I had my surgery Wednesday. It was NO WHERE CLOSE to whst I thought. I had NO pain, only had Tylenol in the hospital. Not much nausea or gas. The worst problem I have is trying to get enough fluids in. I wad never a big drinker. I have lost 27lbs so far counting my pre-op diet, my feet and back have stopped hurting already. Its been easy...so far!
    Good luck!!!!

Wow thats amazing! Such a good result for you, I am very much hoping that I will have a similar experience in terms of pain etc! Great loss so far too! Hope it all carries on smoothly for you :D

  2. yes I am allowed 3-4 x Optifast products and 2 cups of vegetables from an approved list.

I probably went wrong as I only had 2 optifast products and some homemade vege broth so by the time I got home at dinner time I was starving and ate stupid things while I was cooking dinner.

Have had my big plate of veges now, and I'm feeling satisfied again. Tomorrow will be a better day I am sure!

Thanks for the suggestion, I might try that tomorrow veges for lunch and Soup for dinner instead maybe :)

Been doing well on preop. Losing about 400 gr. to 500 grams a day. Still have 11 days to go til surgery.

    Thats so great!

i have had my first day of pre-op diet today. it went really well until I got home and ate all the things I'm not allowed because I was starving hungry! Like seriously i wolfed back cheese and a can of tuna how random is that?! I think the next 2 weeks are going to be seriously tough for me. Awesome to hear youre doing well though :)

  4. Oh dear you guys I am feeling so disappointed in myself already!

First day of my pre-op diet today, and i went all good while I was at work but then I got home and I was starving and I just ate so much crap which I shouldn't have at all. Like canned tuna and cheese haha so random but it was just the first thing I could get my hands on that was instant food. Ugh feel quite disgusted in myself actually. The mental side of this is going to be such a struggle for me even after the surgery...I mean even though I know I am doing this for my health etc I still couldn't stop myself eating those things. Its like the hungry beast takes over and I lose control. So lame :/

  5. You need a therapist and nutritionist ASAP! This is a lifelong commitment, I am an emotional eater and struggle with it daily. Therapy has given me some insight, but when I'm really stressed out, it's hard.
You can eat after surgery, you have to make a conscious decision to choose the right thing.

Yes definitely I have both of those things but will only of had 2 appointments of each by the time I have surgery. That will definitely be ongoing though and hopefully it will help but sounds like it's still going to be hard.

Be conscious and make good decisions I shall definitely try! Thank you for your response [emoji4]

  6. Hey everyone I am new here and I tried searching but couldn't find much in the way of this so if I'm asking something that has been asked before I apologise.

Basically I am wondering what/if there is anything I can do to mentally prepare or help with the huge adjustment of surgery.

My surgery is scheduled for the 3rd of July and I am very conscious of the fact that it will help with the physical side of things but I am going to have to put in a lot of work mentally. I am definitely an emotional/binge eater with a deeply unhealthy relationship with food and I'm so worried about what life is going to be like post surgery.

If anyone has any tips or advice or even just some insight into what life will be like, anything really especially if you had issues with emotional eating and binge eating and those sorts of things beforehand that would so be great

  7. Oh good! It's good to know there are still some Kiwis kicking about [emoji4] I'm up in Auckland, but surgery is July 4th in Hawkes Bay.
Congrats on making it through Cam! And hello Berrybaby!
