How much you can eat ?

I'm six weeks out and have been having tiny salads. Just be sure to chew well! RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)

    100 Pounds Lost Pin

How cool that you got a pin! Yes, wear it with pride. RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)

    Best food/water tracking app

Baritastic might be OK for your needs. I downloaded it, wasn't able to find the first three foods I tried to look up, and deleted the app. Their food database is relatively small; MyFitnessPal's is light years bigger. And the water tracking is fine imo. RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)
  5. Absolutely necessary: a huge database and a reasonably easy way to add foods. The database is the reason I'm on MFP instead of any special bariatric app. RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)
  6. You've got two great suggestions right there: a food scale (doesn't have to be expensive) and some small containers so you can take food with you. You've really got it, but if you're looking for additional items, an attractive water bottle might make it easier for you to drink water (I've got the Camelbak Eddy, but there are tons of water bottles out there). Also, I got one of those hot water plates for when I started to eat more or less solid food: we have to eat so slowly that my food was stone cold before I even got halfway! As far as cold water goes, you might discover that warm liquids feel better. Everyone's different. And don't worry about getting more food; your tastes might change and that's impossible to predict. Sounds like you're really pretty much ready. Good luck! RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)

    Tired of the comments

I can't wait to have this problem, lol! But it'll irk the heck out of me, I know that. RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)

    Today is the DAY!

  10. My surgery was at 2:30 p.m. I was supposed to fast from midnight and drink only clear liquids. But since the surgery was so late, they said I could have a cracker with jam before 8 a.m. I didn't have to stop drinking until I was admitted, about two hours before surgery. It's worth asking! 12. You'll notice the portion sizes aren't as crazy big as in America (though probably still too big for us). Have fun! RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)

    Weight loss

@TeahTeah I know what you mean. I'm 4 weeks out and have lost nothing during the last week. RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)

  20. Does your CPAP come with a humidifier? That really helps. I do wake up with a really dry mouth/throat sometimes anyway; don't know why that is. RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)

    Finding myself

I don't think it's our place to advise for or against medication. (Not targeting any one poster here.) That's a personal decision. But I'm sure *information* is useful. @bluebonz36 good luck with your decision: meds, no meds, or even a combination (meds and therapy). Any tips on chewing slowly?

    Maybe cb750 meant "tiny" and not "2 oz". :-) RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)
  24. Almost four weeks out and pill taking is still not fun, though I can do it. I take a fair number of pills (I'm participating in a research project and their pills are the worst, lol). I kind of dread swallowing them. RNY 14 April 2017 SW: 295 lb / 134 kg GW: 187 lb / 85 kg (I'll see when I get there)

    Thoughts and fears

Hi Caitlyn! I don't have magic answers. What I *can* say is that I'm struck by how you have a very realistic handle on your situation. That's just impressive, and it says to me that you are well on your way to success. As far as the job, I'm only 3-1/2 weeks out and returned to work today (at home, just reading and answering my mails from the last few weeks). I didn't notice any particular cognitive fuzziness. As far as the mood effects, I do read that some people have them, but after the first few days of being a little freaked out, I haven't had any problems. As I said, I'm only a few weeks out, but I feel like I'm doing well! You are intelligent, realistic and positive: try to have faith in yourself. Please keep us posted!
