I wish I had known the recovery would be harder than I thought. I had the misconception that a laparoscopic surgery would be easy and I'd be back to my normal self within a few days. Had my gall bladder out 12 years ago and I recovered quickly so didn't think this would be much different. Little did I know!! 3 weeks post op and I'm still not my self, still experiencing pain, and still exhausted like whoa!

This makes me more nervous. I hadmy galbladder removed last year and it was hell....so if wls is worse that sucks. :/

I have PCOS as well with thyroid issues and I'm a slow loser. Honestly hun, I would never do this to my body to lose 30 pounds even if it saved me from being diabetic. You should try a low carb diet (the same as what you would be on after a sleeve). Also I had a Mirena put in and my irregular bleeding, acne, and little bit of facial hair (nothing compared to others but still) went away. I have been diagnosed since 17 and I'm 38 now. I needed fertility treatments to get pregnant but they were successful. Also, there is no guarantee you will not end up with diabetes even if you get to your ideal weight if it runs that strongly in your family. Please just seriously consider what you are risking for 30 pounds. Good luck on the diet and try the Mirena to help with symptoms.

I have pcos and hypothyroidism too. What fertility treatments did you need if you dont mind me asking?

I did the ER and had no issues!! See if you could do that!

I already switched to the ER and had the same issues. Last week I took a smaller dose with fewer issues hopefully I can work up to the full dose....Anyone get off metformin after the surgery? Im hoping I wont have to take it anymore. Anyone taking anything else for pcos? Ive just recently started ceylon cinnamon, myoinositol and dchyroinositol...Haven't really noticed any changes but it hasnt been that long.

  4. Yeah I think it varies from hospital to hospital. Pretty much evey hospital has will give you dental hygiene products, but I've stayed at a hospital that did not have chapstick. Also don't forget contact fluid/contact case or glasses if you wear them. Some hospitals have warm blankets and some do not, keeping warm is imperative in my opinion. However, it's only one night in most cases with the gastric sleeve I guess.

  5. When I had my gallbladder surgery I had a massive pain in my back from the gas. I asked for a hot water bottle or heating pad from the hospital but they didn't have one. Luckily my husband was able to run home and get it for me, it really helped. I might also suggest a sleeping mask and some ear plugs. It's really hard for me to sleep in the hospital because there are so many lights and noises. Chapstick is also a must in my opinion.

  6. For reference, when I had galbladder surgery, I couldn't return to work for 3 weeks. It's an Ed Sheeran concert, I have an assigned seat. I recently had to be hospitalized (just overnight) for dehydration and exhaustion. I had very few calories and didn't drink any Water even though temps were in the 100's. Ive learned my lesson, I'm all about that water now!

  7. I can't have my surgery in June because I still have to do a supervised diet weigh in that month and then Im predicting with waiting for the approval and final testing my surgery will be last weeks of July. Also, I work in education and the session doesn't end until July 21st (hopefully taking that day off for surgery). The other option is schedule the surgery after the concert.

I will reiterate that two slices of pizza does not result in 5 pounds of fat gain. To gain 5 pounds of body fat, one would need to consume and store 17,500 calories as adipose tissue. Two fully loaded slices of pizza on a hand-tossed or deep dish crust contains 800 to 1,000 calories at the most, depending on the toppings.

Your 5-pound pre-op weight gain was almost assuredly all Water weight due to the high carbohydrate content of the pizza. And yes, it takes a while for some people to lose the bloat and Water weight gain, especially if they do not engage in vigorous physical activity to use up those water-heavy glycogen stores.

No, I understand. That's why it's so frustrating. But think about this, so far I've been losing 1-2 pounds a week (pre-op). During the 10 days I only lost those 5 pounds...And I did work out vigorously, getting 20,000 steps on some days....so it's pretty much the same as gaining 5 pounds.

  9. Wow, I did the exact same thing today. Started with a Protein shake..and then had chips, hot cheetos, ice cream and coke....I think I went wrong waiting too long to eat lunch and then not drinking any Water at all today even though it was about 100 degrees today. I was doing so good! Lost 23 pounds on the supervised diet so far. Now I probably have to weigh at my physical therapy clearance appointment next week...Hope I can undo the damage by then.

  10. Having had galbladder surgery and other health problems that Ive been hospitalized for,Im scared of the pain because Ive had some complications before. I wake up in the middle of the night scared about it, and I havent even been approved or have a date yet.. However, I just figure I will do what I usually do and leap before I look.
