Thank you for the encouragement. It's really hard to be losing so slowly. I know as long as the scale is going down, something is working, maybe just not as hard as it could be if I was perfectly on plan. I eat fruit sometimes and I have beef sometimes. Sometimes I even eat chocolate! So I definitely have room for improvement on my diet.

i think we need those little treats! I am down in the dumps and was having some wine tonight. But FAR LESS than I would have had before the surgery. FAR LESS of everything! So it is better than it was but not as good as I thought it would be! Keep the 1 year surgeverasry or whatever it's called in mind. When you get there, then evaluate!!

    You will do it!!

Hi Sleevers. Think this is my week 8 update. Another 3lbs off! Wish it was more but 3lbs, is 3lbs. Kind of settling on 3lbs a week.

I'm no longer in the class 3 obese category. Now class 2. No idea what that really means but sounds good.

Evening meals are still a hassle. This was when I did most of my eating in front of the tv and now, I just can't eat quantity. Good job really but it does piss me off! We had steak last night with a potato salad. I managed two bites of steak and that was me done. I left it for an hour or do then ate the rest of my tiny steak cause it tasted so good.

Breakfast, lunch are ok. I do get hung up feeling guilty on eating a snack. Even if it's a little ham or chicken. I know I shouldn't but I do. I've found a slice of bread from a baguette about 1/2" thick topped with some Brie or Camembert is a great little snack. Around 100 calories but so worth it lol

Hope you've all had a good week x

Who;s got an update??! Can I get an AMEN??! Hows it going out there??!

  3. You are doing great but it is hard to lose slowly. Especially when you see so many posts of people losing astronomical amounts of weight in such short times.

I truly believe that when you can 'work it' it works but if you are emotional, angry, or unconscious about choices it does not work. I've had all of the above like everyone !! But I am convinced that if I eat Protein and low carb and avoid being sedentary the weight slowly drops off. Not after this past weekend... I ate WAY too many carbs and I was up 3 lbs!! YIKES I am freaking out. But you know what??? I'm also going through a divorce, a kid finished high school and lots of other change.

As long as you get back at it, it will happen.

It's there for you when you are able.

Good luck! Don't beat yourself up. It's a journey!

Wanted to update- i weighed myself today out of curiosity. I haven't in months. I have actually lost a few pounds since I really committed to Intuitive Eating full force and since the last time I weighed myself. I weigh exactly what I wish to weigh.

So there ya go! Do what you will but there is a life beyond dieting forever. I am the proof.

Me today. Today I ate a Breakfast sandwich, a bite of chocolate croissant, some icee of my kids, a goat cheese chicken salad, a glass of wine, a cheeseburger, 2 Mai thais, and an egg sandwich and a cookie.

    IMG_8644.JPG

I love your message (even tho the haters gonna hate) and I am so glad it's working for you! I would love to get to that place! I do feel like the sleeve suits this kind of plan because it limits how much you can eat but not what you can eat. And I would love to be able to have a drink now and then!! Thanks for this topic! And congrats. You look so healthy and happy.

Hi Sleevers. A bit of a late update as we've been on a little holiday to France to see friends.

Managed to kind of stick to programme over the holiday. Lots of small snack type meals. The food there really does taste good emoji4.png.
So I weighed this morning and I'm 5lbs down. Result! Total lost since op, 41lbs!!! In just over 6 weeks!!!

food - Finding eating smaller meals but a little more frequently much better for me. I'm finding I get kind of hungry a few hours after eating so I eat something small and I'm fine for another few hours. Still drinking plenty of tea and sugar free fruit drinks.

Mental health - The holiday and seeing friends did me the world of good. It took my mind off the food pretty much for a whole week. I shared about my surgery with my friends in france and talking about it helped I'm sure. They were very supportive.

Exercise - no dedicated exercise as I was doing before the holiday but I walked quite a lot and felt pretty tired. Speaking a little french and concentrating more was hard work!

Back home and back to programme now. Hope you've all had a good week or two.

Sounds like a wonderful holiday! Post a pic or two. We lived in France in 2009 - I swear you could eat there and not gain weight - there was something so healthy about the food even when it did consist of lots of bread and cheese! I'm also happy for your post. Great to hear how you are doing. And its all going in the right direction.

I feel like I'm learning to see the long road ahead and know that its not a quick fix even tho it seemed like it at first! And if I mess up get back at it because the 'tool' lets you do that.

Smaller meals more often for me are also working. and weighing myself less. I was so happy to put on a bathing suit that I could barely get on last summer and find that it was loose! that was such a treat.

I saw my uncle lumbering around with terrible knees (he's had both done already), sweating, pale, extremely overweight and I wanted to tell him about procedure! It is so painfully recognizable to be in that state. even losing 30 lbs (my amount so far) has made a workd of difference. I'm worried for him - he does alot of physical labour around the cottage and I fear he will have a heart attack. In any case, what can you do - no could tell me to lose weight or to eat better in the past! So how could I ever think of telling him? I guess we only have our own journeys.

Glad to have this group for a check in. Keep up the good work and the updates coming!

    Take care,

    Cass

PS While you were in France, this is what happened to me: Stevie arrived!! (that's her in the tiny bathroom sink)

I AM SCHEDULED FOR MY GASTRIC SLEEVE ON JULY 8TH IN Tijuana, Mexico WITH DR. GUTIERREZ AT MI DOCTOR HOSPITAL...

WITH A LITTLE OVER A MONTH TO GO, I AM STARTING TO HAVE SECOND THOUGHTS..

I AM 5'9, WITH A BMI OF ABOUT 31-32. IT IS A LOWER BMI, BUT STILL OBESE ACCORDING TO STANDARDS. I HAVE HAD SO MANY PEOPLE TELL ME THAT I AM CRAZY AND "DO NOT NEED IT"... IVE HAD THOSE TELL ME THAT IM JUST THICK OR "BIG BONED" (THATS CRAP, WE ALL KNOW IT.. OUR BONES ARE ALL THE SAME) AND THAT I JUST NEED TO WATCH WHAT I EAT. WELL, I HAVE. IVE SPENT YEARS BEING "BIGGER" (THE FAT GIRL), AND WHILE ATHLETIC AND MUSCULAR, COULD NOT GET THE EXTRA WEIGHT OFF. I'VE TRIED CLEAN EATING, supplements (HEALTHY AND NOT), AND ENDLESS HOURS AT THE GYM. MY BODY WOULD GET TO A CERTAIN WEIGHT AND STOP. NOT JUST A MONTH LONG PLATEAU.. 1 YEAR OF MAINTAINING THE SAME REGIMEN, AND NO CHANGE. FRUSTRATED, TIRED, AND OVER IT, BINGE EATING WOULD COME AND GO.

SHOULD I BE ASHAMED TO BE GETTING THIS SURGERY JUST BECAUSE IM "NOT FAT ENOUGH", BUT STILL FAT? MAYBE IM TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BEFORE IT GETS WORSE? IM SURE THERE ARE THOSE OF YOU OUT THERE THAT UNDERSTAND THAT NO AMOUNT OF "YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL'S" IS GOING TO CHANGE GENUINE UNHAPPINESS WITH YOUR OWN BODY. AND LET ME CLARIFY.. I DONT WANT TO BE SKINNY.. I WANT TO BE FIT. IVE SPENT YEARS BUILDING AMAZING MUSCLE TONE THAT IS OVER SHADOWED BY RELENTLESS FAT STORAGE THAT I CANNOT GET RID OF. RUNNING HAS BECOME A HARDSHIP ON MY KNEES BECAUSE OF EXCESS WEIGHT, AND BACK ISSUES TO FOLLOW. IVE NEVER BEEN ONE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THOSE THINGS, BUT IT IS PAINFUL. I WILL BE 28 YEARS OLD JULY 14TH, HAVE NO KIDS, AND AM PLANNING A WEDDING FOR NEXT YEAR TO THE MOST AMAZING MAN IN THE WORLD. (HE ALSO SAYS HE LOVES ME EXACTLY THE WAY I AM BUT WANTS ME TO BE HAPPY AND SUPPORTS MY DECISION TO DO THIS). I WANT TO FIND MYSELF, THE ABSOLUTE BEST ME, BEFORE MY LIFE REALLY GETS STARTED.
I AM EXCITED, SCARED, NERVOUS, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN. MEXICO?? WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY?? IS THIS REALLY A GOOD IDEA??

ANYONE ELSE STRUGGLED WITH THESE THOUGHTS? SUCCESS STORIES OF LOWER BMI??

    HELP!

I think you should TOTALLY do it and the people with their comments can go fly a kite. It's your life and you've had to live with your feeling of being big for the whole time. who are they to say what is right for you!?

AND FURTHERMORE (since I am on my soapbox), I WISH WISH WISH WISH that I would have had surgery sooner when my BMI was lower and it would have been that much easier to get down to a healthy weight. Why would you wait until you got heavier>?! do it now but know as everyone says, you still have lots of effort ahead of you.

    good luck!

I have the same issue/question. I'm getting married in 7 weeks and REALLY want to have a little wine with the wedding party in the Limo and a sip or two when we do our toast, I just don't know if it's ok or now. At that point I will be 4 months post op!! Any advice??

You should have a little wine!! It's your wedding for gawd's sakes! Hell, just a little wine won't kill ya. I was a big wine drinker and have experimented with one glass on two separate occasions. I am only 5 weeks out so I am a baddie. But you know what? I didnt even like the taste or the feeling. It was NOTHING like my old relationship with wine so I am glad I found out.

    happy wedding!!

  8. You guys are the best! ALways learn something and get an insight. Thanks!! AmadaWho I hope you are now almost done. So hard when you're in it - so hardly a memory when it's behind you! I can barely remember - it's all a blur even though I'm only 5 weeks out. ha ha maybe it's my memory or I just wanted to forget. Soon it will be over!

Now I understand why I can't stomach Protein shakes! I hate sweet! that's it. Too bad they don't make 'chips and dip' flavour or 'doritos' or KFC!! They would have some takers!

Hope everyone is doing well on this Monday morning!

Ladddaay (read this with a terrible Jerry Lewis impression) How've you been?

Thanks, but I never really did pre-op dieting. I was/am in the research program so they just gave me their meal plan three nights before surgery, for two days, and then they put me on liquids 24 hours before my surgery. I mean, I think I lost six pounds..but nothing drastic like you and so many here.

And physically fit exes with a side of arrogant @sshole--yeah, I had one of those too. I used to have to be around him all the time, but thankfully I havent seen him in three years since my daughter graduated high school. I should've dropped him in College when he told me to join a gym because I was 140.

i hope you're doing well and kicking mucho @ss!!!!

Imagine being chastized for your weight at 140!! Ridiculous. I remember one of my old boyfriends saying he'd never seen me heavier when I was 136 (in high school)!. There were always the comments - oh she'd be perfect if she just lost that last 5 pounds... little did we or they know this would lead us to have to lose the last 50 or a hundred pounds!

How are you doing anyway? Hope it's going well. I'm in a slump - didnt weight myself all last week and thought I had lost but I'd gained! I am not eating enough veggies or Protein Shakes, etc. It feels like I'm never doing it uite right. I get that feeling from everybody! Just about. except the really arrogant ones.

I joined a great Facebook group that is constant moitvation. you should check it outl. let me know if you want the link

Thinking about you and all the APRIL SLEEVERS out there!!

@Cass ElliotI just noticed you're in Canada.. did you have surgery here or in Mexico? And how long was your pre-op diet?

Hi! Sorry - haven't been on the forum for a while. Thanks for reaching out. I had my srugery in Mexico and did pre-op for about 10 days. Only a week was required but I felt like I wanted to be really ready! How about you?

    Congratulations and welcome!

I'm curious. What brand of shakes are you using? For instance, the Premier Protein shakes have 30 grams of Protein per shake. Are you not finishing even one shake a day? Have you tried eggs or chicken yet? Does that hurt your stomach too? I'm just trying to figure out how you can get more protein in, because your body and skin needs that, and Water, for proper healing and shrinking.

You can always get the unflavored Protein Powder to add to your yogurts. I feel like anymore I survive on chicken breasts. I sometimes eat my oikos triple zero vanilla yogurt, but really do eat my protein first, then that other stuff. Either way, it's hard meeting these protein goals some days.

For me, I got my period the night I came home from the hospital, so I was bloated and gassy anyway.

Finding_Stacy - you little vixen!! Have you lost FIFTY POUNDS almost??!! (yah yah I know preop diet blah blah) who gives a **** when the weight loss started!! The fact that it is happening is so freaking awesome. Sounds like you're doing great and I love how curious you always are and engaged. I havent' been on the site for a while. It was prom! (not mine ha ha). Very busy times but lovely. And I even felt better being in photos than I have in a long long time. Especially beside my ex who only eats salmon and veggies and exercises CONSTANTLY. (he was a big reason I rebelled and gained so much weight because he would always judge me and ask if I exercised or went to weight watchers). What an arse. This surgery is designed for me to loose the shame I felt and teh anger. Whoops! didn't mean to get so deep. Funny how that happens. Hope you are dong well. Send me some news!

I got my sleeve on April 27th and I know I'm a little late to the conversation. I haven't told many people, so it's really nice to find this community. It would be really nice to talk with people who are going through the same thing.

Yes! Welcome... this is a great forum and this group is wonderful because we are all figuring it out together. Hope you are doing well and finding your way. If you have any questions, ask Finding_Stacy - she is the sleeve queen!

I always say that I live in the wrong country only because my boobs don't salute the flag, they bow to a king.

    HW: 328 (02/21/17)
    CW: 275 (preop 53# disowned)

That is hilarious (and sad of course!). If this is a contest for the worst boobs, I am definitely in the running! One of mine is twice as big and the other (and it bows to the king) and the other is more pert and facing a bit straighter out. Who;s gonna love these lopsided boobs?! And I know there is more to come because I havent really lost that much weight yet in the grand scheme of things. I will wait and see what tomorrow brings but it aint gonna be pretty!

  14. Great of you to check in and update us on progress! I love hearing how it is going. I am also curious about the Pasta (supposed to expand in your stomach) but I also feel like almost any food is possible, it's just the quantity. There's a WLS master on this site who talks about the Keto diet alot and he is a long way into this process. I like the keto because fat is encouraged (especially certain types) and Protein. Check it out under Keto or InsideMatchesOutside (his name) or something like that.

I am happy and excited because the weight continues to come off - not weighing myself all the time and sometimes I eat something yummy (cheesecake for example) and I still loose. I'm just not eating that much of anything and I try really hard to get my protein. It's so motivating to get the results! I still need to walk more (and I will). It's been crazy busy with my 3 kids - prom and all kinds of exciting stuff. But tonight I made an awesome Soup and I'm enjoying some quiet!

Wishing you well and keep the updates coming!!

    Thanks

    Cass

I'm a clean Keto eater. I almost never make recipes. They are expensive with a lot of replacement products.

    My grocery list is

    Steak

    Pork chops

    Bacon

    Fish

    Sausage

    Heavy cream

    Cream cheese

    Butter

    Olive oil

    Spinach

    Zucchini

    coffee

    liquid stevita

You seem to have this down! Do you eat any other cheeses besides cream cheese? I am early into the process (had surgery April 24) and cheese is one of the little nibbles I can get down easily when I am really hungry. IT takes the edge off and I don't need much to feel satisfied because it is so flavourful.

thanks and congrats on such success!

There should've been a warning label that came with this surgery: No longer taking people's **** is a major side effect .

Have you tried eating bread, or anything starchy like that, yet? I read and heard that can get stuck in your throat. I haven't yet. I still live under a great fear of so many things going wrong, or me losing my way, that it keeps me eating what I know is easy. I'm not that adventurous. I probably eat 1 1/2 chicken breasts a day because I know I can. For some reason I can eat three ounces of chicken but only half of a scrambled egg.

That is true! A label is needed!

I've tried a little pad thai (like a noodle or two), a little bit of rice and today a tiny bit of the inside of a bagette. I've had no problem with any of it. But like you, I can't eat a whole egg! Not so big on Protein Shakes - I'd rather get my Protein from chicken etc. so I do eat a lot of chicken. I just made the best 'soup' - potato salad, chicken and chicken stock in the blender! And warmed up. IT was the best. But I'm not eating much in the way of veggies - I was never that good at eating veg and now there's no room for them. . I dunno - I'm just going with what works until I get over this early stage. It's exciting tho' - I cant believe I don't miss food or wine - I just love eating what I do get to eat. Food seems precious.
