It's been a while on a status for me, but I would like to know if anyone has experienced this about 5 months post op sleeve...it started yesterday. I eat a bite of something and instantly I feel it hit my stomach. I've only had a few bites of food today for the sake of my stomach, so I'm very tired (but I've been taking my vitamins) and my motor skills are lacking. I've dropped many things today. I feel like I'll just drop myself as well, but I still managed to clean, do laundry, and wash/clean my car. Usually I'm pretty upbeat and have tons of energy, but this is new. I'm about to go lay down for a nap just to see if I can revive myself somehow.

It didn't happen at 5 months out for me...rather, it was discovered at my 1-year postop appointment. My blood work revealed I developed a thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency, and this can affect motor skills due to its impact on the neurological system.
Thiamine is also used by the body to metabolize food for energy, so a thiamine deficiency can result in low energy.
I started taking a vitamin B complex pill twice weekly, which solved the problem.

Surgery was yesterday and I was scheduled a gastric bypass , but because of the scar tissue from my C-section 24 years ago . After my Dr.removed as much scar tissue as possible he was unable to perform the bypass. The sleeve was done and I feel 😊 hopefully I hold the water down so I can get to go home😜😂

Recover soon.
I've lost 100+ pounds with my sleeve, reached my goal weight, and have been maintaining the weight loss for the past year. The sleeve is a great tool to get you where you need to be, and to help you stay where you need to be.

I will be so happy when fall weather gets here. This humidity makes my morning runs harder. I am back up to running 3.0 miles and I ran a 5k yesterday 3.2 miles.
I feel lighter since giving up meat 2 weeks ago. It is like a heaviness has been lifted from my body. It is hard to describe and I am sure I didn't notice this when I was eating low carb. My energy levels are through the roof. I get up at 4:30 out the door by 5:20 run 2-3 miles and drink my shake before getting ready to leave for work at 7:20. I used to set my alarm and would hit snooze a couple times before getting up, but now it seems like my internal clock wakes me up exactly at 4:25 every morning. I honestly didn't think I could feel any better then I did a month ago, but I do. It is almost as if I can feel the wonderful nutrition from my food flowing through my veins. Corny, I know, but it is true!
I am down another pound this week and only 11 pounds till I reach my goal. All of the clothes in my closet that I saved over the years now fit me or are too large. This blows my mind. I have a closet full to choose from and a bunch that need to be bagged up and donated. I am glad I decided to save my clothes.

Can anything happen when your on your post op diet after the sleeve surgery and you eat cream soup ? Can it stretch out your sleeve ? Besides it beings uncomfortable I'm a little concerned.
-
I know that we are suppose to eat plain yogurt. How do you eat it? It's gross by itself. How do you make it more palatable?
-
Does anyone purposely go to bed hungry or do you eat if you're hungry right at bedtime? I've always ignored the hunger and went to bed. It's not acid reflux (haven't had any, praise God!), but real genuine hunger. I could eat anything right now. In the past (healthy days), I learned to just go to bed, something to do with making the metabolism work/calories burn, etc. don't remember exact science. Also in the past (non healthy days) I thought I'd be hungry and would end up eating a snack before bed. But that was refux. So even though I'm genuinely hungry now. I wouldn't even want to start up that terrible old habit I had. I think I posted my status out of even thinking of getting something to eat, even if it's healthy.
-
I almost always eat a bedtime snack. It's usually something with a decent protein content such as string cheese with turkey sausage, nuts, rolled-up ham slices, etc.
Then again, I'm a breakfast skipper on purpose. My first meal of the day usually happens after 12:00pm because I'm simply not hungry in the morning.

Does the noise in your stomach after you eat ever goes away? Always everytime I eat certain foods it taste like I swallowed a nasty pill, does that ever goes away?
-
I'm 2+ years out and my stomach still makes audible sounds after I've eaten particular foods that people within a few feet of me can hear.

If you guys haven't tried making a crustless shepherds pie with mashed cauliflower instead of potato, I highly recommend it! I used 2 cups of mashed cauliflower, a cup of fat free mozzarella cheese, a pound of ground beef, an egg, some Worcestershire sauce, some spices, and a cup of peas and carrots and got 8 servings with less than 200 calories each. Tasty, filling, and guilt free!

So I've been trying to wake up early and get my workouts in, only did it twice. I can't seem to shake off my tiredness in the mornings! I know if I kept it up, I'd make it into a habit and it'll get easier, but I don't know if I want to do that. When I workout in the evenings, take my shower, I'm so ready to lay down and sleep. I think I'll stick to my evenings.
Now, if I decided to stop working, then I'll do mornings...around 9 or 10. LOL

I am so definitely not a morning person. Now that I work from home, I exercise in the late morning/early afternoon (sometime between 10am and 3pm).
When I worked overnight shifts, my shift would end at 6:30am and I'd be at the gym at 7:00am to workout. On my days off I'd exercise at night, sometime between 8pm and midnight.

Can someone tell me how many pounds should you lose a month are a week with the sleeve
-
The weekly/monthly rate of weight loss with a sleeve is tied to factors such as genetics, age, gender, ethnicity, certain pre-existing diseases, and starting weight on surgery day.
Certain groups of people normally lose weight very fast such as males, females under 35 years old, the super-obese with BMIs greater than 50, and "healthy fat people" without any metabolic diseases.
Other groups often lose more slowly such as older folks, menopausal women, racial/ethnic minorities, 'lightweights' who were in the high 100s/low 200s weight range on surgery day, and people with metabolic illnesses such as diabetes, PCOS, and hypothyroidism.
I was a slower loser. I lost an average of 5 to 6 pounds monthly. It took me 17 months to lose 100 pounds. My starting weight was 218 with a height of 5'1.

6/26 - I had a bad day. My bf and I broke up. He stated that he preferred me bigger and that had he known things would change that he would have never supported the decision. When I asked how things changed, he stated the following:
1) You put on makeup more
2) You get your nails done more
3) You do your hair more
4) You dress differently. You do not cover up as much
5) Guys look at you more (Ding! Ding! Ding!)
6) They hit on you more (Jackpot!!)
I was stunned as he continued on his rant. At that point he told me he needed space and that he felt he needed time to get used to the new situation.
Before this journey I would ate my feelings away. I would have cried, watch romantic movies, Jack and Rose would have been my idols, my heart would have not gone on and I would have gained 5 lbs in one day. However, I felt no desire to stuff my face. Actually I felt nothing. After thinking about what he said and talking to my mom, I decided to end the relationship. I do not want that toxic attitude in my positive environment. I made a hard choice, however I am sure I made the right choice.
6/27 - Still followed my Keto diet. I did have a sugar free Popsicle. Went to the gym. Noticed something disturbing, my boobies are starting to have loose skin . I knew it would happened but I was hoping it would not. I boobs do not fit in my bra's anymore. They are sliding under the wire like peek-a-boo. SMH.

I'm sorry about the break-up. However, your ex-boyfriend appears to have become more insecure and unconfident as you became more secure and confident.

were you able to drive home after the endoscopy
-
I was able to drive home after the endoscopy and the sleeve.
Here's the issue: they'll administer general anesthesia prior to the endoscopy, so they won't release you unless you have someone waiting to give you a ride.
The staff watched as I got into my friend's car. Once staff were out of sight, I thanked my friend, got into my own car, and drove home.

Watching 600 lb Life, Where are they now? And Dr Now just advised to revise to RNY because her WLS stopped, and he said that she stretched her stomach out. So I can see where the misinformation comes from. When the RNY people stop losing at this point, he tells them to stop eating trash. Then after he is done slicing and dicing her for the 2nd time, he says, if her weight loss slows again, we will know it is her diet. Well, no $%#@
-
Yes, Dr. Nowrazadan operates on these people free of charge. He benefits from the fame and free publicity that the show bestows upon him. Also, the TLC channel profits heavily with all of the viewership and advertisements. So these people display themselves in humiliating positions in exchange for the show's producers financing their year in the sun.

Before my gastric sleeve, I had only a gas pedal. After surgery, I have a gas pedal and a brake.
-
I really, really like the gas pedal & brake analogy. I think I will use that analogy in future discussions!

I don't know if this is ...hate to say "normal" but I just don't have an appetite at all. Hard to eat and force myself just cause I know I have to. Just for reference sake...down 48 lbs since surgery May 1st. (4 wks).
