  1. Hey, thanks for the response. Yes I take pictures and see big differences looking from that aspect. My family and friends seem to see more than I. Idk I just don’t see the progression others see. I loook bk and found this picture and I see a big difference. Some days I just don’t. Most days are better for me. I guess I’m just having a moment IMG_1232.JPG.11e01cb30cfda2027a1ef60b208fb5e0.JPG IMG_1224.JPG.c2dc71b4c5cd67f6bbd74258f079519d.JPG

  2. Hey don’t get discouraged!!! I felt the same way at first when my surgery mates were way ahead. I had to stop and think about. How hard was it to loose weight preop? Some of these success stories your looking at are amazing but not typical. You need to remember your BMI wasn’t as high as some others that had the surgery. Everyone progresses differently. Everyone has stalls as well while you may not be losing a number on the scale you are losing inches. Are you taking progress pictures and measurements? How are your clothes fitting? I had my DS on 12-8-17 and am down 39 lbs (the DS should have faster weight loss) I notice that the days I’m stalling are the days I didn’t get my Water or food in. Do you track your food? I use the free app called Looseit and it tells me how much protein/fat/ carbs. The more I eat I loose the day after.

I also started to watch DR V on YouTube. He is a WLS Dr out of New Mexico. He records his seminars for patients after surgery. It may help you look at life after the Sleeve differently and give you the push you need to keep going.

Here is one small clip so you can find him on YouTube.

  3. I researched and researched Drs in Mexico because insurance would not cover it. After a year i was comfortable with the surgery i decided on, I already started the preop diet to be ready as i could be when i got the funds together. I called and got a surgery date in a Friday and had surgery the following Friday. Best decision ever to go to MX I would still be miserable and gaining. Lots of great Surgeons out there with experience and some are less than your yearly deductible if you have a high plan.

  4. I had my surgery on 12/8/18 with Dr. Lopez I flew into San Diego in the morning, picked up at the airport and drive across the border. I had surgery that same afternoon. He did the Sleeve, DS, hernia repair and gallbladder removal. His surgical staff was friendly and made me very comfortable. I stayed in recovery for one night then moved to a different floor for another night. Then to the hotel for three nights. I’m so glad that I went with Dr Lopez. I’ve lost 30lbs in two months. I had zero complications. I was very sore post op in my abdomen and felt like it took forever to heal from the hernia repair and took 8 weeks off from work. Airfare, surgery, spending money and passports for two people was less than $9000.

  5. I had a hernia repair at the same time as surgery. I was given omeprazole and only took it once z day. I have not had any heartburn at all. I’m also curious if this is something I need to continue taking. I thought long term it could cause issues. I’m interested in what answers you get.

  6. Ok sorry for leaving you all hanging. I do not have cancer, that dr was being an arse. I went to a Hematolgoist and my Iron just was super low. I had an infusion and was great. I didn’t get my surgery right away since I had to give my body time to recover from the infusion and then my son has brought home every germ imaginable Lol. So after I’m well from this flu I’ll be going in. Again. Apologies about running off for awhile. That dr had me a mess.

What an Ass. Hope you do find a new Dr. I’m so happy that you are doing better minus the germs/flu. Better to get that stuff out of the way now so you can have a good recovery after surgery.

  7. Sleeved October 17, 2017.
I’m out with friends tonight and I got a fruity drink with barely any alcohol mainly just juice lol but I’ve been holding onto it most of the night cause I’m nervous to drink it.
Will one light drink do anything? I know to stay away from it but I’m nervous

My paperwork said to avoid for 6 weeks. The posts I’ve read is it hits you fast and hard and leaves quickly. So maybe sip and see how you feel.

  8. I’m 4 weeks post op and down 17.7 lbs. This has been a stall week. I did the DS because I knew that I would have a hard time losing.

Girls that had the Sleeve the same time as my surgery are in the 20-30 lb loss the first month out. Goes to show the type of surgery didn’t help me lose that fast.

The advantages of losing slower is your skin has a little more time to bounce back. I’m sure I’ll still need help with extra skin after losing 100 lbs from my highest.

  9. So I lost like 18 pounds Pre op and 3 day after surgery I weighed again and gained 20! A lot of Water weight ! I had edema too. Almost a week out now and still up 20?!?! Why????? Help please!!!

I gained after surgery too. I was up 5lbs when I got home 5 days after surgery. It took a little over a week to get back below surgery. Now it’s coming off slowly. People assure me that slow and steady win the race and to hang in there so I look at the bigger picture of weight lost since I started the process. Before and after pictures help.

  10. I used to get these injections at a local weight loss clinic along with Phentermine. I admit the injections, which aren't so bad, made me feel more energetic and in a better mood. I'm on the vitamin patches now but am considering going back to the injection form.

I did too and they were pink. The ones I got from Mexico are Brown. I’m a little nervous about giving myself one.

  11. Thank you all for the advice and concerns. It helps A LOT.

I was released yesterday, 12/18. I was sent home with a prescription for morphine and a gazillion other maintenance meds.

Walking is a breeze no matter how bad the pain because it’s something I can control lol. I’m having trouble tolerating the Protein drinks, but I am getting enough fluids. So far my incisions are healing nicely. That right abdomen is the devil! Does anyone else have like a deformed pulled in look on that side ?

I really didn’t let myself do much research on the surgery because I knew i would read horror stories and change my mind. I just went by everything my doctor told me to do pre op and what to expect post op. I love this app/group because nobody judges and feels comfortable sharing their experiences to help others. Thanks y’all!

Glad you are home and doing better. Yes I have that deformed dimple above my belly button. Sure hope it will go away once I lose more fat and the stitches desolve. That’s the only incision that I can feel a bump which I think is a stitch. I kept my bandages on for two weeks which was a mistake because the rest of my stomach is sore from all the bandages be pulled of daily do it looks worse than the actual incisions.

  12. I had dramatic improvement in week 2. Early in the week there was still some discomfort with getting up, but by the end of the week it was pretty well gone. The incision to the right of my belly button (as I look down) was the one that hurt the most - the internal stitches were what I was feeling with muscle under there. Depending on how I sat/lay - it would give me pain. Definitely be cautious for the first month with how you sit/stand/lift so that you don't put added stress on those stitches inside. That is what the pain was for me. Then one day it was like a light switch turned off and the pain was gone. The pain from bumping it, or trying to lay on my side was gone before the first month was up - like week 3.
I saw so many people saying that after just a few days they were pain free - which had me worried too. Get 2 weeks under your belt and you should be fine.
Just looked at the posting date and your surgery date. Looks like you should be right about 2 weeks right now - still having issues?

    Thanks for your encouraging response.

I’m now just over 2 weeks post op. Feeling much better however the getting up and down still pulls a lot. I’m comfortable laying propped up in bed and miss laying on my stomach or side. It’s still pulling when I attempt to roll to the side. I know it’s still early and will continue to get better daily. I’m walking a lot better too. Sitting for long periods or getting in and out of the car and very difficult. I was supposed to return to work on the 22 (14 days post op) and had to ask for an extension because I can’t drive. I had 3 days of pain pills after moving from recovery. I’m so grateful to have had some left over from kidney stones.

  13. I at a fork full of spaghetti and I was sleeved 12/14

Sent from my LGLS775 using BariatricPal mobile app

I had the Sleeve and DS on the 8th. I’ve started to try new items and have regretted it. Once you get that pain of overeating and being unable to burp wasn’t enough for me I tried again. Who would think that two pieces of pepperoni, salami and cheese would be to much? ( these were the small cracker size) I have had the foamies 3 Times now. It’s been very difficult learning how to eat again.

  14. I was sleeved on 12/19. The surgeon nicked a vein near my spleen. I lost one liter of blood. I had a fever, a cath and a drain. The drain is still in and is causing me major discomfort. I hope I get to go home today. I am having a few gas pains. I also have pain in my left shoulder.

I hope you made it home for Christmas and are starting to feel better. So sorry you started with complications and hope everything is easy from here on out.

  15. Day 10 of my liver shrinking diet just ended. Tomorrow is my last day of 4 shakes and a small meal. On Christmas I start my clear diet. So far I am down 14 lbs in 10 days. I have not strayed one bit from my diet and I now really like Water lol!! I feel fantastic. Surgeon prescribed my Vitamins and Nascobal (once a week B12 nasal spray) and my insurance covers half the cost. Pretty pleased with that.

I even went to my parents' holiday party and I wasn't even tempted to cheat. I guess I have my mind right on this. I am walking every day so my body will be used to it after surgery.

My surgery is scheduled for 10:55 am on the 27th.

It does get easier as you get closer. Water really helps curve the urge to eat. I stopped being hungry once I hit ketosis Nd had to remind and force myself to eat the last couple days. I was so grateful for the preop diet it helped preparers for fasting the day if surgery. Mine was around 3 pm.
