  1. That moment after surgery when you feel like you're finally done and accomplished your goal, only to realize 5 seconds later that you still have to lose the weight now. I had the gastric sleeve.

Just had surgery on June 21st, feeling great, hardly any pain at all, didn't need any pain meds at all Friday night and really feeling great on Saturday. Having problems learning to sip drinks but I'm getting there.

  2. Hiii everyone. My surgery is scheduled for July 19th. I have time for this but I am totally a planner and need to start planning things. Does anyone have any tips or tricks they can share? I need to start making a grocery list for my pre and post op diet so if you have low sugar baby food suggestions or just any type of suggestion in general i would greatly appreciate it. I am starting to get nervous about it and need to focus on getting things prepared lol. Help mee

I used premiere Protein Shakes before surgery and Atkins shakes for my prop diet, I would put nutmeg and cinnamon in the vanilla shake with a little splenda, tastes just like eggnog. I got some baby foods like sweet potatoes, a little peaches but most of all we just need to use these until we can eat regular foods and then we just need to always remember Protein. You can purchase "six star protein powder unflavored you can put into yogurt, drinks they sell it at Wal- mart. Its also good in SF, FF, pudding.< br>

  3. Haha. I find it hilarious that these comments are made. I know that I pee and bleed from different places. I'm 28 years old. Haha. If I am wearing a pad and underwear, how would they place a catheter during the surgery?! That is what I'm asking. So I am wondering what people had to do, did they wear tampons? Were they wearing pads? What happened?! Did they even get a cath? My surgeon does straight caths during surgery. In and out. I wasn't asking for an anatomy lesson.

That's funny a free lesson on anatomy js

  4. I was never a big Water drinker, but since my surgery (2 days ago) I can't even tbink about drinking it. Crystal light is a little better. I think I'm going to talk to the visiting nurse about Powerade 0 tom. I am not drinking much at all. broth, popsicles, yogurt, pudding all go in fine, but liquids...no way! I also read that ppl use gas x strips, I can't find them ANYWHERE, are the desolving ones ok?

  5. I hope you're feeling at least a little better now.
My hubs had a similar experience with the nausea after surgery. And his first night home he wondered if he'd made the best decision. By his second night home, he was feeling much better.
Two months out, his only regret is not doing it sooner.
Sending you prayers and wishes for comfort and fast healing!

That's good to know TFS, I'm being sleeved on the 21st, getting excited, not second guessing myself at all!

  6. I was 451 pounds before I had my surgery in September. Got on the scale today and saw the number 299! I know this is not a big deal for some people, 299 is higher than a lot of your starting weights before surgery, but this is a MASSIVE ACHIEVEMENT for me. I haven't seen a number lower than 300 on the scale since I was sixteen years old. So, yeah, I still have a ways to go, but I am so happy with this decision. I look better, I feel incredible, and I will never go back to being the self destructive girl slowly killing herself with food that I was a year ago.
    Starting weight: 451 lbs
    Current weight: 299 lbs
    Starting BMI: 68
    Current BMI: 45
    Starting shirt size: XXXXXL
    Current shirt size: XL
    Starting jean size: 34
    Current jean size: 20

  7. So I have decided to have sleeve surgery after being overweight for nearly all my life. What finally helped me quit waffling on the idea of surgery has been the combination of our grandson bringing so much love to our lives, wanting to be actively engaged in life again without physical pain, and seeing my amazing husband's success so far with sleeve surgery.
I managed to lose 35 pounds as he worked toward his surgery date in April, supporting healthier choices and making changes in our lifestyle. I haven't lost one single pound since. Even doing the shakes twice a day along with him didn't help. He has been encouraging me along the way and wanted us to have surgery together but I wanted to wait and see how it goes. But it's time to make this happen. For me. For us. For our family.
Any and all advice is appreciated and welcomed!

Well you already have a good mind set, just make sure you get all your tests done and all nutrition classes done and make the decision to stick to the program. No one is perfect so there will be mistakes just learn from them and move on.
