I already had a hernia that my surgeon fixed while doing the gastrectomy.
I have a hernia since i was 15 but never notice it until now. The surgeon is going to wait until im less in pounds before tackling that beast.

10 hours ago, Newme17 said:So, it's bedtime for me. Since I'm off the narcs I get to drive. Gotta get back to the routine of life here tomorrow. Get the kids to school. I'm going in to work as well. I feel really good actually. Best part, my boss won't be in until tues or Wednesday so I get to catch up on work by myself. Yay!! I work for a small pipeline construction company that has a huge revenue. It's been awesome, I was a stay at home mom for a long time. My youngest wanted to go to prek, guess she was bored with me. Lol. So since she went to school I figured I might as well as work and stay busy. I used to work corporate jobs, about 13 years of it. This small company has been exciting and interesting. I've had to rearrange a lot of the accounting procedures though. Not sure how they stayed afloat before. Haha.
Thankfully it's a desk job (the only ones I like) and part time for the time being. Ill be full time soon though. I'll be sure to get up and walk around throughout my day. I'm anticipating a great start tomorrow. Anyone else going back to work earlier than two weeks?
That's cool. I just get my daughter up and then i make my shakes. Then send her off and take my meds then sleepy time. I am not even tired but i nap to stay strong. I return after my next advancing cause it would be too much to do the Protein Shakes. So surgeon and nut appointment is on 6/6 so I will return after i get clearance. I wish you luck enjoy your first day back make sure you report.

My surgeon video taped my surgery and gave it to me on a thumb drive. I tried to watch it tonight and had to stop after about 5 minutes in. Something about knowing the tissue that was bleeding was mine was making me queezy . Seeing him lift my liver up and using gauze inside my abdomen was just too much. I found myself thinking I hope he didn't leave any inside me. I really want to watch the whole thing. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be able to do it.
Wow, i cringe looking at someone else much less myself. I would be thinking the same way.

I ask my little girl and she said Mommy you do look more happy. People can see the outside of us more than we can.

Oh yes! That would be cool. The stitched ladies would be running things with our Protein Shakes and Water in our coolers. Watching our stitches heal and laughing while clutching our sides. Walking trips to the grocery planning of next phase of the diet. Kool party.

My biggest worry is getting my Water in and soreness. I have to be at the hospital by 730 am and my surgery is suppose to start at 930 am. I already had my gallbladder taken out but this feels like its on a whole other level. I just can't wait to see how this is going to change my life for the better!
Praying all goes well.

11 minutes ago, mishyk said:So ladies I was wondering.. do you know approximately how long it takes for the stitches to fall off and for the cuts to heal? And how do i know if I'm taking good care of it.. they are dry and have no pain at all so i guess i'm good? I've been out and about but i dont pick up anything heavy except maybe like 2 times.
My paperwork says in 2weeks but my horsey acts up most of the time especially when im drinking something warm that is the only pain/cramp i have. I guess touching and if they feel soft then i guess it's o.k. if the spot is hot, oozing pus/blood then it might require a phone call to the doctor. Sorry for being graphic.

3 minutes ago, Newme17 said:I wonder why so much liquid in the beginning? But I do also think it could be a more brilliant move since our stomachs are so new at this point. Maybe better healing time? I have also considered just adding one food every so often but keeping it mostly liquid as well. I'm still having a hard time with that darn Multivitamin. As slow as I eat it, I feel it and it's not comfortable. Maybe I'm not ready?
That Multivitamin does give you a hard way to go. I hate it.

I was thinking of making fresh guacamole and pureeing it with a puree stick (that's not the actual name of the kitchen appliance) another plan i have for puree is.. getting fresh Beans putting a little seasoning and pureeing it and adding feta cheese (puree everything) and another favorite is mashed potatoes and pureeing it. My goal is if I cant make it myself I wont eat it. Like I will avoid canned foods and packaged foods the most i can.
Sounds yummy we can make things and show a picture of it or give details.

2 hours ago, Newme17 said:Lol...you're absolutely right. We are! I think I'll have to try something real moist and chew it up good. But, who says I can't wait until the 30th, to try it? Lol. Right before my post op appt? That'll give my stomach more time to heal as well. You've got a great point. They won't do anything but encourage me to try before the next appt.
Yes, because they taught us that your taste can change with this surgery. I hope all goes well. I happy we made it through the surgery now the next stages are challenging.😧

51 minutes ago, Newme17 said:Aw, home sweet home. Glad you made it intact! I too can handle larger sips as well. I made it through a bottle of Water pretty easily yesterday. Today I slacked a bit, but like you am aiming to make it up tonight.
I haven't added powder Protein, although I have tons of it between my husband and myself, but I do make Decaf coffee and add my Premier Protein to it when I want an iced coffee. Tastes great. But my guess with Protein Powder, you may want to mix it up a tad with cool Water before pouring it in with coffee and broths as whey protein tends to curdle with high temperatures.
Let us know how it turns out! Today, I've been drinking bariatric pal Soups and broths. So delicious actually.
I am glad you're back safely. I am able to take big gulps.

My Fluid intake is a little down today so I am trying to make up a little tonight. Tomorrow I get to start on Protein Shakes and yogurt. I can't believe how happy I am about that. I have noticed that I can Handel larger sips now as long the liquid is not cold. I am drinking my Water at room temp. I also prefer flavored water now and I never used to.
Have any of you been adding unflavored powdered Protein to your coffee or yogurt or broths? I bought some and I would like to try and boost some stuff to get my Protein up. I am not sure if I just take. Scoop and mix it up?
I tried it with the broth in pre-op but it is an acquired taste.

23 minutes ago, mishyk said:Also i have a little measuring cup that only holds 1 ounce, I drink 2 of those an hour equally only 2 ounces an hour, sometimes i do 3 ounces (of the foods I mentioned above) I'm consistent because I dont want to be dehydrated and since my stomach is a baby basically i am only doing the liquids and nothing else. Hope you all are doing great. When do you guys meet with your surgeon again to follow up? Me on tuesday... I can't wait for the puree stage!! I have so many ideas of foods I want to puree
I see mine on June 6 and that is great to be able to listen to your body. Glad you're doing well God speed.

Im starting to notice the boobs are deflating and im only 6 days out.I am happy at the changes in my body and no matter what the scale reads I going to be happy that it didn't rise. If it rises, i will regroup and trace my steps back to what caused it. It's the climb like Miley Cyrus sings about.
