  1. Sounds like part of what you're going through was the same thing that happened to me and probably most of us. I have a 14cc band and have no idea how much he put in at surgery time or the first fill. The second fill I got 1.5ccs and it could have been more cause it didn't feel that tight. After my first fill it seemed to last about a week and then it felt like it got very loose and I could swallow anything. I asked my surgeon if it was because you lose fat off of your stomach so it gets loose - answer was yep, that's exactly what happens. So some of that 45 pounds you lost was from your stomach itself and the band is just loose like a belt would be when you lose weight. Sounds like your doctor is very conservative. I'm sorry. Mine is kind of medium and I wish he was more aggressive. Oh well, I deal with what I have. Hope you can get yours to fill you faster and a bit larger fill.

    I'm so depressed!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay Lil!!!! That's awesome news, 1 more pill gone forever! You're doing great. Now just chant to yourself "It's just water. It's just water." And know it's true. Plus you're doing the right thing to get it to release by drinking more so you're on your way to never having those pounds again. Yippee!!!!!

    Port FLIPPED :(

So glad to hear things are looking up for you and sounds like the revision wasn't too bad. Not sure how I missed this post the first time but it's good to know you're doing well.
  5. Thank you all. I really needed to see something like this this morning. It's been a struggle recently and I'm hungry all the time. My friend at work who's studying to be a nutritionist says it's cause my metabolism has changed. Yippee? Anyway, this was what I needed to hear to face the day with a "Can Do" attitude. Queen - you're the best. You're always there with encouragement and optimism for everyone. Thank you.

    Feb Social Group

Yep, sounds like time for a good fill to me. I had a similar problem the week before my last fill, which was my second one. I would just eat and eat, like I was frantically trying to satisfy a craving my body was having. I was still eating much less than before but enough to make me stuffed. Once I got my fill it went completely away - well, for a week. Even though he gave me 1.5cc it didn't feel all that tight in the office. Right now I can swallow things that are much larger than I wish. Next fill is on 6-10. Wish it woud hurry. Definately talk to your doctor. It really sounds like you need a fill bad.

    Total damage from vacation

Karen - you're such an inspiration to me. You're very dedicated and it helps me to see someone on the right track. I know you'll take those off in no time and it was great you let yourself live and have a great time.

    Plans after goal?

Wow. You just gave me something to think hard about. I don't have anything and I think the reason I haven't thought of anything is that I really never thought about me reaching my goal. Does that say something? Gonna spend hours unraveling the tangles of my mind. Hopefully I can think of something tremendous as a reward. And, like Jack, I'm waiting on that lottery ticket.

    Trying to figure this out

Sounds like a really good, healthy day's worth of food. As long as the portions aren't big, I think it sounds great. By the way, I think I need to find a new way to handle my plateau's. I did good upping my calories for a couple days. I dropped two but then I couldn't bring my calories back down. I thought I had it yesterday but by dinner I whacked out and ate junk. Today is a new day and I'm determined to do it right. So for me the shock worked on the plateau but I'm too weak spirited to stop and bring it back down for now. So I think I'm back to just watching and waiting. If I can keep myself off the scale it would help too.

    Bad food weekend

Sounds like we had the same weekend. I thought I had myself back on track yesterday but the sabotage crept in at dinner time. I'll be thinking of you all day and using your for inspiration. Everytime I want to eat something bad I'll just say "Officeslave is back on track, you can be too.". Happy, healthy Tuesday!
  13. ...how much I love you guys? You're just the best thing for me and all my moods. This group is so great cause it allows people to feel what they are feeling, vent when they need to and inspires all the time. Add to that all the information and shared stories and you have a winner. Nothing better in the world to me. Thank you all!
  14. Well, first good step was coming here. Once you say it out loud or on a screen it takes the shame away so you can get back on track. And realize that's all it takes is the decision to stay on track. Now, we have to make that decision several times a day and can do it even after we have a set back. Just choose to make the next 10 minutes healthy, then make another choice. Now I realize it's not an easy choice to make all the time but I find it much easier if I look at it as a small choice. I've also found it helpful to go back to basics. If I'm having a hard time staying away from bad foods I go on mushies for a day or two. Kinda snaps me back in shape. It's much easier to do this one right after a fill since I'm scared. LOL Another thing that might help is surrounding yourself with health. I surf the web for health, diet or fitness stuff; listen to podcasts about bariatric surgery or health; watch shows about it when I find them on; read magazines on healthy eating, health, yoga or even dream stuff about what I want to do when I get thinner. Though some people do better with distractions. Hope that helps some. Cheering you on from here.

    A bit of an update

Another great blog! Almost got a bit teary there when you reminded me of all the great NSVs I have coming up and already have some of them. I can actually cross my legs again. It's not comfy I find myself doing it. Can't wait until it feels boring and routine for me too. I just might get good restriction from the next fill. At least I have a small amount now. Can't wait to hear what your hubby has to say. Pop in every once in a while and say hello. We miss ya.

    any other az bandster's?

Welcome Redmtnwolf! I had my surgery done at Banner Gateway too. Great group of doctors and nurses. I had Dr. Schuster and love him. I'm sure you'll be very happy with the whole thing.
  17. Since my surgery I've been listening to this podcast called Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy and I've found some really fun sites I thought I'd share with you guys. Some of them might be "Duh!s" to you guys but they were new to me. National Body Challenge : Discovery Health - 8 week fitness challenge from Discovery Channel that will set up a plan for you including diet and excercises. They include recipes though most of it won't work for bariatric though you could shrink the portions and it definately isn't low carb. The part I love is the workouts. They have videos for each workout and it tells you how many calories you burn if you put in your weight on your profile. www.thedailyplate.com - food and excercise tracker with a huge food database plus it allows you to enter new foods and you can use partial or multiple portions easily. Healthy Recipes, Healthy Eating, Healthy Cooking - Eating Well - Great magazine and website for eating healthy. Kaboodle - have fun shopping with friends, share and discover new products. - Fun shopping site since we will be or are shopping for fitness stuff and new clothes. Yippee! Welcome to The Portion Teller - Lisa R. Young, Ph.D., R.D. - Website for a book that is basically what lapband surgery is all about. Haven't read it yet but I really want to. About the book - Locker Room Diaries - Another book, this one about body image. Half of Me - Weight Loss blog. Good stuff there. Hungry Girl - Fun site. Their tagline is Tips and Tricks for Hungry Chicks. 14 Habits That Make You Fat - 14 Habits that make you fat. Interesting read. all: Popular | PeopleJam - A blog directory basically. Lots of nutrition and fitness stuff. The Fitness Challenge - The Game Designed for the Wannabe Exerciser - Interesting concept, weight loss wagers. Mainly for accountability. Welcome to DietTV.com - Another Health tracker plan. Has trackers for meals, exercise, Water, even sleep. Plus it can help you find a diet based on your needs. Haven't tried this yet but looks interesting. Try before you buy - Articles & Exercises - Typical fitness book website but she has several free workout videos that are quick to do and really work the muscles. All Things Food and Diet - fatsecret - Diet community. They review all kinds of diets. Weigh 2 Win - Audio & Video - Workout video designed for bariatric surgery patients. I really want this one. Wow! Hope you guys find something interesting in there.

    Victorious Valentine Exercise Challenge?

LMAO - I love that sign. You made me laugh so loud I thought I was gonna wake up my hubby and son. Don't think they would have found it as funny as I did - hehe.

    Have I told you lately...

Bet all that walking was good for ya. It sounds like a blast. I love cajun food and music. <Zydeco girl here< And you're so right, 1/4 pound of crawfish is nothing - it's under 100 calories and about 15g of Protein. I'd be eating all those I could before I got too full. Our weather here in Arizona has been freaky lately - last Tuesday we were at 107 and by Thursday it had dropped to mid 70s for the highs. It stayed nice all weekend but I think it's starting to creep back up again. It's supposed to be 92 tomorrow and 99 by Wednesday. Ick, heat! Sometimes I don't know why I still live here. But family, friends, jobs, no real motivation to move except the heat.

    Victorious Valentine Exercise Challenge?

I'm in this time too. Going for 2 hours. You're an inspiration to me Ready. And thank you, I needed an added reason to stay on track this week. Fill isn't until 6-10 and I feel the need.
  21. Arrrrggg! I hate when I type out a long post and hit some button and lose it all. So, here I go again with this. I'm had a bad weekend myself. I bumped up my calories for a couple days to break my plateau. It worked but now I'm having a little trouble getting back one track. It's getting there but still a few bumps. I use www.thedailyplate.com to track my stuff. It has a huge database and lets you enter partial portions. Like if I have half a pear I can put .5 in the serving and it will calculate the calories, protein, carbs, etc. It also tracks your excercise and the calories you burned. And you does things for excercise, daily calories and charting weight lose when you enter your weight and activity level. Great site and free.

Happy Birthday! Why do I feel like Frosty everytime I say that? Anyway, have a fantastic time. Enjoy the shopping and the new puppy! I have two and a cat, they definately can keep you busy. Guess Squishy isn't a very good name for a dog. Still... just keep swimming.

    Dh got his Surgery Date!!!

I found a great way to get even with SOs that don't need to lose weight or even just ones you want to torture like I do mine. My hubby needs to lose some weight now since his brain tumor. They had him on steroids for so long and he gained about 20 pounds. Due to that and the cancer we're been trying to feed the whole family healthier. So, I found him a truly healthy wonderful drink called Kombucha. It tastes like vinegary, spoiled algae tea - LMAO. Now, whenever he acts up, I just tell him I'm gonna get him some more Kombucha and he shapes right up.:crying:
