I wish I had asked more specifics on what I should and shouldn't eat as I moved into regular foods. I was in soft foods doing great but was worried about where I should go as I eased into solids.
My questions are more NUT related so may not be for the surgeon?
Yeah most of my questions I have so far are for my NUT my surgeon has barely been involved in the process it's mostly PAs

So I had my surgery on 5/25, right after I was freaked out that I had blood clots... then I thought my incision wouldn't stop leaking. Now I have a burning sensation on my skin to the right side of my big incision which is right above my belly button.
I also can't bend down or lay on my left side or it'll hurt. I am going to my doctor in 2 days but has anyone experienced this burning tingling feeling on their stomach?

Are you on soft foods now, or just eating yogurt along with full liquids? My diet was advanced to mushy foods today and I had my first meal (LF refried beans). Over the last few days on full liquids I didn't feel much restriction and could take my fluids and Protein Shakes easily and had a few times where I felt legit hungry, but when I tried the Beans today I couldn't take more than a few spoonfuls. The restriction will come.
As far as yogurt.. there's lots of different types. There is the dense, greek-style that has a good amount of Protein, and then there are sugary low protein types that I call "candy yogurt." I haven't dug into my yogurt yet, but I imagine the candy yogurts will not provide much restriction. Something like Fage would probably be more filling. I have also heard some people say that yogurt is a slider for them, regardless of brand. So there's that possibility.
I'm not on soft/purée foods yet, my doctor has a step in between were you can start on yogurt, sugar free pudding, cottage cheese etc.... I have been eating only Greek yogurt the candy kind isn't allowed. It might b ether flavors that are easy to take, but I also space them out by a few hours so it's not like I'm sitting there downing Greek yogurt 🤣 I have heard that the restriction doesn't come till starting the soft foods... the scale finally broke and I lost a lb. I think I just mis chewing things [emoji31] I appreciate the feedback!

So I am buying my 2nd week mark in 3 days but I feel like I am able to take in a lot more that what it seems I should be. I have no problem getting Water down (some gas bubbles here and there but nothing painful) and same thing with my Protein Drinks. Now that I can eat yogurt I and able to eat at least 4 yogurts a day (they are 5.3oz each) I eat 4 which give me 60g of Protein and I have been drinking my water. But I haven't any restriction or "full" feeling.
Also once I moved to yogurt I haven't lost anything for 4 days now... is any of this normal?

Hope you're feeling better!! Any dry kinds of food will feel that way, I totally agree with having something packed in your bag or desk for emergencies. Also if you really have to make sure you chew on it until its applesauce type of consistency so it won't be hard going down. But that's if it's absolutely necessary [emoji5]

Hey guys! Hope all is well!
I had my surgery on Thursday (5/25) and everything is going well so far. I still have gas pains and the new thing I'm dealing with is we're they took my drain out is still leaking.
But I've been trying hard to get the right amount of Water in and other things such as Jello, broth and Optifast shakes my doctor gave me.
Still feel like I did 1000 crunches and have the tightness around my incisions but everyday has a little less pain. -
Thank you guys so much!! This has been a huge relief to hear that I'm not so alone in this!!

So I have been home for a little over a day now and I'm trying to move as much as possible to get the gas out.
But every time I go to stand up I fee like my entire stomach area were the incisions are super tight and then slowly lose that feeling once I start walking around. Also the area were they pulled out the drain is still leaking.
I called the dr and basically told me that is all normal, but I wanted to see if anyone may have experienced something like this.

I'm just hoping to make it through the next 7 days without being charged with a violent felony. I'm soooo irritible right now. This has been a six-month process for me as well -- my first appointment was in late November. I will be relieved to have the surgery behind me, since it's felt like my whole life has revolved around "the day" for six months now. Otherwise, the process has gone smoothly.
Yeah I'm so over it, people at work keep bringing in good and chocolates. Which I don't mind but can we put it further away lol. Im glad the process is over I'm so tired of doctors at this point. I'm not excited about the pain that will come the first week after the surgery, I feel like that would make me just hate everyone. But once it's over and those lbs drop I'll start giving people a second chance [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23].

Hi I was really scared I couldn't do the pre-op either but got through just great [emoji1] I brought to boil a big pot of beef bones and skimmed off the dark stuff, turned the burner down to low and let it simmer for 24 hours, added a large onion, three large carrots, three large celery sticks, three large bay,1 tablespoon of pepper corns and some organic beef bouillon, the kind that's in a jarIt was very good. I had my surgery on April 24/17
That's awesome! Any advice for a newbie? For after the surgery I know that some people experience pain from gas and other from the stitches. Of course everyone is different. I know I'm going to have a difficult time with the drinking I love to chug my Water or my water bottle comes with a straw but I've been trying to drink slower.

My sleeve is scheduled for May 30 and I'm also here to benefit from the shared experience and knowledge of this group. How has the pre-op phase of your diet gone? I'm on Day 6 of 14 and surviving. [emoji4] But I have noticed my brain's not working so great....I'm in a fog from the calorie restriction. One hour at a time...
Same! I'm not fun to be around at this time lol. Unfortunately I am super bloated (it's that time) and I haven't seen the scale move which is a bummer but soon it will happen!! How was your process up until now? Mine took 6 months but I can't believe it's already over

Yes this community keeps me sain, lol! So many will NEVER get what we go through and the struggles of excessive weightI agree 100% I haven't shared that I am getting the surgery with anyone but my parents and sister. I have heard some of the most rude things when people hear about someone getting the surgery. I know many people out there only say things like that out of lack of education about it. But I know myself "Not Today!" [emoji23][emoji23]
I have been reading people's posts and it has been so calming and I wish I would've joined sooner!
When is your surgery date? Or if you have had it already?

[emoji4] welcome
Thank you! I'm pumped to meet people who actually understand what many others can't!

Hey There!
I am full of all these emotions as my surgery approaches on May 25th! I'm nervous, excited, second guessing my decision, but I know that it is all going to be worth it!!
I'm 24 and I just couldn't seem to stop the weight gain. Diets made me hate myself and I would do great then soon fall off the wagon. I've tried it all from the "celebrity diets" to working with a nutritionist. Until I came across this surgery and that's when it all came together.
I have met so many wonderful people along the way so far and I am looking for someone who can be my buddy on this journey
Looking forward to this new beginning! [emoji16]
