3 weeks post op I was at around 400-600 calories a day. I upped it to 600-800 calories about 3 months post op. Then 800-1000 6 months post op. Then at 8 1/2 months post op I went to 1000-1200. I'm almost a year out and now eat 1200 calories a day. They said that is what my goal will be for life now.

I would like to also see a reminder for meds/vitamins/supplements and an interaction list/recommendations regarding what not to take together or what times are most beneficial. Several meal plans for each post surgery phase, that uses real food and not just promoting certain brands of supplements/protein products would be helpful to us newbies. I felt overwhelmed just trying to figure out how I was going to get all of my Protein, Water, meds & supplements in a day and timing it so I would allow 60-90 minutes after meals before drinking & still get it all in to meet the daily intake quota.

My hubby surprised me w/ an Instant Pot 1 week after VSG. I just started puréed foods yesterday. I made crack chicken w/ 1/2 cream cheese & 1/2 Greek yogurt. Today I made made a mojo pork loin (mine puréed) and served it w/ mashed cauliflower & canned spinach. It is so nice to put ingredients in and go walk or do Zumba and come home w/ dinner done an hour later. I would also be interested in more Instant Pot recipes. I am hoping to get an IP cookbook for Mother's Day.

I was sleeved 4/17/17 and, after a 10 day stall w/ walking 2-3 miles per day for the last 2 weeks, the scale finally moved today. Do not be disappointed as your body is just trying to catch up w/ the trauma it just endured. It will get better as your body heals, you will see the loss reflected on the scale. Rejoice in the non scale victories. A thinner face, looser pants and being able to resist temptation, as hard as THAT can be sometimes! I think when people ask "how much have you lost so far", I might just reply w/ "enough" as the change I see does not match the # reflected on the scale. Besides, I can't expect to lose 30 years of weight gain in less than one month. I know they are just curious but ask me in a year and I will give them a #. You will get there, just give it some time to work.

I wore a shaper and liked the support gave me, especially getting up & down. I began wearing it about 1 week after I got home.

I got 2 oz & 4 oz containers w/ lids from the dollar store. It is perfect when I make Jell-O or a can of Soup, I can divided into five meals or eight Desserts. It is great for Portion Control and portability.

tuhok1591 reacted to bunnyboop in Dealing with an unsupportive husband...help!
You know, after reading all of these posts, I think that "support," means different things to different people. For instance, I think my husband has been very supportive of my WLS. He was surprised when I first told him I was going to do it (I didn't tell him I had been researching it), but he told me that he was 100% behind me if I decided to go through with it. This said, he did not attend one appointment at the clinic with me (nor did I expect him to), nor did he take any time off from work to stay home to take care of me (nor did I expect him to). My husband is not the nurturing type when it comes to these things and I knew enough to ask my daughter (who is very nurturing), if she could come and take care of me upon my release from the hospital. She brought me my shakes/liquids, etc., knew what time I had to take my meds, etc. My husband knew nothing about what was due when, but when he asked me how I was feeling, it felt great to me. I don't wan to give the impression that my husband is a jerk, because he's certainly not -- in fact, I won the lottery in the husband department. It's just that he's not nurturing when it comes to sickness (his rule when the kids were growing up was if they weren't running at least 100 degree fever, they went to school). So, some of you reading this may think that I have the most unsupportive spouse in the world, while I think he's great. It's all a matter of opinion, which is what makes the world go 'round, really.

I think it is unrealistic to expect. 5 lb weight loss each & every week. If you can consistently lose 2 lbs weekly, that would be 100 lbs in a year!

I don't get these unrealistic expectations! How long did it take to gain 35 lbs? This is not a magic surgery that will dissolve your fat In record time. I guess we all wished there were a pill that would cancel all our calories & bad choices. I am only 3 weeks post op today and just got over a 10 day stall on the scale despite walking 2-3 miles per day. Yes, it is frustrating to not see the scale reflect my hard work but my reflection in the mirror showed that my face had slimmed, I lost a chin, and my pants were getting baggy. Celebrate the non scale victories as the scale does not reflect all of your efforts on a daily basis. I have only lost 15 lbs since surgery. Be patient and make good choices. You will eventually see more results as your body overcomes the trauma it has just endured.

Thanks for all of the great replies! To answer the question, it's a combo mud run/obstacle course race. If I walk around the obstacles I shouldn't get muddy at all. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how I feel. I feel like I have an unrealistic expectation of what recovery is going to entail, in that I'm already making plans to meet friends and take my kids to Drs appointments in the days following the surgery. I might be in for a rude awakening!

At 6 weeks I should be eating mechanical soft food. 60 to 80 grams of protien. Each meal should be about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food. An example would be like an egg and 2 ounces of oatmeal made with skim milk and fortified with Unflavored Protein Powder at 7am
Then a protien shake made with 8 Oz skim milk around 8:30
8 Oz of Water or crystal light at 10am
Noon 2 or 3 Oz of fat free chicken, 2 tbs of green Beans and a piece of toast
Water at 2 and again at 4 pm
5 pm 2-3 Oz of tuna, 2tbs of cooked carrots, 2-4 tbs of mashed sweet potatoes
    7pm crystal light 8oz
    9pm 8oz water

My following comment may be controversial, but I don't particularly care anymore.
I assume you are African-American based on your profile picture. I am also black. In a nutshell, many members of the AA community have skewed body image perceptions with regards to women and think that bigger is more attractive.
My BMI is 22. I am squarely in the middle of the normal BMI range, yet certain people in my circle think I'm "too skinny." Funny enough, all of the people who think I'm skinny are badly overweight and need to address their own weight problems and health issues.
You are 5'4 and 165 pounds. Most Caucasian and Asian women with those stats would be aiming for goal weights in the 120 to 140-pound range, and no one in their respective communities would chastise them for it. However, many folks in the AA community would shout a black female down for even entertaining the idea of getting "that skinny."
Essentially, you do you. If you want to attain a lower body weight, it is possible. If you need to attain a lower body weight due to health issues, you'd better do it.
Forget about the naysayers. This is your journey. They, on the other hand, can end up in a dialysis chair 20 years from now or have a massive stroke because they paid too much attention to keeping their fluffy curves and round booties. It is all about you.
