  1. I did it! My plane landed at 10:30. I was in having my surgery around 2 (I think). The whole thing went so fast I didn't have time to be nervous. Things to note: The gas pain sucks. As others mentioned, Gas X will not help this out. It is CO2 in the body cavity. Walking a lot is difficult because there isn't a lot places to walk while in the hospital except the bariatric hallway. I am hungry. LOL I feel the little sip of soup I get will a) immediately fill me up and be sheer heaven. There are 3 other people here but I haven't seen them leave their rooms. :/ I want someone to come walk with me. haha
  2. OMG. It is almost time. I go in on the 29th... I have allowed myself to eat like absolute crap for the past 6 weeks and I learned that I am completely over food. I am ready but am getting super nervous. I am going on my own which was my choice but now...ugh. Someone talk me down. I am freaking out. o.O
  3. I really feel like the admin of this board should be stepping in here. Having suicidal thoughts is a big deal and needs to be dealt with immediately. Mucheca, do you have anyone at your house you can tell these feelings to? Have you made a plan as to how you would kill yourself?
  4. I am on the plane...wish me luck!! Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. For those who traveled to Mexico: Did you tip? Who did you tip? How much? Someone mentioned it to me yesterday and it was a lightbulb moment. I hadn't thought about that at all and definitely want to show appreciation! Thank you in advance!
  6. I thought that seemed odd but at this point, I didn't want to be without just in case. LOL
  7. Thank you everyone! Today I start my 72 hour liquid diet. So far I am too nervous/excited to eat anyways. LOL Quick questions: I couldn't find Gas X strips so I bought the chewable tablets. I thought worst case scenario I could suck on them. Opinions on that?
  8. Thank you. I haven't ever read anything about my surgeon either. Having lived in Mexico before, my nerves have nothing to do with that. I think it is the "omg... what a giant, living change". I am not having second thoughts...i am just having a nervous breakdown. Lol Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. No, I am "low bmi" so I go liquid 2 days prior. Tomorrow ous my last day of food. Who did u use? Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Hi everyone. I have lurked around this forum reading everything for a couple of years. I finally took the plunge and am signed up for surgery with Dr. Illian at the end of May. Can I ask who did you tell prior to your surgery? I find myself not wanting to tell anyone other than my husband. Maybe it is because I have struggled with my weight a 100 times. Maybe it is because I am afraid of being judged. Maybe it is because I don't want to hear other's opinons since my mind is made up. I don't know...who did you tell about your surgery and when did you tell them...or did you just keep it to yourself?

    May Sleevers?

I am 25 days out and am really having to be introspective. Last month I ate like **** and gained 5 lbs. I have reeled it back in because my head needs to change to match the physical changes my stomach will go through. After soul searching, decided that there isn't much in the way of food that I will actually miss. Food has been such an adversary in my life that I am RELIEVED to see much of it taken off my plat ( literally). Now what I will miss?? Guzzling water. I love water. And rum and coke/wine. My partying days with my girls are numbered. Lol What will you miss or do you miss? Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

  14. Unfortunately, my husband can't get time off to accompany me to Mexico for my surgery (thanks, Army). Has anyone else gone through the surgery process on their own? How did that work out? Do you think I can get through it fine or is it better to have another person there?
  15. Thank you for responding everyone. It really helped me figure out where I stand and why: I have a "low" BMI. That just cracks me up because only in the world of VGS would I be considered a low BMIer. I weigh 228-229 LBS and I am 5'10.5. I am obese. I have fought the last 20 years of my life to lose 60 lbs and cannot get it off and now I have health issues. Not that I am looking for sympathy but I feel like it is kinda lonely to be a low BMIer. I don't feel like I can talk to people who are more overweight than me because the little voice in my head says I will be getting the side-eye because "I don't need it". I don't feel like I can talk to actual low BMI people because I KNOW I will get the lecture how I am not overweight (a polite lie) and how I just need to exercise (I do). My parents are deceased...no need to explain it to them. My adult kids will lose it and launch into the "you don't' need it" speech so I am keeping them out of the loop until it is done. It is a weird place to be so I choose to deal with this privately. I guess when you put that all together, I don't really care what people think of me but I do enjoy my peace of mind. I don't need their approval nor their criticism so, for now, I am choosing to do this quietly.
  16. I want to feel like I am doing *something* to adjust to my new lifestyle in May. I have a relatively low BMI so my preop diet doesn't begin until 48 hours out. Do you think doing a liquid diet 2 meals a day is a good idea or pointless right now? Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
