  1. Yep, 2 per day per my surgeons and dietician. I usually take one in the morning and one in the evening so that they're spread out.

I may try that. I took them pre op and the first week after but the Dr called these in for me and I started taking these since they are a package deal.

  2. I'm 9 days since surgery and have had a rough day today. I've had the why the hell did I do this and beating myself up. Doesn't help that every other stinking commercial on tv is people laughing, eating and enjoying themselves in a restaurant. I keep trying to tell myself as soon as I start feeling normal again and not struggling to get enough Water in and Protein it will be better and I'll be so much happier.

  3. I felt that way too because I couldn't eat with the rest of the family. I sat outside while they cooked and ate or in my bedroom drinking my shake. It still feels that way and I had surgery on the 13th. They don't want to eat around me thinking it makes me uncomfortable or crave it. Honestly since surgery it's the last thing on my mind. I just worry about drinking Water and figuring out how to get enough Protein in. Also I'm planning my abdominal binder burning party. Lol

  4. Shy1, Thank you for you reply! Glad to know I'm not the only one feeling this way. I keep having people say if you have been able to loose weight before surgery then why have surgery. Uggg!

I 2nd guessed myself too like 3 days before. I had someone tell me well you've lost 20lbs doing a liquid diet. Why can't you just keep doing that. People that haven't battled with weight don't get it. I just dismissed what they said, although it was very hard not to reply back with a smart mouth remark. I was a tad moody on the liquid only diet for 2 weeks.
I had surgery Thursday and had a WTH did I do moment the day after and another one yesterday but everyone I know that's had this surgery has said it's rough but you will get through it. It just takes time. I'm doing better today then I was yesterday and yesterday day was better than the 2nd day. Just take it slow. Good luck and speedy recovery.

  5. They give you a tiny cup of horribly bitter tasting liquid that you have to drink up. This is after two or three days of having nothing but ice chips so you are not going to want to have anything to do with it. When you drink it, they make you wait about five minutes (or not, I don't remember) and then they stand you in front of an X-ray like machine and see if that liquid is leaking out of your new stomach. You are going to be nauseated as hell and disgusted with the taste of that thing for the next two hours or so. Drinking that much liquid for the first time after surgery is also going to hurt. (It's equivalent to three sips for a person who has not had the surgery).

Mine was so sweet that I couldn't stand it. It was like drinking a small amount of Water with 10 spoons of sugar in it. It made me throw up as soon as I got back to my to my room.

  6. I meant taking Vitamins whole versus crushing them

I asked about the Vitamins prior to surgery. They said chewable which I got the week before and went ahead and started. Every time I think of a question I write it in my notes on my cell phone so when they call I'll have it. I don't foresee getting a call till tomorrow though. Prior to surgery I'd email and not get a reply for 2 days and then I'd call and leave a VM and then they would reply to my email.

  7. lol! Yeah I haven't been the most pleasant person lately. My poor fiancé. This surgery is crazy physically and mentally. I go through things of regret because it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel while experiencing this pain and wanting to have an English muffin for breakfast [emoji24][emoji23][emoji85]

Yeah my poor hubby. He's had to help me with everything. Although he had his hip replaced 2 years ago so I figured he owed me. [emoji16]

  8. My dr wasn't going to do one but because I was so nauseous she decided to. I went the next morning and had it done. Let me tell you, that was the most unpleasant thing ever. I wound up throwing up a little when I got to my room and then of course had the "what did I do to myself moment". When they did the test they said it all looked good. But after the dry heaving and throwing up it made me a little paranoid.

  9. Hey! We had the same surgery date. I'm also freaking out and trying to figure out if the pain I'm having is normal or not. I believe that the pure Protein Shakes are fine - my doctor said that as long as I can tolerate the thickness without wanting to throw up then it won't be a problem. I also have the slight pain in my chest just from being full, but what's really causing me pain is getting in and out of bed. And also I am struggling so badly to drink enough water!

Ive slept in the recliner. I have a memory foam bed and it's kinda low to the ground so I was even going to attempt it. The Water killing me. I set a timer on my phone to go off every 15 minutes so I'll start drinking an ounce. My family wants to throw my phone out the window. Lol.

  10. I so understand that. I was sleeved Thursday and went home Friday; so much pain. My husband has been a big help in helping me in and out of bed. It has really been a struggle. I can't help but think I'm pulling my stomach muscle at times.

I slept in the recliner last night but even getting up out of it is killing me.

  11. Wayfair memory foam mattress. And my fiancé to help pull me out of bed because the doctor said to refrain from using abdominal muscles (also it hurts like hell to get up out of chairs/beds/couch [emoji24]; kind of having that "wtf did I do" moment)

I've had buyers remorse since the 1st day in the hospital. Only one side is sore, which I don't get but guess I should be a little grateful. I have serious anxiety about ripping staples and having a leak. Now I'm 2nd guessing my Protein Shakes. I have some pure Protein which seem kinda thick and some Premier Protein that aren't as thick but still scared to drink. I'm such a paranoid freak.

  12. I'm struggling to get my fluids in. Also I'm wondering what Protein Shakes everyone drank right after surgery. I have some pure Protein but afraid it's too thick. I'm terrified of causing issues with the staples and then having a leak. I've been up walking around trying to get rid of gas but every so often I feel like I have to burp but it doesn't come out and then I have a little pain in my chest. Does anyone else have this issue. I'm full of all kinds of questions I know.
