Hi! So you're 2 years younger than me, so I feel a kinship with you on that, haha. Dr. Illan was my surgeon, and while I did go with the sleeve, one of the other women who was on the same day as me had the MGB done and I've kept track of her progress on the Facebook group page and she's been doing fantastic. Dr. Illan and his entire team are great. You and whoever goes with you will be taken care of the entire time you're there. If something happens while you're there, they'll see to it to get it all taken care of. Now, stateside, most PCP's will have some knowledge of these surgeries. They aren't/won't be experts, but they should still be able to help. I'd suggest reaching out to your PCP ahead of time and let them know what you're planning. They don't need to approve, just be aware and make sure they'll support you post-op. Typically all that's needed post-op wise is blood work to ensure your Vitamin and nutrition levels. If anything else should arise, if they cannot help you, there has to be someone around that could. As well as I know Dr. Illan will still do phone/Skype calls to address anything too.

As for your dad, it's unfortunate he's not supportive. I know most people's first thoughts about going to Mexico is botched surgeries, yadda yadda, but as long as you do your research (which sounds like you have), you'll end up in good hands. It's about you and your health, and he's likely just scared because he doesn't know anything/much about the procedure, the doctor, the hospital, etc. There is a thread in the Mexico forum where Bill Yanez has posted MANY video testimonials from Dr. Illan's patients. It's something that could help ease your mind, and if your dad was ever open to doing so, even his.

Hi all, I am getting my MGB surgery on May 16th, and I had a question for you guys who have already done it.

Do you actually feel hungry or not? Or is it just that you know your stomach can't handle much food? Like do you actually feel full or what? Do small portions feel satisfying? I'm a little confused about how surgery with change my body. Any comments are appreciated. :D

I got the surgery about 4 weeks ago, and Yes, you do feel hungry. Your mind plays tricks on you, telling you you want food but once you eat broth or a yogurt your hunger goes away plus you get full so quick. I have been doing well so far, but I do get hungry Ill snack on a cracker, or drink more Water and I'm full. You will do fine, it's what we all want, to eat less now we have a tool that helps us do that.

  3. hello,

Well those who don't know I just got my surgery May 3 of this year. So far so good down 15lbs not sure if that is good or bad. I'm on week 5 and I don't know exactly what to eat. Everytime I eat something I just feel this pain going down my chest. Then I get over it. I have tried shredded chicken, tuna and so far nothing good. I have ate chips which I know what am I thinking. I only at 2 and that went so smooth. Help I don't know what foods to eat and is the pain normal.

I had my gastric bypass 11/9/16 I was 237 I am 5'3' and have gone from a size 22 or 3X to a size 10 in 5 months down 88 pounds. Is it easy NO. It has been a re-learning experience everyday since the surgery. I am so glad I had the surgery and only wish I did it when I was younger like you. I also was diabetic and was off all meds 2 days after surgery. My joints no longer hurt, my muscle spasms at night are gone and not bones spurs in my heels no longer are an issue. Wishing you the best.

Thank you. I'm so nervous it's for next month. I'm doing this for plenty of reasons and I don't want to get bigger. I hope all goes well in my surgery. I'm scared to have those urges but Dr says gherlin hormone is removed so I won't crave as much it's all in my mind. I hope to have a good experience

It actually went really well they fixed a hernia from a previous gallbladder surgery and that's the spot that hurts the most.... I will say they wanted me up and walking the floor every 2 hours and I have been doing every 1 hour. The gas pain really is the worst of it. It's amazing how much I don't want food stuff I normally before was drooling over is just kinda meh feeling. Totally worth it in the end the pain is not bad I had no reason to be so nervousemoji3.png

Congratulations wow I'm so glad u didn't get that much pain and I'm glad to hear it went so well :) that's what I'm scared of having those cravings. I don't know I'm scared but your experience seems like it's going well. Best on ur journey keep in touch

  6. I really want to do the procedure, I'm new to the group I haven't set up anything. I did consult and I'm super excited because my main reason doing this is to have children I have struggled my weight all my life. I have tried Herbalife, teas, pills and on my own going to the gym. I'm no less than 220 lbs but scared to get bigger. I'm also diabetic type 2, I changed my ways of eating but temptation is all around. So when I want a bad foods I gain weight, get bloated. I snore alot, I have allergies, Asmtha and I get numbess on my body, and getalot of leg cramps. I been trying to lose weight and no success, I'm scared not to be able to have children after a certain age. I have tried everything, hormone shots, birth control and no luck with children. I have faith that one day I will have my little ones. Off topic so I'm really planning this procedure but I would like feed back on people's experience, I'm scared I may lose touch much weight, or something may go wrong. I've read stories and not good ones. Can you all tell me ur experience the good the bad.
