  1. I am so sorry!!! But...now you can get it taken care of and then start making changes to your diet add exercise (if you can). Life sucks sometimes, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!! You are so much better off that it happened (if it had to happen) that it happened now instead of later after WLS. Use this time to get healthy and well. Good Luck

    Thanks so much

  2. Wow...Sorry to hear, but optimistic that they will be able to disolve it...Glad they found it now, so no repocussions later..Try the apple cidar vinegar regiment...A lot of people are swearing by it...I got bad news too...My doctor called and said my eco was abnormal...I go to the cardiologist tomorrow...He has the last say...If I can't have it, I will do the apple cidar vinegar regiment as well...Best wishes to you...God bless us all...

I wish you the best of luck!

  3. Aw, hon. I'm sorry to hear it. Those darn clots have no say in your body!!! Believe that. My mom just dealt with a massive one in her lung and I can understand the grief. But let's believe all will be well hon. I'd encourage you to change your eating now, even though you won't be having wls. Change a few things now, they'll make a huge impact and difference over time. Get with a nutritionist if you can anyway. I speak blessings over you hon, please stay on. I'd love to hear how great you're doing anyhow. [emoji4]

Thank you. I appreciate you saying this.

  4. This group has been amazing and supportive in the week or so since I've been a member but fate has dealt me the cruelest of ironies. My WLS consultation with a surgeon was scheduled for next Monday. I told you guys in my initial post that I have a history of DVT and PE. This dates back to 2011, one catastrophic event that nearly ended my life. I haven't had one since and have been off blood thinners for three and half years. Today, after being in severe pain and noticing swelling in my other leg (not the one I had the original clot in), I found out that I once again have blood clot. WLS will not be an option for the foreseeable future and I'm on an emotional tailspin. Thank you all for you encouragement since I joined this group.

  5. You are beautiful now and you will be stunningly gorgeous through this journey! Most importantly, you will gain control of your health--I'm a lot older, but have the same hopes for better looks and better health. The surgery isn't a quick fix at all, but it is a priceless tool to help us in the process. Best of luck and visit this site often--there's soooo much information and encouragement here. One of the best motivations is to look through the before/after pictures people have posted!

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!!! I will definitely come to this app often.

  6. This is definitely a great step for you. I started this process when I was 28 in October of 2015. At my first consultation I was 540 pounds. I'm sorry to hear of all your health set backs but now is the time to take back your life! I had surgery at the end of May 2016 and am now a year out. I am down 200 since surgery but 263 overall. I now weigh 277 (though probably less now because I just had a panniculectomy where they removed 15 pounds of skin!!)

Good luck to you! If you need anything just find us on here!

Oh wow. Congrats to all your success! Thank you for your words of encouragement. The loose skin is the biggest thing I'm concerned about to be honest. I'm wondering what the recovery process for that is like.

  7. Ariat. . .
You are absolutely beautiful. This surgery is for YOU.

Although easily said than done, do NOT focus on the opinions and thoughts of others. NONE OF THEM HAS EVER WALKED IN YOUR SHOES AND NEVER WILL.

Ask yourself what were the "naysayers" doing through all of your previous health issues, trial, & tribulations other than run their mouths???

You have the opportunity to take control of YOUR life!! Continue to pray and ask for God's guidance. He will cover you during this journey. Much love and success to you.

I had gastric bypass on May 30th. I go to first follow up appointment with surgeon today. My experience has been positive with very minimal discomfort (no pain).

    Highest weight: 300 lbs
    Current Weight: 280 lbs

Hospital didn't weigh me before surgery, which is fine with me. I'm focusing on the present and future. I will let the PAST remain where it belongs: In the PAST

    God Bless You

Thanks so much for your kind words and you're absolutely right. People were quick to offer up harsh criticisms but stingy with encouragement. I'm doing this for me and I'm happy to have found this community as well as having my supportive family.

  8. My aunt has done this surgery so I know where my mom and some of my family stands on it. It always bothered me while she went through the process. They always felt like she was too "lazy" and should've done it on her own. Now I'm going through the same health issues and I'm hiding it from everyone but my aunt. I just want to get this whole process done. Im looking forward to your updates!

It's a shame people are so judgmental about it. They want you to lose the weight but they're so puritanical about what they consider the "right way". There's also nothing lazy involved when it comes to surgery. There's a lot of work involved before, during and after in order for you to be successful and keep the weight off. The surgery is hardly a quick fix! Those who treat it as such and don't make the necessary changes to their lifestyle don't lose as much weight or they gain it back! I'm glad you're moving forward and I'm happy that you have your aunt to lean on during all this.

  9. Then I feel it will be a lucky day! [emoji4] Just concerned if they will approve after having pancreatitis due to medications I used for Migraines and to controls muscle spasms for my Bells palsy. I was also treated for h. Pylori (sp?). This all scared me but with the other health issues I have going on, I'm sure it cannot get any worse. I feel awful being so young and having so many issues. Doesn't help when my mother has never supported me so I cant tell her.

It's very scary when your health is in jeopardy and you have to make a life changing decision to improve the quality of it. I'm sorry you don't have the support of your mom. I'm sure that's very difficult. I've been mentioning the idea for surgery for years but my parents I think were scared and always said "I could do it on my own". But after everything I've gone through these last few years, when I told them about the consultation, they completely understood why I was doing it and were very supportive and I was so relieved.

  10. Good luck! You have to be strong! Sounds like you have gone through so much, but keep pushing. The consultation had me so nervous, but I felt so good walking out the surgons door knowing that this decision is going to change my whole life! You are so gorgeous, keep fighting the good fight girl!

Thanks so much! I'm definitely ready to change my whole. It's exactly what I need because the way my life has been has led me here. I've gotten to the point, after everything that I've gone through, that I know what's at risk and I'm so tired of living this way and I want it all to change.

  11. Hey love! Good luck on your consultation! Please keep us posted! I'm going for mine on the 28th. Super excited to start my journey. I'm 34 and have had multiple health issues, so I'm looking forward to a better lifestyle. Btw...u are Gorgeous!

I will definitely keep everyone posted. Thanks so much! Good luck! The 28th is my 28th birthday and brother's high school graduation so it's a special day for my family too.

  12. Good luck to you & I wish you must success. To have to endure all that during "the best years" is heartbreaking. I believe you will be happy with your decision. Keep us posted, can't wait to follow your journey.

Thank you! I kind of just look at this whole situation as me wanting to having as many years as possible and this is a step in the right direction. The past almost 6 years have been constant doctor visits and this will continue, but it will be me taking control back. Losing the weight will help with all the other medical issues I've been dealing with. Best years are yet to come.

  13. Hey everyone. I'm new here. I have a consultation with a surgeon on June 19th. I'm from NYC. I've had a consultation with this doctor before, over two and a half years ago. At the time, I was recommended the gastric sleeve. I'm 27, currently weigh 406lbs and this is just under the heaviest I've ever been. When I was 22, I had DVT (blood clot which started in my left leg) which lead to compartment syndrome, a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in my lung) and foot drop(a weakness/paralysis in my right foot which causes it to be positioned in a downward angle which affects my gait). I had to have four surgeries on my leg to prevent amputation and open heart surgery to break up the clot in my lung. At 24, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The reason I didn't go through with the surgery the first time was that I wasn't approved. You would think after everything I've been through I would have gotten it together back then but it's complicated because the physical issues I was dealing were constantly affected by mental health issues (another issue entirely but it is being treated) and vice versa. This is a photo of me shortly after scheduling my consultation. I don't take many photos of my body. But I hope that will change. Any words of advice, encouragement? I feel at peace with this decision but it would be nice to talk to others who have had it, even if they are strangers. Image1496737310.429887.jpg
