  1. Its totally normal to feel the way you do. I am just over 3 months since my surgery but it does get better!

For the first few weeks, I felt the same, as though there just wasn't enough time in the day to get all the calories and liquid in, but you do have to keep trying.

Don't worry too much in the very early days about the calories, just remember to eat your Proteins first, followed by the veg and then if you can manage it, carbs. I aim for three meals a day with two healthy Snacks.

I have read on here that keeping hydrated will aid your weight loss as your body needs fluids to flush the fat out. The whole reason we are doing this is to get rid of that fat so days when I am struggling and really have no desire to drink, I make an effort as I keep thinking if I drink more, I will flush more fat out :P

  2. I also use a pill box with the days written on them. They cost £1 over here in one of our £1 shops ( don't know if you have an equivalent over there?) so very cheap!

I hate taking them, really I do but I take them every morning with my first cup of tea, that way I remember but also its just easier to do it and get it out of the way.

  3. I agree, I also used to compare myself with similar weight people who started around the same time as I did, It has driven me mad in the past that I was losing so slowly compared to others. I have lost 38lbs since surgery and people similar to me have lost up to 60!

However, I am also a realist so I just carry on eating Protein, drinking fluids and walking every day. I am very very grateful that I have lost 38lbs in the last three months as I could not have achieved that on my own, no way!

Keep doing what you are doing, it will work out in the end x

Also, check out the pic below, it tells you what the guidelines are for how much weight is reasonable to lose according to your starting weight.

Tell them you were born with 3 testicles, only 2 descended, they have to go in and find where it went. Or you got a boil the last time you wore a Speedo and you want it fixed so you can go on a Caribbean cruise. Or tell them you're having a sex change, you're going to keep trying, until you find one b you like. That ought stun them into silence.🎭

I know you live in America, but I seriously wish you were my next door neighbour, I love your humour!

  5. I have only told my immediate family and my best friend. Anyone else that asks I just say I am following a very low calorie diet and it is working!

Also, regarding the scars from surgery, if anyone asks in the future, I will say it was from having my gallbladder out, which is true but I had it done 15 years ago lol.

One other thing, here in the uk you can have the surgery done for free on the Nhs if you go through many hoops and it takes about 18 months to two years. Some people take offence that you have what they would class as non essential surgery and that it means in their eyes that you are a burden on the Nhs. That's obviously false as statistics show I will be much less of a burden once I lose all that weight and won't need diabetic meds and high blood pressure meds etc in the future.

  6. I'll kick this off.

I had a pair of scales a few years back that told me my body fat was 62%, I doubt it was accurate but you never know.

I started this process 2 years ago and it took that long for me to get accepted here on the NHS. My body fat percentage just before my op was 43%. I have lost 54lb

(almost 4 stone in the uk) and my body fat is now 40.2. It can only get better from here on in!
