  1. My upper arms make me appear heavier sue to the sagging skin from the weightloss.

Has anyone had this done- any regrets?

    Is anyone considering this?

Anyone able to shrink it naturally through working out?

I know you get a scar from armpit to elbow... this is a major decision

sorry about the typo- don't know how to fix the title!

  2. I think it's fair warning to bring a gas mask to the lap band convention!

I am so glad I found this post because I am in the same boat and wondering what happened to me! I burp and fart like a machine!

For me, the gas is its worst in the evening and night!

    Skinipete you are hilarious!!

  3. the kind I have been deviously enjoy is called SWIRL and it has all the active cultures, so they say... and I read the calorie chart that says 125 cals for 5 oz.serving and it's low fat and low sugar! They also have sugar free version, but its not my fav.

She also mentioned something like I should be using food for nutritional purposes and not eating empty calories.

I agree but sometimes that frozen yogurt can save me from enjoying "other things" I shouldn't have.

I am down 24 lbs. knock on wood so I am doing good in my mind. I just am paranoid now that I could damage my band.

I will wait for more responses to see if anyone has ever heard of this!

  4. I am really stumped on this one! I have had frozen yogurt for the 2 months since I've been banded and I have never seen anything written on the subject - I even googled it! an someone please explain this to me? She was saying the coldness can freeze the silicone in the band! HUH?

Frozen yogurt was my angel in disguise instead of ice cream!!!

What about all cold food- ice Water? what else?:Angel_anim:

  5. I really REALLY try very hard to make an effort to slow down when eating, and I do pretty good when I'm alone and milk it out to 25-30 min. as I obsessively watch the clock. The problem I have been experiencing is eating socially with friends and family. Everyone seems to eat so darn fast and I feel kinda weird still eating and chewing knowing I have about 20 more mintues to go.

Now, knock on wood nothing has happened pb-wise. But am I harming anything? And how do y'all handle this situation? I don't want to annouce to everyone I have lap band and I need to take my time and not being social is not an answer. HELP!!

  6. Breakfast: 1/4 stone ground oatmeal sweetened with 1 splenda and flaxseed meal mixed in

    OR

Isopure Protein shake with 1 c. ff milk, 1 tsp. natural pb

    OR

    Protein Bar

(any of these choices are just under 200 cal)

Lunch: Lean Cusine-the ones with 2x veggies and if they come with rice, I don't eat it, I'll substitute a piece of fruit instead

    OR

6 sushi innards like the crab mix and avacado

    (approx.300-350 cal.)

Dinner: salads with turkey or chicken

    OR

chicken with black Beans and a extra small salad

    OR

if we go out to eat, I order whatever and eat 1/4 of it

    (400-500 cal)

Snacks and or dessert:choice of: string cheese, fruit, pita chips and hummus, and last but not least- I am obsessed with frozen yogurt.

    (60-150 cal)

Somehow it's in the 1000-1200 range. These are examples that I revolve around. I try not to go crazy and just listen to my body. If I notice I gain, I cut back the next day- but it may be Water weight. I try to eat Fiber foods like broccoli, rasberries and avacados with my choices. I never drink liquid cals like juice, I drink lots of Water and tea and wine is on the weekend and limited. I need Tony Robbins to give me a pep talk to excercise, but once I'm doing it- I wonder why I didn't do it more often. My goal is to excerise more.

  7. You can still eat around the band. chips, Cookies, candy go down with ease. Emotional relationship with food has to be worked on before anything because it's not magic. Certain foods cause something cause "food addiction" that makes you unsatisfied with a small portion of it. No willpower in the world can help that. Fills take time to get the right amount and it's a lot of ups and downs. I am all for the band, since I have one- but first things first examine food choices and honesty of amounts consumed. I wish I knew cerain nutrition advice when I was that age. Some foods are yummy but do nothing for us. Another good thing is Dr. Oz- his show and books.< /p>

  8. The other day I was really naseous and getting worried I might throw up. I am very fearful about throwing up because of slippage, etc. Luckily, I was able to take a pill and knock myself out. I just wanted to be prepared in case anything happens in the future, I am supposed be traveling in a few weeks. If I ever go on a cruise, I would be really screwed because I wouldn't want to get unfilled and be able to eat everything in sight! I was banded 3/12. I thought it said that on my signature information. I had my 1st fill 2 weeks ago.

  9. It seems kinda crazy to me that with so many people having this procedure done there isn't more help out there for us. I have been told by my doctor's office that if I ever have an emergency to drive to the hospital where my procedure was done (which is half accross town) , so I called the hospital a mile from my house to inquire if something were to ever happen- would someone in the e.r. be able to unfill my band and they said no!!! I am nervous now if I ever travel- am I supposed to get unfilled with the fear that there is no help if I need it. Murphy's law is- if i am gonna need help- I will be in trouble!

  10. I was banded on a Wednesday and was crying that Saturday night saying "why did I do this" I was better emotionally the next day and then decided to go to work on Monday. I wasn't ready to go back and was laying down most of the day. I should have waited a full week! Even that Thursday I wasn't myself. I would advise anyone to take 10 days to stay at home no matter what! Everyday activities can be very straining even though we take them for granted. The pain threshold depends on an individual basis but we cannot see what is going on inside of us! Once you heal physically, you heal emotionally and it DOES get better. As time goes by you are not the same person you were and pain clouds your judgement.I may have only lost some weight, but I have gained self control.
