  1. I'm not a medical professional or anything like that, but are you sure you should be having beef at all? In the guidebook from the Bariatric Centre of the Rockies, they describe the diet progression as being in the soft food stage at this point (though you might have a different surgeon, so your mileage may vary). And in the section where they talk about Proteins you can and cannot have during the soft food stage, in the column marked "Foods to avoid at soft stage" they wrote "ALL BEEF, PORK, AND VEAL"... and yes, they wrote it in all caps.
Maybe you should phone your surgeon's office and ask about it?

My book from my surgeon says lean soft moist meats. Then it says fish, poultry or pork. I assumed that moist fork cut roast beef would be ok. When I call my surgeon there is a vm and you leave a message and you don't hear back till the next business day.

  2. Errrrrr. How far out are you? I had this and it was gallbladder stones.

I'm 4 weeks today. I don't have a gallbladder. Had it removed in 2010. This doesn't feel like that either. It's sharp pains that come in waves and lasted 5 to 10 minutes. I can't wait to feel normal again and not freak over every twinge I get.

  3. I had to do a 2 week diet and I surprised the [emoji90] out of myself and didn't cheat. Don't get me wrong it was hard especially when my family was in the next room eating pizza. But I used the Premier Protein shakes and the Syntrax Nectar shakes (peach and grape are my faves) and drank lots of broth. I put lemon pepper in the chicken and Italian seasoning in the beef. Had lots of sugar free Jello too. Just stick with it. It will go faster than you think. I cried the day before thinking I couldn't do it and I did. You got this!!! This is just a small snapshot in the larger picture.

  4. So you still have soreness too? That's something I'm glad to know. It sends I'm also gassy a lot too. I take a bite, I'm gassy. I take a drink, I'm gassy. I'm hoping that ends eventually. As long as I know there is light at the end of the tunnel, I'll feel better about this whole process.

I have the gassy part still. My son said I burp more than a baby. Lol

  5. I'm pre-op for the gastric sleeve, but I signed up for a service like this. From your description of the nasal B12 spray, it sounds like it could be the same company. My surgery isn't until the 23rd of this month, but I signed up last month and already have my first shipment on hand. As promised, the cost was $25, and insurance was billed for the rest. I had 4 weekly nasal B12 sprays, chewable Calcium and Vitamin D, multivitamin, and Iron supplements mailed to me. They also have pill versions of the Vitamins that I can switch to once I can take them.
I decided to go this route because after researching the costs for the vitamins online, it was more expensive to get them myself. Hopefully, I'll be able to tolerate the supplements after surgery, othewise, everything seems on the level.
ETA: I took another look at your post and it is the same company - Nutrition Direct.

I think this is who mines through too. BariActiv the brand??

  6. I wish I had known the recovery would be harder than I thought. I had the misconception that a laparoscopic surgery would be easy and I'd be back to my normal self within a few days. Had my gall bladder out 12 years ago and I recovered quickly so didn't think this would be much different. Little did I know!! 3 weeks post op and I'm still not my self, still experiencing pain, and still exhausted like whoa!

Oh I'm so glad I read this. I'm 3 weeks post op too and I'm in the same boat. My belly button incision kills me and God help I sneeze. It feels like someone is ramming a hot poker through it when I do. I'm back at work but come 1pm it's like I hit a wall and am useless after that. I had my gallbladder out in 2010 and recovered quick and though that this would be similar. I sure had myself fooled.

  7. I'm curious as to how you all have been doing since....

I'm doing much better now. I'm back to work. Still struggling to drink enough and get all the Protein in. I still have the stuck burp feeling but not as often as I did at first. My main issue now is Constipation. But I've bought Miralax and plan on taking it every other day. I move to soft foods tomorrow.
