Banded 5/7 anyone else out there close to me?
caminco replied to MissieLyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go!!!! I had my surgery the same day 5/9/08. My incisions are really well healed. I heard that Vitamin E was a good thing to massage in or Mederma so I think I'll start next week. I am still on full liquids for the next 5-6 days. I'm doing Protein shakes, milk, creamed soups, pudding, juice. I really don't crave anything. Next week I can start scrambled eggs and mushy things like mashed potatoes. Can't wait! I'm down about 12 pounds since the beginning of the process. I'm glad to hear about all the great success stories. -
What Pain Meds did your Dr. Prescribe?
caminco replied to Cadets71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got lortab elixir with tylenol as my pain medicine. I only had to take a few doses. The hydrocodone is really a synthetic codeine. I also got Zofran for nausea. I am just taking tylenol now and gas X strips. Colleen -
I am so sorry that this happened to you. How frustrating but it is something that you didn't have control over. I wish you all the best in your journey although you have a different path. Colleen

I am actually feeling better today than yesterday. I was so bloated yesterday and the gas pressure was bad. I am still sore today but not as bad. I have been walking like a maniac. I don't think I'm drinking enough because I can hear my stomach grumbling today. I'm working on a paper for school today and it is much easier today. I am taking deep breaths and I definitely feel it when I do. I don't really have the left shoulder and chest pressure. My bloating is more down low. It may eventually rise up. I have a heating pad on my stomach today and it seems to help. Hang in there. I definitely am not in the group who feels no pain. It will get better with time I think. Colleen

Starting my journey...would love some feedback!!!

I'm 42, going to turn 43 on July 14th. I had my surgery yesterday and know this was the best gift that I could have given myself. I'm still a lot sore, lots of gas. Trying to walk around. I tried to go to work this morning and could only stay 5 hours. Everything has gone smoothly so far. I see my surgeon again on Thursday. I lost about 8-10 pounds before surgery. I did an Atkins type diet for 2 weeks pre-op. I am excited to be on this journey. -

I had my surgery yesterday and my pain is more of a gas/bloated feeling. Taking Gas X strips and it helps. I've been doing a lot of walking also. I get two days of clears, 2 weeks of full liquids, 1 week of mushy and the 4th week I can eat regular. I was trying to drink some juice today and it was too sweet, had to dilute it. I've never found juice to be too sweet, ever! We're on our way, Colleen -
May 9th was my day also. I had my surgery at 1pm yesterday and was home by 6. Still feeling sore and bloated today. I have the Gas X strips that someone mentioned were really good. I've been taking those. I have only taken 2 doses of lortab. I'm weaning myself to just plain tylenol. I'm walking around some. I made the mistake of going to work today at my desk job but could only make it 1/2 way through. Don't want to overdo it. Colleen.

Great stories everyone. Well I had my surgery yesterday at 1pm at a surgery center by Dr. Kirshenbaum. I got to leave about 6pm. I had a very good experience there. I just feel really sore still and bloated from the gas. I was thinking I could go back to work at my desk job today but I stayed only 5 hours(was supposed to stay 10hrs). Still nauseous, still with some pain but not unbearable and still with a lot of gas and bloating. I'm going to try and sleep some more this afternoon. I had to walk up 17 stairs after my surgery yesterday and it was a little challenging. When I get up, I may go for a walk around my complex.

This is my first official posting. I've been reading a lot of postings and am so glad to be amongst all you great people. I haven't really figured out all the cute weight loss tickers and pictures yet. I'll get there. I had my first appt with Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, CO on March 24, had a phone consult with a dietician April 30th, my pre-op appt on May 2 and my surgery date is May 9. I had Kaiser insurance but they wanted me to jump through too many hoops and wait over a year. I did my homework and decided to pay for it myself. I am so excited, nervous and hopeful all at the same time. I can't wait. I lost about 8-9 pounds on my pre-op diet. I'm ready...
