourself but good to own up on mistakes. We all have and will make them. I've found this to be an exploratory journey and learning how/what to eat again. I was working sucking on an apple sauce pouch and ate it in like 5 minutes, 3.5oz, didn't think anything of it but then my stomach got super full after 15 minutes and I had to keep spitting in my trash can to avoid vomitting (TMI). I know I'll never do that again! BTW - congrats on the new job!

1 week post op dreaming about food

OMG, yes, I also had a dream about food when I was home recovering on liquid diet watching TV, which I never noticed how MANY food commercials there are! Seriously! I stopped watching live TV and went with a movie or read or walked, out of sight out of mind. Hang in there, once you're on soft foods it's amazing how good stuff tastes and satisfies you, sugar free chocolate pudding was a go to for cravings.
  9. Good advice on the isopures, I've used them to get additional liquids and my protein. I don't think they taste very good but there are tons of flavors so get a few different ones. Also, i think ordering online is cheaper and a better selection. Some times GNC has them on clearance. Fortunately, I love the protein drinks, Premier Vanilla is my favorite.

    Can I have this?

I personally wouldn't as well because of the fructose
  11. I've noticed a change in tastes as well. Everything is much sweeter than before. I assume it has something to do with going cold turkey post op with liquid and soft foods diet. I used to love propel but can't touch the stuff now. Fortunately, I haven't had any cravings since surgery, only 5 weeks out so hope that sticks around. However, dang there are a lot of food commercials!?!

    One week out

That's awesome, congrats on the great start. I'm a little over 5 weeks out and I don't know any tricks but as I'm sure you hear/read stick to your surgeons plan. Seems like a lot of trial and error on foods you can eat comfortably. Small bites and chew chew chew is legit, my stomach tells me right away when I don't do that. I really like cottage cheese with canned no sugar added peaches. To get water, i have a bottle with 64oz in it, so I know I have to drink that before the day is over. I use MyFitnessPal to log everything and focus on the amount of grams of Protein, Carbs and Fat and don't pay attention to the calories. One thing I've found is there is a delay in how full your stomach gets so go very slow, I ate a kids applesauce pouch while working and just sucked it down in 5 minutes with ~3 ounces and I though for sure it was going to come back up and was painful. Takes time for your stomach to tell you it's full. Not sure that helps but good luck!
