    Blurry eyes after surgery

I had it for about a week post op. When I asked on my surgeons Facebook page, many reported the same thing. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Starbucks drinks

I haven't, but I have seen some people report they get a 'shot' or two in a large cup, then top it off with a premier protein shake. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. I paid $8999, but it might have been a special. They responded quick to my initial email inquiry. I've seen Omen one post the cost is around 10,500, but I don't know if that's an old price, new price, etc. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Has sleeve helped with comorbidity?

I had high BP, high cholesterol and pre diabetes. I'm off all meds and I'm 7 weeks post op. I am 45 and have never seen a cholesterol number below 200, since I was 20 years old. My latest is 162, down from 325. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Heartburn

Our plan used to keep sleeve patients on for 6 months, now it's just 1 month. I'm too afraid to stop! Long term use of ppi's has some risk, but I think the risk of long term acid damage is high. My Pcp did recommend maybe switching from a ppi to something like pepcid or tagamet. My surgeon ok'd it's use if I needed it. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

HELPPPP ME :( I cant stop itching

I have never been able to determine the cause of my itching. I've been to the best Dr in the country and we can't find anything wrong. Itching is such a common symptom. If you're not having any other symptoms, I would just try Benadryl or Zyrtec. Most clinics will do the same. If that doesn't help, then maybe go in. How far out are you? There is also topical benadryl cream, but it's hard to cover every spot that itches sometimes! I feel your itch.

    Surgery Final Costs and Food

I'm 7bweeks out. Last night was hubby's class reunion, with a small buffet. I took, 1 tiny BBQ biscuit, a piece of roast beef, 2 crackers w cheese ball, 1 pudding shot and 1 chicken tender. I ate, a bite of chicken, 2 nibbles of biscuit, 1 cracker with 1T spreadable cheese and about 2T of pudding. I was stuffed! But I enjoyed every thing and was satisfied. I also nursed a glass of wine over 2 hours and never finished it. I didn't feel like I missed out on anything. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

HELPPPP ME :( I cant stop itching

Zyrtec (sold Otc) works great to help with itching. I've been taking it daily for years. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Knot at incision site

Mine burned too when pressure was applied. But it was small, the size of a pea. My Pcp said totally normal and scar tissue should take a year to heal. That being said, mine is still hard (but not as hard) at 4 weeks, but doesn't bother me any more.

    Knot at incision site

There is probably sutures inside, and glue holding the skin closed. I have the same knot feeling, and my Dr said it's scar tissue. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Phentermine?

I'm far from an expert, but I would ask your surgeon about the ppi, or maybe even just try it (read the label and do your research). Even read here some more, and you will see how common it is. You're also so close to the next stage! Kudos to you for hanging in there. You're doing great, hopefully they will advance you soon. You should be proud of you perseverance. But, if was someone holding a gun to my head, I'd rather try puree a few days soon than take phentermine.

    Phentermine?

A ppi is a proton pump inhibitor/acid reducer such as nexium or Prilosec, or prescription versions. Many people report acid reflux feels like hunger and it's one of the first questions that get asked when people say they're feeling hungry. Our surgeon prescribes 30 days of protonix, then we switch to Prilosec otc if needed. I feel for you! My plan was not near as strict. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Phentermine?

No! No! No! That's not a long term solution, and probably not advisable that close to a major surgery. Once you start eating solid protein, you should definitely feel the restriction. Are you feeling hungry? Are you taking a ppi? Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. For my first followup (day 4), I was expecting a lecture because I was only getting about 50oz. My surgeon was like "really? That's great!". Best wishes for stage 2! Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Purees stage

I never pureed anything. I ate soft stuff (canned meat, pimento cheese, etc) and just chewed till it was puree. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

Anyone do the hiatal hernia insurance route?

I wanted to do this, but none of the surgeons in my town ever heard of doing it this way. I gave up and did self pay in another state. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. My Pcp was for it, and did all my preop testing and post op blood work. But, then again I don't think she is all that well versed in Bariatrics, since she told me the sleeve is reversible. She saw me at my heaviest, and knew my struggles with pre diabetes, cholesterol and high BP. I did have a surgery friend whose Pcp wouldn't provide medical clearance. The surgeon gave her several local docs to contact and I think she finally got it. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Solid food

I'm the same way. I can barely eat 3oz of anything dense. I feel stuffed, yet satisfied. I don't mind it because I enjoy the food just as much as before. The most I've eaten of anything is 5.3oz of yogurt. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. I took 4 weeks because I could. It was great to have the time to learn new habits. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. People seem to experience it, but I don't think it was any worse for me and I had a type II hernia. My dr describes it as a 5 minute, 2 stitch fix. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I had surgery in FL, but am receiving most of my follow up care from my Pcp. My surgeon gave me post op labs to have done at 6 weeks, 6 months, 1 year and then every year after. It's a whole slew of tests, and my Pcp had no problems ordering them. I've been having heart palpitations and have emailed the Bariatric nurse back in FL. She has been great with reviewing my labs and providing advice that I have passed along to my Pcp who was happy for the input. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Too much too soon?

Many consider yogurt basically a slider food. At first, I was measuring 3oz, but now that I'm six weeks out, I eat the 5.3oz container because it's convenient and I got bored with the same flavor. When it comes to other stuff like meat, I can barely eat 3oz. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Lower BMI

My high bmi was 35.6, and I had 3 comorbidities. I was down to 32ish at surgery 6 weeks ago. My cholesterol has dropped 50 percent, I just stopped my BP meds, and I'm no longer pre diabetic. Since June 1st, I'm down from 195 to 162. Surgery weight 180. I'm so happy I did this! Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gas pain?

Yes! Laying on my left side helped. I felt wonderful, then would writhe around with gas, fart, repeat for about 2 to 3 days. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. For my puree stage, I wasn't allowed red meat, but I could have ground turkey. So I made turkey meatballs. I had 1 meatball, and ricotta bake. I cooked macaroni for hubby and he added it and a little extra sauce. Win for everyone, although the ground turkey didn't sit well with me. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app
