  1. :help: Got banded January 12 ( 17 days).... Went to the South Florida fair today. I wasn't there 1/2 hour and convinced my husband that I could eat fried dough because I had read that I wouldn't have any restriction until my first fill......WRONG!!!!!! O. M. G. I felt such pain! I remember reading NOT to drink anything and I walked around and that didn't help so I knew I had to find the bathroom. I stuck my finger down my throat [sorry : - ) ] and got sick. My poor husband was so worried I felt better and walked around and knew again that I needed a bathroom. Got sick again. Got home and had some applesauce... ?slimed? I think they call it. It has been a learning expereince. DO I HAVE TO GO BACK ON LIQUIDS.......???????????

    WLS....a spiritual issue?

Tough question! it realy made me think....... I turn my will and my life over to god every day. I was born with an addictive personality. I am addicted to anything that alters the way I feel about myself. I am grateful that I have God and my Band to help me overcome my additction to food and live a better life.

  6. Hi and welcome. I went to my first support meeting after surgery last week. It turns out they were all by pass people. They were very supportive of me and asked what made me decide between the bypass and the lapband. I was very honest and said yes, I could have lost the weight quicker if I had the bypass, but I didn't want anything that drastic. I know I can do it, I just needed help and for me that help was the band. My husband and I just moved to Florida and he was worried about the bypass because I would for ever have problems eating regular foods and it would effect his life more if I had the by pass then the band. I know this was my surgery, but I am married and needed to take his opinion into the equation. I now know I made the right decsion.... especially after that support meeting where 18 - 3 years out the bypass people have to worry about getting their vitamins and still can't enjoy eating regular food in smaller portions. As I said, this is MY LIFE AND MY OPINION.

    Hiatal Hernia

I knew I had the hernia and forgot about it until the doc told me he fixed it during surgery. I do think that I had some additional pain from this repair. He told me that slippage wasn't a problem because he stitched my band in the front and the back to the stomach. This is just me. I think if you trust your doctor, you need to go with what he says.

142 pd loss for a bandster

Wow 142 lbs! That is so inspiring. I used to sit around and say I can't and I didn't. I was banded on January 12 and I was determined to say I can and do! I started walking... not far, but a start. Don't get me wrong, I was out of breath putting my sneakers on. But if I say I can't do it I will be letting the "weight demon" win. Two weeks in and I am walking a mile aday. THAT IS BIG FOR ME. I used to watch people walking and instead of watching I am doing!!!! Today the glass is 1/2 full and I can:scared: ME AND MY NEW FRIEND.... MY BAND!

    Telling Your Family?

Hi Dancer,, If everyone had supportive positive family and people in their lives, telling them wouldn't be a question....... I have no weight problems in my family so my family wouldn't understand. They would just say "why don't you just diet". I love my family and accept them for who they are, but I turn to those in my life today that understand that I am a grown woman making educated decisions. This is a very personal matter. What works for me won't work for all! Good luck in February on your new journey! Donna

    Fill Centers USA

I just got banded in Mexico 13 days ago and live near the fill center in Boynton Beach, Florida. For me it would be cheaper then the local doctors. FEEDBACK APPRECIATED............
  16. Hi all... Got banded January 12. Everything is ok, but I seem to be on uneasy ground. Last night I went to first support meeting at the local hospital. They were all bypass people, most in 2nd year. I decided to stay thinking that I would hear some good things if I listened. I told the group I was dealing with head hunger. The group shared some good things and I was glad I went. I shared with my DH on the way home that I was REALLY head hungry and was not in a good place. One of my biggest problems is night eating. When we got home my DH broke out the cashews while we were watching TV. I thought I would jump across the room and rip his face off. I started :think crying.... and crying.... he is usually kind and wonderfully supportive and I know this is a big change for him as much as me, but he proceeded to say "I thought we discussed this and we weren't going to do this!". Meaning he would be supportive, but he had to live to. He is not a food addict and don't expect him to live my life. We ended up talking it out, but today I have an emotional hangover....I feel alone:cry Move a muscle and change a thought. I am going for my walk.

    January's Chat

Happy Friday Jersey Girls! Thanks for your mails... it keeps me going. Day 8.... Had a little "thing" with DH last night. He went to eat cashews in bed and I about tore his face off. After a bunch of tears:think mine of course, it led to a good dicussion. Having a lot of head hunger. lost 14lbs :clap2: I am walking 1 mile a day and doing the next right thing. Have a great weekend.....

  19. Hey Blue... Welcome to bandland:) I will start with ... I am not an expert!!!! The one thing I have found on this site is EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AND TAKE THE SUGGESTION, BUT DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU AND YOUR BAND! I was banded January 12 (O.M.G.... TODAY IS MY ONE WEEK ANNIVERSARY :biggrin1:) and still feel restriction. I can't gulp anything or eat anything beyond 'cream of.....". My Doc said restriction post op is 1) swelling from surgery and 2) how they put the band on. He told me fill 8 - 10 weeks and the girl after me would be 6 weeks. Time will tell! Good luck on your new journey!!!!

  21. Hey Kim.... I am still having restriction from drinking liquids and get a real tight feeling if I take more then a sip..... Drinking and sitting doesn't seem to work real well for me, but I just had surgery last Thursday. It takes me a full bottle of water to get my meds down.... LOL Oh, well, it that is the price to pay here is my check Glad you are doing well.... d
  22. Hi Everyone.... I just got back from Mexico last night. I had my surgery on Thursday by Dr. Rumbaut. I was more nervous about what would happen after surgery, but everything went great. 23. Hi All, I am officially a Banster! Just got back from Mexico last night. The worst part of the experience was the flights... I thought they would never end. I love Dr. Rumbaut and his staff.
