    Pureed or blenderized food ideas

How about pimento cheese? It's been a staple for me. I never actually pureed anything. I just had softish food like yogurt, canned chicken, pimento and ricotta cheese and chewed thoroughly. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. There are a lot of 'smart water bottles' and apps that remind you to drink. One bottle might vibrate, light up, etc to get your attention. Or download an app that vibrates your phone, etc. I was horrible with these type of things pre op, but I decides it was critical, so I developed a habit of every time I went to the ladies room, I'd grab my water bottle and walk around the building. It's my new habit, and helped with my water and exercise. Can you do something like this? You're worth it! Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

How do I get enough protein

Our pan calls for 3 meals, and 40oz of shakes. I eat yogurt, cheese, and put protein powder in my coffee. I also eat a lot of canned chicken. Buffalo chicken dip, or add canned chicken to my soup. Plus, protein water is useful. If I have a good day, I will have 1 premier protein, but in the beginning, I had to have 2. realistic time off work

I felt good enough to go back on day 4. But I took 4 weeks because I can and get paid for it. I'm glad I did, because I've found when I get distracted, it's easy to lose focus of my fluid, protein and meal goals. Plus, my boss is an @ss, and I'm sure being at work would have caused stress I don't need. I admit, I'm bored. So I go for walk, watch lifetime, judge Judy and just focus on Me. I am so am probably doing too much, like those little projects that have been piling up for a while, like weeding, fertilizing trees, building a closet, painting an old cedar chest. It's sort of nice! Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I used Dr wizman partner, Dr Taggar 18 days ago and paid less than that (they have had specials) Have you confirmed the cost? I was Sleeved 8/11, and while I paid for 2 nights in the hospital, I only stayed one night. I did my labs here (SC) using insurance, psych consult via phone, drove down on Thursday, surgery Friday, follow up Monday, then drove 10 hours home. For my incisions, I had 5, they were closed inside with clear sutures, then the skin closed with glue. I felt great since the moment I woke up, (except the gas pains) and have lost 10. 2 lbs. I had one post op question I texted to Dr Taggar, and he answered me very quickly. I have no complaints! Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Alcohol

I wonder if you take gas x with the mimosa, will it break down the carbonation in your stomach? Or maybe use Moscato worth trop 50? That would have no carbonation. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Alcohol

But we aren't supposed use food/alcohol to cope any more Easier said than done, I understand. At the very least, get some trop 50, because it has less sugar and calories than regular OJ. And maybe let the champagne go flat. You've got 3 things working against you. Juice/sugar, carbonation and alcohol. That might be enough to cause dumping in some people. When was your surgery? You might find you don't want it. I have no desire for food/drink at all, and if I do fix myself something, I don't want it after a few sips/bites. I had 1oz champagne after my surgery, and it went down OK, but my stomach really hurt after. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. In the hospital, in the hotel gym, at home.... At the hospital I was up 7 lbs, and home it's been up and down. Tough to deal with sometimes, but it always has been! Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. that's great! I love seeing the Church in action. Best wishes!
  10. I drink these too. I don't like them as much as when I got them, but it's a nice alternative to a shake. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Psych

Mine was just like a conversation with a friend. She also had the sleeve and gave me some tips. We talked about my background, health and weight history, work background, lifestyle, why I want to do this, my support system, and she also asked about my history of food, drugs, alcohol/verbal/sexually abuse, past counseling history. I had to do a questionnaire and I marked off that I had a quick temper and she asked me about that. I actually enjoyed it. I know that's what she gets paid to do, but I sort of wish we could be friends, because we had some things in common. Much less stressful than I thought it was going to be. But I'm so uninteresting. Two divorces where I had counseling, but no history of any sort of abuse of anything. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. The self pay package comes with 3 days, 2 nights, but they try to get you home on day 2, saying you heal better at home. I checked in at 7, surgery at 9, and went home around 2 the next day. So about 31 hours? I had the blue dye test in the OR. Dr Taggar told me they haven't found much value in post op swallow tests, so they don't do them. I also like their diet plan. Because my bmi was below 37, I didn't really have a preop diet. But I did 3 shakes a day, plus a lean green meal. Post op, we started purees including ground turkey/chicken on day 3-14, regular texture meats day 15-30ish (plus beans) and red meat/veggies after that. I felt like it was so much more doable than some of the other plans I read about.
  14. I used Dr wizman's partner, Dr Taggar. Their self pay price was $8899. I used coral springs medical center, but I think Dr wizman also does surgeries at Northwest. I couldn't be happier with my experience. The coordinators are busy, but I was persistent and had all my questions answered. I also learned they can be flexible on some preop testing based on different factors. They originally asked for h pylori, but then waived it. Another gal had the psycheval waived. I traveled from SC, had surgery on Friday 8/11,had a follow up Monday, then sat in the car 10 hours home. So, I know I didn't answer your question, but I wanted to share my experience with Dr wizman's office. I think my whole process was 3.5 weeks from consult to surgery. Best wishes! 15. We were told to start with 1oz every 15 minutes for the 1st day. Second day, we could use a cup, but to progress slowly . Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Problem with purging

Great point! I think our nurse was mainly referring to blowing out Staples, like many fear. But this is a great point I never even thought of. Having had a massive hernia, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

    Greek yogurt

Ooh, another idea is peanut butter powder. Might make it taste a little grainy, but worth a shot. You might even be able to find a sample pack at Walmart to try.

    Problem with purging

I want to say yes, if it makes you stop. But, our nurse told us there is nothing that we can do (vomiting, etc) that can hurt our new sleeve. My heart goes to you. Please take care of yourself. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

  20. $8899, included surgeon and 2 nights in the hospital. $500 for 5 nights hotel, $200ish for preop testing through my Pcp blood work, ekg, chest xray and a psych eval. But depending on age/situation, they've been known to waive certain tests such as psych and h pylori. Plus gas money. We stayed at a nicer hotel. Hubby likes Marriott and free breakfast! We left 2 days early to make the drive easier, so we probably could have saved a night's hotel had we wanted to push it. There is a LA Quinta within walking distance most people stay at and are happy with. There were plenty of cheap flights into ft lauderdale and Miami, but we chose to drive the 8 hours. I used bariatrix Florida, Dr amit Taggar. Couldn't be happier. Turnaround time was like 3 weeks from consult to surgery.
  21. I have fepblue and it would have disqualified me to drop below 35 as , if I didn't have comorbidities. But, I think if you have sleep apnea, you might be OK. But, all insurance is different. I was 35.6 when I started and couldn't even lose 2 lbs or I would be not covered. That's hard! So I went self pay because it felt stupid to keep gorging to keep my weight up. But many others say your initial bmi is what counts. Good luck! Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hospital stay

I was self pay and paid for 3 days, 2 nights. But I only stayed 2 days, 1 night (30ish hours). Normally my Dr does a follow up at 10 day, but since I am out of town, my followup was on day 3. Surgery Friday, discharged saturday. Followup Monday, then a 10 hour drive home. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. We were told no swimming for 2 weeks. My incisions are totally closed by day 10 (with 1 exception). My plan was always to use 3m waterproof bandaids if I wanted to swim earlier. I have no pain either and feel great. We start vitamins at 2 weeks. I'm using store brand Flintstones complete for now, but they are sort of gross. I wonder if name brand tastes better? I have the calcium, but I drink a lot of milk and yogurt, so I'm not sure if I will actually take it. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

  25. I'm a lightweight too. I've lost 9 lbs in 13 days. But it was 8 lbs in 7 days, and the last lb has been up and down. Overall, I'm happy, but it's hard not to have a smidgen of disappointment. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
