  1. Wow....I haven't been on in ages...you all are doing soooo great. I've been in a funk for the last month or so. Just bummed I guess. I lost 10 pounds the first month and then any restriction left over from surgery just faded away. Haven't lost anything the whole month ....went for a fill today so I'm really hoping that will help....starting to worry that my husband wasted 10 thousand dollars...anyways keep up the good work...take care all.
  2. Well I'll definitely get him to pull it back out after he puts it in. My appointment isn't until the 22nd though just because I needed to wait till I was passed the 6 week mark, otherwise I would go sooner. I wonder if I have the option of going straight to the hospital for future appts if he isn't successful this time?
  3. Okay so I went ahead and made an appt with Dr. Mitchell for my first fill. Aside from a few thing giving me really minor discomfort, everything goes down. I'm not eating huge quantities but I'm not losing any weight either. I asked the receptionist how he does his fills....lol....she said he basically just feels around and hopes he hits it....GREAT!...This should be fun...I have to be optimistic though...there isn't anyone else around here that I know of. Why didn't I get to be the poster child that goes 16 months with no fill and loses 120 pounds?
  4. Well DH didn't see me until 8 days after my surgery.....needless to say, we waited 8 days. I wasn't too worried....I knew it wouldn't be vigorous, just quick...lol.
  5. Well I'm counting down the days to my fill. Any actual restriction is pretty much gone. My portions are less but definitely not one cup. I was really hoping that I wasn't going to have to get a fill right away but it's sure looking like I will. Bummer. BTW congratulations to the newly banded!!
  6. Thanks all so much for the encouragement. I've had a few blue moments here and there but I'm feeling much better overall. I'm just not going to obsess about the scale. Vines I poured through your journal and just want you to know....so much of what you say is so inspiring to me. How you choose to live your life through all its challenges....just really makes me want to strive to be more. Anyways...enough babbling....I'm off to eat something...lol.
  7. As per Sunshines request.....a dirty joke to give this thread a greater purpose....lol. A pickle, a penis and a cucumber walk into a bar and sit down. The pickle says "man is my life tough, when I get hard and juicy someone slices me up and eats me." The cucumber says " Man when I get hard and juicy someone cuts me up and pours salt on me." The penis says "you guys that's nothing....when I get hard and juicy someone puts a plastic bag over my head, sticks me in a dark hole and makes me do push ups till I puke." Budumpbump!!
  8. Hey all, So when I got the band on July 8th, I made the commitment that I wouldn't get obsessed about the number on the scale. That I would do everything I could and how ever much the number went down each week...I would be okay with it. So I weighed today...2 weeks post op and I've lost 9 lbs. But I was kind of dissappointed thinking...holy cow I've lived on liquids for 2 weeks and that's it? I actually laid down on the bed and had a huge cry and I don't know why. 4.5lbs a week should be great to me...but I feel like I have to lose this weight...and the 10,000 dollars can't have been wasted. Gosh I guess I'm just having a hard day or something...I'm just terrified....what if I fail? I don't really feel any restriction and I know it's because the liquids are just passing through. Is it normal that I can eat about 1 and a half cups of Soup and not really feel terribly full? Okay...thanks for letting me have my moment.
  9. Well I'm still waiting for someone to post a message saying that I can't give head anymore due to gagging issues.....though my Dh said a refund is in order if that's the case. On yet another sexual note...I feel like all I've done is have sex since I came home from Mexico...aren't I supposed to be waiting like 6 weeks or something?? Maybe he's just hornier because I'm so cheerful these days...well up until today that is. Geeez gotta luv em for thinking 300lbs is sexy...*bleck*
  10. Soooo....Saturday I start mushies and I'm thinkin that watermelon fits that catergory. My granny eats it all the time with no teeth in...lol. I know it's a stretch but I reckon I might just chew some up and then spit it out just to taste it..(too much info)...The Soup de jour is getting a tad old. Okay I'm done whining.
  11. Good luck!! Everyone here is rooting for you to have a speedy recovery.
  12. You'll be fine hun, I was convinced that something was going to stop me from getting the surgery. It's just the nerves that get to you. You're going to do great and a couple weeks from now you are going to be posting words of encouragement to who ever gets their turn next. Take care and know that your LBT family is thinking of you.
  13. Sending happy thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery for evreyone that is coming up in the next day or two!!
  14. Hey there, Welcome to LBT. I just got back from being banded by Dr.Kuri in TJ. Good luck and I hope your trip and surgery go as smoothly as mine did....you'll do great!
  15. Sherri, I was banded 2 days before you and my port totally sticks out. I'm hoping that it's still swollen in that area. I can feel my port from end to end of my insision. I have a loooooong ways to go though before I'm thin so I'm trying not to worry about it right now. Good to see that you and Amy are recovering nicely.
  16. Hey all, Well I'm finally back home safe and sound. I'm exhausted. I was banded on the 8th and up until the 15th had absolutely no hunger what so ever. I was only eating to keeping up nutrition. I'm on full liquids now and then mushies start on the 22nd. I don't feel intense hunger but I don't feel restriciton either. I'm ready and waiting to move onto mushies...this stage is getting kinda boring. I've decided to stay away from the scale for awhile or I just get too obsessed with it. Sound like anyone else out there? My port site seems really swollen like my port feels like it's 3 inches wide...that's normal right? All the other incisions are totally great...clean lines but all the strips are off...only my port site is driving me crazy. Welp looks like potato soup is on the menu this evening so I'm off...take care all.
  17. Hey all, So almostready76 and I had our surgeries on Saturday and we flew home to her place on the 10th. It all went totally great. The hospital and hotel in TJ were beautiful and we spent lots of time with 3 other girls who were all banded the same day...one of whom spoke spanish so that was great since the nursing staff had very broken english. Dr. Kuri and his staff were so awesome and just really kind. Miguel, our driver who picked us up in San Diego was interesting. I saw my life flash before my eyes many times on the ride there....lol. It was kind of surreal....just thinking that we were in Mexico and really doing this....we laughed sooo much while we were there and surgery went really smooth. The last few days have been kind of rough. The gas pains spread through both of our backs pretty badly today to the point where it hurt so much to move. Neither of us has any kind of appetite and have basically been eating just to keep out of fasting mode. That's probably been the strangest thing is to go 5 days without food really and not really be wanting it. Though we have talked about food alot...just things that sound good but not that we actually want to eat right now. Over all it was a smooth experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr.Kuri to anyone. I hope everyone coming up has as positive experience as we did and takes the time to rest and heal. BTW....our incisions are also healing really quickly too...that was kind of surprising to me.
  18. Welp since I'm in mini melt down mode with only 4 days to go until surgery...I of course had a good cry when I read your post. That has never happened to me...but purely because I avoided it. I cried because I started thinking about all the things that we miss out on because we let ourselves get this way. The trips I've not gone on because I was terrified I would need a seat belt extension. The rides I've never riden. The places I avoid because I don't know if I'll fit in the booth. Worrying that I'll crowd the person beside me in the movie theater. All the sacrifices that my children have made and the price they have paid for having a fat mom. I hate living with that. We all have humiliations and moments of embarrasment. What matters now is that you are trying to change your life for the better. Next year no one will be able to wipe the smile off your face as you slide comfortably into the seat.
  19. I know how ya feel...*sigh* Diet Coke was a staple in my diet....loved....loved....loved it... I switched to Caffeine free a couple years ago because I think I was overdosing on caffeine and my family was getting scared of me...lol. Then last year when I quit smoking I had to give up the diet coke because for me they went hand in hand. But alas because I have an addictive personality I had to find something to replace both of those things and decided to start drinking MUG rootbeer which quickly became my new addiction and I was hard core with that stuff....but holy cow...the carbs and sugar and calories....when I booked my surgery I knew I had to give it up. I now drink Crystal light ice tea. You have to just find something you like to replace it. You can do it!
  20. Stephanie, Good luck tomorrow...you'll do great!
  21. Wow July is going to be the month of new beginnings for alot of people! 6 days to go for me and my best friend. Sending happy thoughts to all those going in the next couple days.
  22. Maybe she found out she's not moving and now we're unworthy...lol.
  23. Hey Kelly, I'm still on my two week preop. The first couple days were reeeeeally hard but after that it gets way easier. Just keep your eye on the prize and you'll do fine. I go in only 4 days before you and I'm definitely getting pretty excited. Good luck and welcome to the club.
  24. Hey there, Wow I had an emotional melt down yesterday and then again this morning. It must be the nerves. I'm so excited but definitely getting anxious now. The preop is going fine for me. I get to have a little Protein rich food so that seems to be keeping me sane. Plus I found a really decent Protein Drink. I tried the whey Gourmet shakes and didn't like them. But PVL also make Whey Cooler which is ice tea mix and it is great! I add a packet of Crystal light ice tea to my bottle and then it tastes just like ice tea. 80 calories,1carb and 20 protein per serving. That has helped a ton. I've lost quite a bit of weight too during my first week of preop so I think that has really kept me on the straight and narrow. Anyways...I hope all is well for those on preops and for those preparing their mind mentally for surgery. BTW Zoe I go to Dr.Kuri too....mine is on the 8th. My best friend and I have heard nothing but great hings about him. Later gang.
