Look up YouTuber by the name of "Half tha Ash". She recently had surgery with Dr. Altamirano Cano and developed a leak about one week post op. She documented the experience and it was very scary to watch.

Ashlie who you are referring to is in Dr.A's Facebook group after hearing that this site was taking her YouTube and putting a negative spin on it she addressed the group live. Her leak was not because of her surgeon and it is in poor taste to use that as ammo to gain more clients.

  2. After researching extensively I decided to go with Dr. Altamirano Cano, most days he does 3 surgeries and max 4 . The hospital he is at has an amazing new wing for bariatric patients, he is real and honest and has an amazing aftercare reputation. The patient whom passed was because he and his mother failed to disclose serious information. He wore a CPAP at home, did not tell Dr A and did not bring it with him. What happened has been ruled not the fault of Dr. A or the hospital and the patients mother has stated this herself. We all take the risk with any surgery any where and it is our responsiblity to be honest with our provider of any current or past health issues so they are aware and prepared.

With that, if there are any other serious incidents that have happened at the hands of Dr. Altamirano Cano please share because I have not found any due to negligence on his part.

  3. Your daughter didn't have control over what went in her mouth growing up. Now she is an adult and wants to fix it. If you remove her from insurance she can find a very qualified surgeon in Mexico to do it, which do you prefer? This is not the easy way out, she still needs the lifestyle change, this will help her make that happen.

  4. Doing my research and I am seeing that a lot of people get depressed, have regret and even suicidal thoughts after WLS. I am curious about the stats, is it more common in people who have been obese their whole life, because they still see that person in the mirror or that the surgery will change who they are? What about people who were not overweight their whole life and gained a lot of weight quickly as an adult? IS their a link? Does it matter?

  5. I am 5'5" BMI 35 and I plan to get it. Do what you want to do and don't feel ashamed! I have not always been big, I gained over 100 pounds during my last pregnancy in my 30s and I can't get rid of it. I am not the same person on the outside and I want my life back. I am sad, I have no energy, people treat me different, I am ashamed for getting so big. I have always dieted even when I was a size 7-10 laughable now, I wish I was there now lol. My husband thinks you have to be 300+ to have it and says if I just exercised... I HAVE NO ENERGY!!

  6. How did you decide on a surgeon in Mexico? I went to the site to verify certifications and a lot of doctors I see reviews on and whose website says they are board certified are not even on the list of Mexican board certified surgeons. Only one of my top 3 were actually board certified in bariatric surgery. There are 88 bariatric board certified surgeons in Mexico and I only recognized maybe 4 names on that list from reading reviews and watching youtube. So I was curious what made you choose the surgeon you chose? I am still undecided but have strong contender.

Omg yes I felt like this. I literally almost walked out surgery Day because it got delayed.

I'm now six days post op and have zero regrets.

Even if you manage to lose the weight can you keep it off? I told myself to either accept being fat or do the surgery but if I chose not to do the surgery I wasn't allowed to whine about my weight any more.

Invest in therapy to get at the root of your overeating before surgery. Then you'll be ready.

I tried to accept being fat"it's in my genes, all my aunts and several cousins on both sides are fat" I am sick of yo yo dieting and my husband buying me food and telling me to eat this eat that. I need this surgery I guess as a tool and as my definitely excuse of "I can't"

  8. Thank you Dr. Illan for the response. I would love to set something up to discuss this with you. You do the single incision sleeve, correct? Can that be done on someone who had a tubal ligation through the belly button or would you suggest the conventional? Are there any risks to someone with scar tissues from previous c-sections?

    Thank you so much

  9. Looking in to Mexico for the sleeve. I want an accredited hospital and noticed Oasis Hospital is international joint accredited, but the site show Dr Cano and Dr Gonzalez. I thought Dr. Illan and Ponce were with Oasis? I am confused. I see very good things about Dr. Illan, but I want to make sure that I am in a top notch facility in case anything goes wrong( I have had 3 c-sections and one laparoscopic tubal). I also like the Obesity Control Center and Dr. Ortiz.....It's so hard with so many great reviews on several surgeons. I have to quit smoking and gather money before making my final decision.

Also, How long is the expected time off work? I have 6 days left for 2017 and would love to do it this year, but if I need more than a week off I will have to do it 2018.

    Thank you
