1. Hey, Cuz, my family tree positively drips Flakes from AZ. Used to go to all the Flake reunions. You possibly saw me and all my sibs (forced to) dress alike and play our little violins and sing at the reunions.....All the older generation loved it, but we kids felt socially shunned. Childhood trauma.......Anyway, I forgot I even HAD a tailbone until I lost all my weight. Now it protrudes onto my consciousness as a sore spot every time I sit slouched for long. Good luck with yours. Remind yourself to sit straight; it helps.

Crazy! I just moved up to Snowflake. Sounds like maybe you're a Reed? Small world! It must not gave been too tramatic, you still admit you're related! Thank you for the insight, I know there are a lot of people up here that get WLS done in mexico. That's my plan. How did you have yours done?

  2. Okay, I have decided that I am going to get the sleave done, now it's just a matter of time. I wanted to know if there 2as anything that you didn't realize was weight related that went away.

When I was young and dumb I skateboarded alot. I think I broke my tail bone and when I was at my heaviest my tail bone shifts and makes it uncomfortable to sit properly, or lay completely flat. I hope this goes away with the weight loss.

Any other examples of nice side effects you weren't planning on from WLS?

  3. You know, I haven't had the weight loss surgery yet but about 7 years ago I became an officer for the dept of corrections. I kind of created a couple life goals and one of them was to have a 6 pack at some point in my life and be able to do pull ups with ease (I have never done one) I think that guys aren't really focused on the numbers as much as how we feel or look. At least that is my case.

  4. Thank you all for the replies. I will be self paying for the surgery and have to save up but I think I am going to go ahead with it. My mil and wife have both had it done as well as about 6 other people that I know. They all recommend it and say they wish they did it sooner. I am the type of person that thinks and learns about ALL the options before I make up my mind.

  5. Hi Jordan Flake, minus the depression I had all the same issues. Every single one has improved in the 3 months since my surgery. I don't think anyone can tell you which, if any, side effects you may have after surgery because we are all so different. You just need to weigh the pros and cons and go with what you are most comfortable with. Good luck with everything!

Have you been able to get off your CPAP yet, that thing bugs me.

  6. Thanks for responding! I realize that everyone is different and will have different reactions to weight loss.

I also see alot of people on here posting about side effects and problems. I kinda just wanted to figure out if these are new to them after the surgery or if they had these problems before and they just didn't go away.

  7. I am a lurker here. My wife got the sleave and I am debating on getting it done. For me it's a personal decision and I won't go into the details.

My question is I have a little bit of acid reflux from time to time, a little bit of insomnia, depression, and I sleep with a CPAP, and I have fatigue. I hear alot of stuff about post op complications and problems dealing with some of these issues.

So I guess my actual question is post op have these things worsened? Is it that you are still dealing with these things and that you thought that they would have gone away, or they seem worse due to your weakened state?

I have lost weight before when I was younger and felt great and all of these issues went away, but I did that without surgery. If I got the surgery will the same thing happen? Or am I going to have side effects?

I can totally live my life comfortable with these issues as of right now, but if they increased then I don't know if I would want to have the surgery.
