  1. yesterday worked out with a personal trainer and felt decent as I did 200 cunches and 3 sets of holding a medicine ball and twisting (oblique excerise)

this morning, woke up at 6 a.m. with the kind of punched in the stomach feeling when I got the band put in ( March 08)

do you think I just overworked my muscles or did I do anything to harm my band or port?

possibility- I also just got a fill 2 days ago and it might be tender ?

the pain is a few cm above my port incision , which is right under where my clevage meets. It hurts to cough.

Maybe someone has some help here before I call my Dr. so I don't become the girl who cried wolf

  2. I wish there was some sort of thing that could make my taste buds dissapear so I wouldn't enjoy desserts!

If anyone knows the answer- please let me know!

If we are supposed to eat to live and not live to eat why does the food have to taste so good?

The whole food industry we have to battle is based on economics. bread was a big staple back in the day- is that why the food pyramid reccomendes so many servings?

(not that I can even eat bread!)

Well, we don't really "need" our appendix- so I guess we really don't "need" sugar either!

If I knew how to invent something to take away my taste buds and make me hate sugar- I would!

I was good for a while on the abstienence route-yeah it helps you not crave it- but I had I major problem this weekend at a wedding... getting back on the wagon is hard!!! My willpower was in the other room when I needed it most. Those Desserts were giving me puppy dog eyes, saying "eat me, I'm just a sweet little thing"

    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  3. I was given a card when I had my surgery that if they also use true results (www.trueresults.com) you can find locations and surgeons that use these facilities

I just found the card and it expires 12/31

I tried posting this in the pre op section and surprisingly no one has responded! not one person

I am going out of town wednesday thru next tuesday. please let me know by tomorrow if interested. I really wish this savings wouldn't go to waste. I wish someone gave me $500 off my procedure!!

  4. I looked up these Drs. on the True Results website. If you are using these surgeons- just ask if they are doing you procedure in a true results facility or a hospital. Probably depends on whether you are outpatient type or need an overnight stay. I was given a card that if I refer someone- the person gets $500 off their procedure. I only have one and it expires 12/31. really don't want to just thow it out if it can help someone. justbanded@gmail.com

  5. True Results was the surgical center - it is a hospital but especially for lap band and gastric bypass procedures. I know my Dr. does the procedure in hopsitals and true results. You may be able to request it done there to save the money.

    they are located in:

    Austin (Dr. Marsden)

Dallas (Dr. Benavides, Dr. Fox, Dr. Marsden)

  6. I got a referral card given to me when I got my band. So if anyone is getting it done and is using true results, please let me know because it can save you $500 off the procedure. I just remembered I had it- and it expires Dec 31

Ask your surgeon if they are sending you to a true results center (which was the surgical hospital I had my procedure done in)

please email me if you have any questions thanx

  7. boy I am so glad my port is where it is- in the middle- a few inches below my clevage area

I would go crazy if it were off to the side- there should be on a checklist of good questions to ask your dr. before you get this surgery done!

p.s. lulu- you look so awesome- you are exactly where I want and need to be! I posted in the excersice forum asking about the heart rate monitor strap and the port- maybe you would know since you workout a lot?

  8. I tried using a heart rate monitor strap and it's not comfortable with my port- anyone else have any experiences with this?

I forgot to mention it is not working either- wonder if the port is interfering? I put it a few inches higher than my port- so its not like its on top of it or anything

  9. Here's my opinion:

She can get the fill and see how she likes it, if it causes her to be too tight that she is not able to eat well, then she can go back and get some taken out

That's the beauty of the band.

The bad part is, if she eats poorly without getting enough Protein, she will suffer with health problems...hair loss is one of them.

I do not know what else she is eating to comment more on that.

On the salad part, you don't want to get full off salad. It's better to get full on chicken. Has she tried rotisserie chicken? It's good.

There are things you can do without getting a fill to feel less hungry like staying away from sugar, because all it does is spike your insulin and tricks your mind into wanting more.

If you need some great recipes, let me know. I was really hestitant to try them and now I prefer them to what I used to eat. I used to be really stubborn about my food, too.

I struggle with food addiction and know my trigger foods. You don't have to abstain, you just have to be aware of them and know the consequences of eating them. Let me know if I can help.

  10. One of my last internists was against me getting the lap band.

There are many doctors out there who have their opinions, but I felt I knew myself better and made the right decision.

I am on the prowl for a new MD, DO or internist, so if anyone has any recomendations in the Houston area (Medical Center or 15 miles radius of there) , please let me know!

Looking for a kind, caring, understanding doctor who does not judge me and my band or have strong oposing opinions about weight loss surgery. Want supportive lap band advocating kind of Dr.

*please note I am looking for a regular doctor for bloodwork and physicals, not a surgeon!

  11. I don't know what you are eating- but that is what matters more than the excercise in my opinion.

I struggled with seeing the same number on the scale for months- believing that I could eat whatever I wanted- because I was eating less. Oh, and the excuse of I got this surgery so I didn't "have to follow a diet"

So I decided to drink EAS low carb Protein drinks for Breakfast (100 cal, 17 g.protein), a few slices of deli meat for lunch or low calorie Soups,(under 200 cals and low fat) drink tons of tea and Water and have grilled fish or chicken for dinner with veggies. I stayed away from anything I didn't know the calorie content for. It is much easier if you stay out of restaurants because you never know what you are really getting.

You can eat as much of these items as you feel hungry- the key is you are staying away from sugar and high carbs.

    I dropped 9 lbs in less than 2 weeks. (and I did excercise 2-3 x a week)

Believe me, it is a struggle but well worth it to help you get over a hurdle. After you get all that other shit out of your system (sugar, high glycemic carbs) you feel better and don't want it as much. Look at that food as chemical dependency.

Just try it and see if it can work for you.

  12. I have noticed after eating quickly- I have not PBed (slimed)

    Is that normal?

I also am able to consume 5-6oz. grilled chicken breast for dinner with 1/2 yam and some broccolli.

    Am I eating too much?

I'm still at 3.5 cc's in a 9cc or 9.75 cc band (need to check)

I noticed I can eat more than I could the first few weeks of the last fill.

I am not gaining which is good, but "maintaining"

Before spending $100 to get floro to check my band, maybe someone can help because I am paranoid about if I stretched my band or whathaveyou.

  13. Went to a party Saturday night- food galore- tried to be good- ate 3 shrimp, 3 spring rolls with peanut sauce (not fried), 5-6 tortilla chips with guacamole and had a little problem staying away from this delicious warm heavenly, brie cheese that kinda had some filo dough around it...

Pre band- I would have done a lot more damage- and I "feel" like I was being careful- waiting the whole 30 minutes in between drinking and eating-chewing well and slow and I didn't have ANY of the desserts- so it could have been worse! so that wasn't it...

Nonetheless, I stopped when my burp (not pb) just regular "burp cue" came in as I always do- but this time in 6 months I felt that Thanksgiving feeling for 5 hours- like you wish you never even saw food!

Also, I have never ever had anything doughy since band, so wondering if I felt that fullness from the little amount of filo dough or if I overate

( I know I was taking a risk with that but it was out of this world)

yesteray and today- I haven't been able to eat more than a few bites without feeling full- what do y'all think?

did anything happen???? should I be on liquids?
