celeniavsg got a reaction from FluffyChix in 8 months post-op, how are you feeling/eating?
I am 8 month's post op and lost 75 pounds so far. It's been a roller coaster ride these past few weeks. I have been trying to stay on a strict regimen with my diet but there are times I do slip and have some carbs/sugar. I'm starting to feel disappointed in myself. I'm starting college this week and I am so stressed and nervous I don't even have an appetite and I know I am not drinking enough liquids. Plus, lately I've been waking up early in the morning dry heaving and throwing up foamy spit. I started taking my PPI again too. I just feel like this is because I am not doing something correct. I also get dizzy if I stand up too quickly from sitting, or if I bend over to pick something up.
Either I feel like I'm eating too much or not enough at times. I was taking kickboxing classes but unfortunately I couldn't afford it anymore. Luckily my college has a fitness center, free for all students so I will def take advantage. Pretty much, long story short I feel like I am losing my drive and focus remaining on the right path because I have so many other priorities going on and I'm afraid I am going to start gaining weight soon enough and I don't know how I would feel if I saw that scale go up.
Sidebar, I suffer from mental illnesses that I am currently on meds for and I am not sure if they are sort of causing this foamy spit, feeling tired and weak. I've already contacted my doctor and I have an appointment to discuss.
The first several months have been great, I don't wait to fall back into old habits. The mind is a tough thing to battle.
How is everyone doing 8-months post-op?

Regret.......... you probably came here to hear about how I regret my sleeve surgery. But it's the opposite I'm madly in love with my sleeve (my banana belly) I always read on here why people hate it, but I never read about how people are embraced by the surgery. It has made me a completely different person than who I was 6 months ago. I'm confident, successful, and beautiful. Don't get my wrong I went threw ups and downs pre op, and post op. But at the end of the day I'm almost 100 pounds down, I look back at myself last year around this time and hate the person I see. If you went threw this surgery, and are having any regret.. don't... it's a beautiful thing that a smart surgeon did for you, he/she believed in your health and weight loss. There is going to be ups and downs, stalls, and tears( in my case panic attacks). But when you wake up one morning and you weigh yourself and your almost 100 pounds down from your start weight you will not regret. You will embrace.
    Have a lovely day.

Bagels used to sit on my stomach like a brick pre-op. I'd be terrified to try one now.
You learned a hard lesson. Keep something with you to eat at all time, Protein bar, nuts, protein chips. Something.
I have to eat pretty often and I always keep something in my purse. I can eat pretty much anything, but there are lots of times you get trapped some place with no good options. Just make sure you always have a good option on you.

Don't feel bad, if you are feeling like your going to pass out from not having anything to eat. You have to eat something.

Glad you're ok (and I bet you won't eat a bagel again!) and congrats on the new job.
I've learned the hard way too that I need to really plan out each day - what I'll eat and when. I always have a snack in my purse. Nuts or a Protein Bar travel well. And I keep a water bottle in the car.

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You were feeling woozy and needed a few bites of something. The bagel was not the best choice, but that's all you had and you can't really blame yourself for eating it. You needed something in your stomach. I definitely know what it's like to feel woozy when I go too long without eating since my surgery 6 months ago. I honestly do not think you did anything wrong at all and I don't think you were bad for eating it.
Now that it's done and over with, just be prepared for the future, in case a situation comes up similar to that again. Maybe pack a bag that you can keep at your office. Some Snacks that you will have plenty of in case you forget them when you leave home in the morning. Perhaps some almonds, some decent Protein Bars, maybe some parm crisps. That way if you are in a rush in the morning, the bag of snacks is already at the office.
I am sorry you got sick and felt bad, but again, it's okay.

Hope you're feeling better!! Any dry kinds of food will feel that way, I totally agree with having something packed in your bag or desk for emergencies. Also if you really have to make sure you chew on it until its applesauce type of consistency so it won't be hard going down. But that's if it's absolutely necessary [emoji5]

celeniavsg got a reaction from Nynjesq in Why are post-op diets so different?!
I spoke to my NUT about this, she told me that some surgeons are a bit extra when it comes to diets to be super safe to avoid complications and admitted some are a little too intense. Patients can always ask if they can be cleared sooner for next stages if they are tolerating their current diet well. So it's really depending on the surgeon.
