Funniest commercial
I still love the commercial where the guy takes the VW out for a test drive and then is standing beside it in the parking lot Ooooo-ing and ahhhh-ing over it and he sees a couple walking towards him and the car with a saleman so he bends down and licks the handle...lol...I think most people would only find it super funny if you had a soft spot for VW's but it so reminded me of being a kid and touching certain cookies on the plate first kind of like you were claiming those for yourself because they now had your germs on them.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
I was told that the band a person gets is dependent on their anatomy. My friend and I had the surgery at the same time and we have different bands. I'm filled to 5.5 ccs right now and have okay restriction. Julie- Are you sure you have the 10cc band? How could it only hold 4.2 ccs?

Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp
Hey all, Yesterday was a good day all round. Cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast Lentil soup for lunch Uhmm next to nothing for supper because the pork chop got stuck right at the beginning A cup of veggies with dip 1 Piece of turkey pepperoni 1 bite of vanilla ice cream...1 bite! got all my water in and ended up staying home again because of my cold but did 30 runs up and down my stairs in my house....in three sets of 10. I'm also doing crunches at night because I'm really scared of what my stomach is going to look like at the end of this. Husband is also hiding my scale because I'm being ridiculous about weighing so from now on I only get the scale on Monday morning. P.S. I don't think that skim milk counts for water but try adding a flavor packet like crystal light to it....that helps a ton of people get all their water in. Have a great day all!

How do u deal with stress??
Okay I'm going to open up a little about something because I so feel what you're going through right now Cloe. About 6 weeks ago I started to really feel like I was going to come out of my skin. My inability to control my stress and anxiety was taking over and I felt like I was going to completely fall apart. For 2 and a half decades I ate my pain,stress,fear,anger...everything...I ate it away. Now here I was with the inability to sooth myself with food and I DID NOT know how to cope with that. So I joined Over eaters Anonymous. I wanted to know how to incorporate normal coping mechanisms into my life. Though my overeating wasn't in mass quantities at one time, I knew I was still dealing with an addiction of sorts. It could have been alcohol, drugs, shopping, gambling...any of those....it just happened to be food. I've only been going for a couple of weeks....but I feel better for going. It's one or two days out of my week that give me the small glimmer of hope that maybe I can beat this. We all know that the band doesn't do all the work...and I am definitely finding alot of the head work more difficult than the changes I've had to make in the kitchen. Stay focused Cloe....things will get better. Ultimately your daughter is at the age where she's going to make her own choices regardless of what you say....as much as it sucks there really isn't anything you can do about it. I'm sure there were many many times when my mom wanted to strangle the life out of me....but she had to just let me go...I wish I had known how hard that would be...I have a 14 year old and it's so hard already...lol...I can only guess what the next 5 years will bring. My thoughts are with you...take care.

Do I need to thin out the fruits and veggies?
Just curious what they recommend to you?

July 2006 Band Crew
Maybe it's a 6 month plateau or something. I'm right there with you Sherryjo. I've lost 4 pounds in the last 5 weeks. I still get stuck very often but am not staying satisfied for nearly as long as usual though my appetite isn't huge I can sure notice a difference. I'm scared to get a fill because I'm still experiencing restriction but I'm not quite sure why there isn't a loss happening. I know it will pass as it will for you to....try not to get down....keep yer chin up...only you know if you really need a fill or just need to modify your eating...having to drive all the way back for unfills can't be fun...but maybe you do need a little something....take care though....let us know how it goes.

Do I need to thin out the fruits and veggies?
In denial: I may have given the impression that I'm struggling with the limited quantities....that is not my struggle at all...I have to pay attention to what I'm eating so that I cam make sure and get enough Protein in. Alot of us on here are trying to find creative ways to cover all the food groups because you really can't eat that much at one time. Most of the time I don't feel like I'm dieting even though I'm eating healthy food...I'm just trying to get the best nutrional value I can for each meal...I'm rarely hungry and so I, like many others have to try to make the best choices we can when we are hungry. Jachut: I eat TONS of veggies....steamed and raw...I guess maybe it's possible to over do it on the good carbs. That menu was for today and doesn't reflect what I eat every day. I have steamed veggies with almost every dinner...but I do think that somewhere along the way I'm going to have to cut back on carbs....I always seem to do best on a higher protein/low carb kind of plan...I guess I just wasn't taking into a count all the carbs(even though they are good carbs) that are in fruits and vegetables.

Do I need to thin out the fruits and veggies?
Thanks Gayle....if I can do 50g of fruit and veg carbs a day that should work for me. Aside from a few crackers there really isn't any white carbs that work for me so it's really just the fruits and veggies that I love having. Thanks a ton for the info.

Do I need to thin out the fruits and veggies?
Hey all, Okay so here is my question. I've been monitoring all my food consumption for the last 2 weeks because I haven't lost any weight and for someone with a loooong ways to go it seems odd considering that I'm averaging about 1000 calories a day with 70ish or so grams of Protein. However I believe that maybe my issue is the carbs. Today I am at 1001 calories, 71 g protein, but 55 g of carbs. When I look at my meal plan though it just doesn't seem that bad to me. cottage cheese with del monte fruit cup 1 serving of turkey pepperoni Small taco salad(home made) extra lean and rinsed ground beef, light ranch and salsa 1 piece of licorice and 15 small crisper crackers. I know that the crackers added a nice 24 carbs and the licorice gave me 8 carbs but I'm wondering about the fruit salad. At 23 grams of carbs per tin...is that horrific? Do I need to give up the fruit with my cottage cheese? I have a hard time with a lot of fresh fruit and this seemed like a great alternative but now I'm not so sure. Any suggestions? Keeping in mind that the crackers are not an every day thing but the fruit definitely is as well as veggies and dip most days too. Here I thought I was eating so healthy but it don't seem to me working and I'm just wondering if those little cans of fruit are just too much. Thanks all

Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp
Turner....the crystal light totally counts for Water consumption. I have no trouble with my water these days but that's because I'm addicted to crushed ice...lol. My weekend went great though I stayed the same weight wise. I've been getting all my water in and doing really well on the eating....just trying to set up a membership at a leisure center so that I can get on the exercising part....you guys all seem to be doing great on that aspect. Keep up the hard work!!

I'll take some cheese with my whine please..8(
See that is exactly why I come on here....so that I can listen to all the mostly sane people tell me what I need to hear to feel better....especially when I feel like I'm going insane....thanks all.
-
I'll take some cheese with my whine please..8(
I think it's mostly just taking stock of everything that makes me think maybe I need a little fill and I think that the weigh in was kind of just the clincher that confirmed that. I have noticed that I'm not staying full for as long as I usually do and as such am eating a little bit more frequently than I was....though not in huge quantities....geez it gets hard sometimes to not over analize every single little thing that I'm doing and to not start freaking out that I'm gonna be one of the ones that just doesn't get the weight off even with the assistance of the band....I know I have to relax....I just put a TON of pressure on myself to get it done....lol...I need to chill out. Thanks for the encouragement and the little bit of Sass from Yoda.....guess I'll leave it for a bit and see how it goes.

I'll take some cheese with my whine please..8(
10 days and still the same...*dum de dum*....that sucks. I'm going to my room to have a tantrum where I throw things around that don't make a big mess or break anything...lol....since I have to pick it all up afterwards....guess I'm not at my sweet spot...my doctor was so sure this last fill would do for a bit....oh well...guess I'm going back in. I'm done whining now...g'nite all.

Not Recommended to have Lap Band???!!!
I wouldn't even bother with the same doctor....I'd get a second opinion from a different doc and there are a couple in Mexico who are fabulous surgeons. Don't fret.....just do some more digging and be sure to let us know how it goes.

I'm counting this as a NSV fer sure!
Okay so the DH and I decide to take in a movie this evening and I since it was kind of a date I decide to get dolled up. Cute shirt and sweater....makeup....hair lookin totally cute since my new cut....and off we go....me toting my oh so cute Juicy bag and feeling pretty dang good about myself...(can't even remember how long it's been since I actually felt like maybe I looked sort of cute) We went to the movie (Pursuit of Happyness if anyone cares about that part) Anyhoo we're walking out of the theater and there is this guy standing there...I'd say early 30's and I'm 34 so the age was reasonable(this story wouldn't be nearly as exciting to me if the guy was an old geezer) So he's standing at a pillar as I walk by and he nods and smiles and I smile back. I get on the escalator going down in the theater and he smiles again and I smile back and we both kind of look away and then I kind of giggle and DH looks at me with this odd look on his face and I say What! Anyhow DH goes to the biff and I wait in the lobby and this guy walks by me to head out the door and says "You smell nice" What!!??! I'm like " uh thanks"....okay I felt like an idiot and was totally blushing when DH came out of the bathroom. Wow I really veered off on a tangent there but the bottom line is....I think that guy was kind of flirting with me a little and holy shite....it felt really good...I've only lost 58 pounds and I have a loooooong ways to go but I'm carrying myself differently these days and I think other people notice that...okay so I'm done...just thought I would share.

Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp
Okay I am so in on this. I need a little fire under my butt to get going on the exercise end of things. I'm aiming for 25 pounds by March 6th. Been doing great on the Water but trying not to be addicted to the frickin scale. Now I have to choose to suck it up and brave the minus 30 to get out and exercise....omg I need to find some form of exercise to do in the house....guess I'm doing Dance Dance revolution with my 10 year old...lol. Have a great weekend all.....not a long weekend for us up here in Canada.

Saskatoon Saskatchewan girl in need of answers
Oh don't get me wrong mine is definitely slimy....it just seems to come out more in string form rather than a lump...I'm really trying to make a huge effort to not let myself get really hungry before I eat and to chew an obnoxious amount so that I can avoid the PB's and sliming all together...I'll be really proud of myself when I get that part down pat.
