    I love my band

Wow!!! Way to go!! I haven't lost more than a pound in just over a month! Hopefully with this fill that I got on Thursday - the scale will start moving again! What are you eating? Some tips would be appreciated!!

What is the max of CCs your doctor gives?

My surgeon is awesome! Went in for my first fill today...She pretty much had the needle in with the syringe dangling... After she would push the saline in, I would drink the barium to see if I was restricted. After seeing the barium slip right through the first couple of times without a problem, she asked me how it was drinking water... and after the 4 "push" of saline - we watched on the fluoroscopy as the barium just kind of hung out in my pouch and slowly went through. So pretty much she didn't have a target of what to put in! It was a matter of seeing how fast the barium went throught and how I felt! YAY! I am restricted. I'm just hoping and praying that this is my "sweet spot".

    I Had A Cupcake :-(

Damm workplace sweets!!!! In my office, there are bagels and donuts in the morning, and Cookies in the afternoon. Not to mention the weekly birthday and anniversary celebrations with cake AND ice cream! I feel your pain. I *will* sneak in a bite here and there BUT I feel good knowing that it is MUCH less than I used to have pre-band!
  5. pinkdots410

    Is this restriction??

Whatever you have, I am hella jealous! You got your first fill 2 weeks after surgery?!? I was banded on May 19th and my first fill is tomorrow!!!! It sounds to me like you have restriction. The tightness, from what I have heard, is the food slowly moving through the band, it may have been too big of a bite...but you are restricted for sure. You weren't required to go on liquids after your fill? I wish you look - hopefully this is a sweet spot for you.
  6. Just curious to see how many you guys are consuming for weight loss - I am at 800-1000 and the scale isn't moving! What is a typical menu? I am usually having: B - 1 scrambled egg w/ half slice of LF cheese, 1/2 cup of blueberries and half slice of whole grain "small-loaf" toast. S - 1 cup of 1% milk L - 1 cup tuna salad made w/ LF mayo, celery, onions, salt and pepper and other half of whole grain toast S - Activia yogurt and almonds D - Grilled tilapia and brown rice made w/ chicken broth and steamed green Beans I occasionaly have a treat - only IF I am under my 800 calories for the day! And I am walking 20-30 minutes at least 3 times a day...what are you guys doing? I did not know it would be this hard.

    I feel so pathetic..

Welcome to being banded! I felt the same way. I was on full liquids for 3 weeks and the last week was torture! I was starving and could not have anything...I would think about what I couldn't eat and feel sad. Like I lost a friend. I came on here and read, read, read. People say to walk, or read, or get out of the house - but that doesn't help a food addict. I think of food wherever I am 24/7... (I had a dream about Krispy Kreme donuts last night) hahaha! My advice to you is keep trucking along. And I hate to be the bearer of negativity - but it won't get better until you get restriction. I go in for a fill on Thursday and today, I could eat anything. I am doing the right thing based on my will power and it is HARD. I have realized that with the band, we have to think long term. This isn't a quick fix. We still have to work and watch what we eat...it will take some time to realize, but it's true. Good Luck to you!!

Calling all my May 19th buddies

Ok, who has gotten their first fill? I go in on Thursday for a follow-up and "we'll see about a fill" appointment...I will pretty much beg for a fill! The scale finally moved down 1 pound since my post op appt. on June 4th...so that is pretty much 1 pound lost in a month. :smile2: I feel better, but don't think I look any different, despite being down a size. I am learning to have patience though. The weight didn't come on overnight, and I don't expect to lose it - BUT - 1 pound in a month?? GRRRRRRRR!

    Not Losing Weight

sunshinelady... Omg I could have written your post! I am tracking every bite, getting in about 1000 calories a day and walking 20 minutes a day and no loss! I even gained 3 pounds this week! I just dont understand that if I easily ate 2500 calories before surgery, and cutting back as much as I am, why aren't I losing weight??????? I am very discouraged but will keep on going... I guess it will eventually pay off... At least I hope.

    Am I doomed to fail?

This is a very enlightening post. This is just what I needed to read...I am pre-fill and glad that I am reading this before having the fill. I am comfortable that I will know how to use my "tool" to be successful! Another reason why I love this board!
  11. pinkdots410

    got the blues......

Hang in there...you are NOT alone. I am dealing with the same issue. Haven't lost a pound since my post-op visit on June 4th! And I go back in forth in my head, questioning if I should have gotten the RNY. I considered it in the beginning. BUT I went with the lapband for a reason. I keep going over those reasons in my head and it helps. I *wanted* slow weight loss. I wanted to have more control over what I ate and how much. I wanted to have to work hard to obtain loss and not so much have the "easy way out". I wanted a safe procedure, not having my insides cut and attahced - with the possiblity of leaks. I knew this was going to be tough, but not as hard as it has been. I just go over and over in my mind, why I chose the Lap Band. It helps. And I also remind myself that it has only been just under a month since surgery. 17 pounds down in a month is darn good! And you are down 10! That is HUGE. Just keep trucking along. We will eventually get results. Have a chat with your nutritionist to be sure you are doing the right thing. Keep up with yoru fills and you will have weight loss. The Lap Band works - we just have to have patience. That is what I am struggling with. PATIENCE. It will be worth it in the end. I promise you!
  12. I have noticed since having the band I don't pee as much. Since 7 this morning, I've had about 74 ounces of water. It is now 6:06 pm and I still dont have to pee! Should I be concerned? Thinking of calling my doc...

Calling all my May 19th buddies

Taking it one day at a time. I have been making some not-so-great choices...but not nearly as bad as I used to be. But I am not doing someting right - the scale isn't moving. I am getting in between 800-1000 calories a day (which is the target for lap band weight loss from what I read) and nothing. No loss whatsoever - since my post op appt on June 4th. I am looking forward to my fill on the 3rd. I have absoultely NO restriction and mt appetite is back at full force! It's a little scary - especially when I feel like I should be doing so much better. But then again, it hasn't been a month..I need to be easier on myself.

  17. I wish I could have written this post! How do you guys find the motivation to work out? I avoid physical activity like the plague :behindsofa: I keep saying I need to start doing something, but never really find the time nor the energy to do it! There is always an excuse ... This week of was - " its too hot out" uuugghh!! I am afraid I will never be one too work out! Any suggestions?

Calling all my May 19th buddies

Yeah, I think the honeymoon phase is over. lol! Woke up this morning starving! I no longer "feel" like I am losing. I packed a lunch of soft foods ...grilled tilapia and rice...feel bloated... I just wish I could go back to day 3 post op (but without the pain), have uber restriction and not be hungry AT ALL and to stop thinking about food. I worry thinking if it will ever happen. Feeling FAT today. I know this is a process and I am still elated that I have the band...but food still worries me. I know I am up in pounds since eating mushies and soft foods, but I haven't weighed myself. I will not get on a scale until July 3rd in my surgeon's office. AND I better get a fill - no "we'll see" - I NEED ONE. I know they say now is the time for healing, but I can't help but worry that I am losing control. Does anyone else feel like me?

Calling all my May 19th buddies

Hi ladies! I am eating soft foods right now... But I am terrified of messing up! I am struggling with cravings! The good thing is, I do have a bit of restriction so the soft foods that I do eat ( oatmeal, tuna, eggs, rice, potatoes, etc...) I can only have about half a cup before feeling full. That's when I have to tell myself to stop! Its going to be a learning experience! I am also having a tough time not drinking while eating! I know this is going to be a slow process and I have come a long way in three weeks... Learning to have patience! Can't wait to be filled on July 3rd!
  20. pinkdots410

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Go Jennifer!! Keep up the good work! It feels so good doesn't it! Good Luck with mushies...I am so excited to start them on Monday!
  21. I am starting to feel like a walking medicine cabinet! In addition to my high blood pressure medicine once a day and Centrum chewable vitamins twice a day, I will need to start taking: B12 1000mcg - once daily THEN - in 2 weeks, start B1 100 mg once daily THEN - in 3 weeks, start Ca citrate / Vitamin D 600mg once daily - 2 hours apart from other vitamins THEN - in 4 weeks, start URSO Foret 500 mg once daily (this - she gave me a prescription for and it is OPTIONAL) What are you guys taking?
  22. pinkdots410

    10:30 a.m. and starving H E L P

You can have some oatmeal watered down with milk...I have it for breakfast and it holds me over!
  23. pinkdots410

You know you are a bandster when....

Now this, I am not looking forward to! :cursing:
  24. pinkdots410

    3 days post.I need to eat..Help!

What did your doctor say? 3 weeks of liquids for me! Then mushies, then regular foods in smaller portions, taking smaller bites, chewing really well.
  25. pinkdots410

3rd week post op diet and feeling weak

Let's see...I usually have watered down oatmeal and milk for Breakfast, applesauce or Jello for snack, soup for lunch, yogurt or pudding for snack and soup for dinner. I make sure I get in at least 64 ounces of Water, including my iced tea. Went today for my follow-up appointment and the nutritionist was very disappointed. I am lacking Protein. She gave me a great tip though! 1 ounce of milk has 1 gram of protein! I am supposed to have 53 grams of protein a day...as long as it is 1% milk, I can have as much as I want. :cursing: Can't wait to start mushies - can't wait to have some tuna with LF mayo!
