  1. Hello, I’m 38 and had RNY April 2017 I’m down 150lbs or so. I eat right, I have a bad day here and there. I work out 5 days a week.
It’s different and hard not to think of my self as the fat girl any more. And society is even worse, people are nicer to me talk to me out of the blue. As if I was to gross before. I’m still me the same personality.
I’m glad I had this surgery besides the 3 endoscopy and balloon dilations I had. I’m so much healthier and can keep up with my 4 year old so much better.
Obesity is in my family and my sister and mom are bigger. And I find that they volunteer me to do a lot more because “ I’m the skinny one”. As if I’m not busy enough being a single mom. But I remember how much it hurt to have that much weight on me. That’s a bit about me.

  2. I'm looking forward to my op but I am a bit nervous for down the line. One thing I'm nervous about is, when I lose weight, will I struggle with a disassociation with my body? I've struggled with depression and all sorts over the years. I deal with it and talk about it but it's made me be very aware of myself. I'm curious if you still feel like you. I want to lose weight but not the person I am, if that makes sense. Anyone make sense of my bumbling?

I think they are mostly positive changes, but just find people to talk to, I struggle a little as I become more slim, I was so heavy my whole life it’s hard to see the person in the mirror. I’m only 9 months post op.

  3. I’m so sorry your going through this! I had gastric bypass my self and a month after surgery is when a structure happened! I had 4 dilation total. I remember feeling exhausted, so weak, just because you only able to drink, I couldn’t even keep Protein Shakes down. 4 months after surgery is when I finally felt better. I had major regrets! But I’m at the 9 month mark and I have no regrets. It was a tough time but this experience is still worth it. Try to stay strong and just keep as much liquid down. I drank Gatorade (g2) or power aid zero to help with the weak feeling. If you can mix Protein shakes with Water just to get some protein in you. Good luck. I hope in a few months you will look back on this time as a growing pain. That’s how I looked at it.

  4. I am currently 3 months post op and living with a stricture. Right now I have been on liquids for the past week because my stricture seems to have swollen up almost over night. It’s too early for another dilation. My last dilation was on the 5th. I’m so exhausted all the time and even having trouble with liquids backing up into my esophagus. I have so much regret since I had this surgery done. I feel like it’s the worst thing I’ve ever done. I really could use some advice from anyone who’s gone through this.

  5. I don’t post on here much I mainly read and get advice, but I wanted to post about my progress I had gastric bypass in April 2017 a few complications with balloon dilation, 3 of them! But I’m so glad I had this surgery, it’s changed my life for the better. I can keep up with my 3 year old son better, work is so much easier, and life in general is better. I feel like I’m a happier person. Sometimes I still struggle with my brain, I think it still is sees the fat persons I once was, but I look at old pictures to remind myself no look you’ve come so far!!! My family is supportive as much as they can be but they all struggle with weight and eating with them is difficult. I usually have to bring something different.

I find it’s still hard to get the 80 grams of Protein my dr wants me to get but I try every day! I’ve mastered Water and vitamins!

  6. I usually drink 3 Premier Protein clear a day that's 60g there and snack on low fat cottage cheese as a mid morning snack that's 12g. I keep a rotisserie chicken in the fridge and slice three ounces off at a time with steamed veggies for dinner. That gets me close to 80g a day. I'm 4 months out. I also became tired of Protein Shakes. I mix it up some times and snack on a hard boiled egg.

  7. I got a Roux and Y on April 12th and was discharged the 13th. That day at the hospital I was doing laps around others in the hall. I know some motivation was to get the gas out and to be released from the hospital. I'm off all pain meds, went to church today and the park with the family. I've walked 3 miles today. I've been persistent about getting my Water and Protein in since my doc has me on this diet until 2 weeks from the surgery. My wife has kind of freaked out thinking I'm doing so well trying to make me go to bed or lay down but I wanna get out and get moving so I can get this weight off. I've lost 14 lbs since the day of surgery and that has given me some super motivation to keep on pushing. Is this normal for recovery? Do most people snap back this quick? I've read some people taking off around 2 weeks. I'm excited about going to work tomorrow for half a day. Is this normal?

Hello, I had the same surgery on the same day! And I was also doing laps in the hospital that day, have been off pain meds and been going since I've been home, I'm down 12lbs, not sure if it's normal was wondering that myself but glad I'm not alone.
