  1. My discharge paperwork states I can have a protein shake only if I am getting in 50 ounces of clear liquid in also. I am shooting for 50 today (5 days post op) so I can have a banana protein shake.

Thank you for replying. I was starting to stress out. The scale goes up when I haven't eaten anything since Sunday at 5:30pm. Lol

    Any May Sleevers?

Day 3 post op. Feeling pretty good. Had gas in my chest but now it's in my abdomen. Slightly uncomfortable but I will be okay.

    Any May Sleevers?

I am hoping tomorrow will be better than today. It's been a pretty good day today. I don't have any hunger. My tummy grumbles a little and my senses have changed. I am so not digging the smell of any food lol.
  5. My surgery is scheduled for May 8th. I am interested in knowing what items will be essential to take to the hospital and what I will need when I am discharged home. Is there a list of "I wish I would have known to have this"? There are so many things on the web, but it would be nice to get first hand knowledge from patients who have been through the surgery. TIA, Angie

    Any May Sleevers?

Today is better than yesterday. I have been able to get more liquid in and most of the gas in my chest is gone. I am slowly getting there. My husband has been amazing and so supportive since the surgery. Such a blessing. The pain meds are keeping everything tolerable.

    Any May Sleevers?

My first night (last night) was very rough. Have gas surrounding my ribs and clavicle and my esophagus was swollen. I woke up okay but the nausea kicked in and I struggled most of the night. Then on top of it I take 6 pills in the am and 8 in the pm and they taste horrible crushed!! 😜😣. I know this is so worth it...just rough right now.

    Any May Sleevers?

Hey all! Just took my first shower with the Hibiclens. It's so real now. Getting up at 4am to be to the hospital by 5am. Surgery 8:15 am. So happy to know so many are going through what I will be going through. It's reassuring and encouraging. Sending love to all ~Angie

    Any May Sleevers?

Things are well. My blood sugars have been in the normal range for the past 3 days. That is super exciting for me.

    Any May Sleevers?

My surgery is tomorrow the 8th!! Super excited about the new life change. Excited for you and everyone else having the surgery
  11. I'm just wondering if anyone had any problems keeping their BS below 200 prior to surgery. I had my pre-op phone call with the anesthesiologists office yesterday and the lady told me my sugar MUST be below 200. It's a crap shot honestly with my blood sugar in the morning. I can not eat anything the night before and my sugar will be 250 or even higher then on other days will be like 120-140. I'm stressing a little about this.
  12. I have diabetes type 2 and am wondering what the progress is with your diabetes post surgery. Controlled? Off meds? Any advice?

      OutsideMatchInside

Completely off meds in like 3 months. Prior to surgery my diabetes was controlled with pills and diet. I'm almost 2 years post-op and my A1c is on the low end of normal

    Any May Sleevers?

Hey all!! I am at my final pre-op appt before surgery. Everything is set to go!! Getting excited only 5 days to go [emoji4] [emoji1591]Angie
  14. Question [emoji4] I bought some SF popsicles today and got to thinking..have you been able to have them during the liquid only phase? Stage 2 & 3 have you had SF jello, SF pudding, unsweetened applesauce? If so, good experiences? bad experiences? I am 9 days out from surgery and have all of these thoughts going through my brain before the surgery. [emoji1591]Angie
  15. You are all geniuses!! ck2kramer:only 24 carbs because of diabetes? i am going to play around this week and make some of my own. See what I can come up with. Thank you all!!
  16. That's amazing!! I'm so happy for you. I am looking forward to a break with food... I'm sure I won't feel that way after a week or so after the surgery but I know in my heart it's just time to make changes.
  17. Totally spaced on all the paper work lol. I'm so flipping excited and anxious that I am forgetting some things. I did start a bullet journal to keep track of my journey. I have a page for weight loss and for water intake, exercise and exercise goals. I plan on adding more to it. Been pinning like crazy on Pinterest. Thank you for replying.

    Question

I haven't had surgery yet but wanted to share...sometimes I get this weird gurgle in my esophagus when I open my mouth. Tried to tell my husband I loved him the other day and it was so loud and crazy...I giggled, he rolled his eyes. [emoji13] hope you are having a good weekend [emoji1591]Angie
  19. I plan on focusing solely on myself, my health and my new life.... I too will answer if I am asked. I have no problem sharing anything. That's all everyone seems to do nowadays with social media (totally guilty myself ). The surgery and new life is something I am keeping to myself and those whom I trust and my new friends on this website. For me, the only way to have this be positive is to keep all of the negative out of it...unfortunately that means a lot of family and friends won't be privy to this life change until after it's all said and done. I hope you all have a great weekend.
  20. Mine is in 11 days!! How are you feeling? [emoji1591]Angie
  21. The only people who know about my surgery are my husband a few coworkers I know I can trust and and aunt and cousin. The decision to have the gastric sleeve surgery has been hard long process. the pros & cons of surgery. The after effects and results... The decision to take my life back and get healthy and hopefully live past 60... getting off of medications and feeling good overall. There is a stigma placed on people who choose to make this life change. Now mind you I could really care less about what anyone thinks of me and my life. I live it for my husband and myself and that's all that matters. My reason for not sharing... constant questions, comments, assumptions and what not. It's no ones business what I do. Then there is my mother...anytime anything happens to me she pulls out her "victim" card and overshares with anyone who will listen and console her and offer sympathy etc. She is a good person don't get me wrong but I don't play her games anymore. Can't do it if I want to be healthy mentally. I figure after surgery if anyone asks about my weight loss I might share or might not. Depends on the person and the way it is brought to my attention.
