    TUMMY TUCK RECOVERY

How was the drain removal? I am so freaked out by the thought of drains! Do they pull them out slowly? Fast? Do they have to stitch up where they are pulled out from?

    Pcos and non existent periods

Wow, you’ve lost a lot of weight in 2 months!! I’m impressed! Be patient, you are still so brand new to this. I had really irregular periods before surgery and my cycle has totally regulated. Just give it some time :)

    Introduction

I was Kaiser- referral in Sept, classes began in Nov, surgery may 1st so, about 8 months

    Waist trainers

A waist trainer (according to my surgeon) won’t help you with shape. The only thing that will help with loose skin is hard exercise. I do suggest a stomach binder for recovery, it REALLY made a huge difference in controlling the pain. I was given one at a follow up appt, but I would buy one on Amazon if I were you! Last I checked they were like $17. You don’t need anything special, just some compression around your stomach to help with incision and muscular pain. I started wearing mine on top of a T-shirt bc it chaffed.

Hair loss and hair dye and hair cuts.

I’m sorry, that must be hard! Have you considered going lighter, rather than darker? If you dye your hair dark, your thin roots may show more. I know you said you have tried shampoos, my stylist suggested ColorProf if you are up for trying another.
  6. I had a VSG in May 2018, so about 10 months ago. My weight loss has slowed significantly since December. Is the honeymoon period over, or could this be a stall?

10 months, is it over or a stall?

I will look for the thread. Thanks!!

10 months, is it over or a stall?

I love your advice and attitude!! Thank you! What does your IF plan look like?

10 months, is it over or a stall?

Any tips or experience for plateaus? I think I remember your before/after pics from right around the time of my surgery and you were quite the inspo!

10 months, is it over or a stall?

Thanks for your response! I didn’t exercise much over the winter season, unfortunately, BUT I have been walking about 6 miles most days for the last couple weeks. Doing that and not seeing the scale move much has been alarming.
  11. Way more than I would have expected 🙄 but I don’t really know what number. Maybe 60.
  12. My mother in law is getting ready to have surgery and mentioned not being able to throw up, ever again, even if she gets sick. I’m 10 months post op, and went through months of pre-op education with Kaiser and I have never heard this?! I’ve also thrown up twice since surgery.... so, is this a thing for people?

    Can’t throw up??

She said it has something to do with the stomach muscles.

    Maybe I'm Being Sensitive, But...

    What a dick.
  16. You haven’t been hungry since 10/17/2017??? 😳
  17. What was your starting weight? My surgery weight was 262 and i lost 54 pounds in the first 5 months after surgery. I think you’re doing just fine! I had the same concerns, but it’s just a more gradual process than we expect because it’s such a drastic change. Unfortunately, the weight doesn’t just fall off like we hope it will. Keep your head up! I’ve lost over a hundred pounds in the past 10 months and I haven’t done much more than eat a lot less. This winter has been rough and I haven’t been exercising. So I feel like my weight loss has been due primarily to the surgery alone.

    appetite back after 7 weeks

You mean you are making poor choices, as far as food goes? But not eating as much as you used to? If that is the case... sure it could be normal - but it comes back to the fact that these surgeries are tools, not fixes. I have struggled with making better food choices, especially because recovering from surgery passes, and then life goes on as usual, and you CAN eat whatever you want, if you choose to. The worse you eat, the more bad food you will want. Don't get too down about it, but I think its important to be conscious about what you're choosing to eat and remember that you deserve to give your body the good things.
  19. Congrats!! I love the feeling of fresh new, (and a new size!) clothes! Where are you shopping? Old navy Rockstar jeggings are a nice high waisted skinny leg option, but I also really love Democracy Jeans... they are high waisted and great for shaping. I buy them at Nordstrom Rack or Amazon...

    Any MAY sleevers???

Hi All. Hows it going? How are you guys feeling 10 months post op? Are you where you want to be? How have your goals stayed the same or changed? I was sleeved on May 2 2018, and things have gone very smoothly for me, overall. I have lost 100 pounds, but Im afraid things have really slowed down for me. I haven't lost weight in the last month or so. I have been careful not to track my weight every day, or even every week so I don't become obsessed, but I have been staying around 189 consistently. The winter weather has kept me from being very active, and Im feeling a little bit down about it. Id like to keep losing, and obviously I know I need to get moving more. Just wondering how things are going for my fellow May friends

    Hair Loss

Yes, I lost a toooon of hair. It came out all day every day in handfuls, I don't know how I had any left. Luckily, I had a lot to begin with, but it really freaked me out. I had the sleeve surgery on May 2 2018, and my hair started falling out around month 3 and started growing back around month 5. Now I have a lot of baby hairs. Its just part of the process, and its freaky, but Im glad to say it will grow back!
  22. Don’t beat yourself up... you’re human. That’s probably not the last time you’re going to eat Taco Bell, and that doesn’t mean you are going to fail at this. Nothing is set in stone, you’re still a baby at this. How did you feel afterwards?
  23. I haven’t told many people. I’ve lost 100 pounds and people don’t even mention it. It’s actually bizarre. I think it’s totally possible to tell no one, and people won’t notice the everyday variables like how much you’re eating in front of them.
  24. That’s really crappy. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with all of that invasion of your privacy. I think ultimately people aren’t thinking about us as much as we think they are... hopefully the work chatter will end when the next point of focus comes to their attention.

Bra Extenders & Other Clothing Tricks

My boobs are totally deflating. Why are you buying so many bras at once? I would suggest buying as you need them, because both your cup and size may change, and at different rates. I’ve been wearing a lot of sports bras, but I’m lucky to work from home so I can wear casual stuff most of the time.
