  1. I am currently four months post op. I and able to eat a lot more than I thought I would be. I can eat a boca burger and a half a cup cottage cheese for a meal. I feel satisfied and I'm not full. To you WLS veterans out there, does this seem normal? It almost makes want to go and ask the surgeon to take more stomach out.

How are you feeling? How much weight have you lost?

  2. Don't be upset it will happen. We have the same surgery date I have only lost 12 pounds so far. When I went to the doctor's office I was like that's it they said that was good and some people even gained in the beginning keep your head up. Your doing great...

They said the same thing to me and I was like what! But congrats on the weight loss. I will just keep drinking my Water, eating my bland foods, and walking. Hopefully I can lose at least another 20 by my wedding in October. Staying optimistic at this point!

    Thank you !

  3. I am 9 days post op and yesterday I ate 1 scrambled egg. I'm not suppose to until day 15, but I just can't help myself. I feel so hungry since the first day out. I heard I wasn't suppose to feel hungry ,but my doctor said some people are different, but it's likely head hunger. Does it matter what type of hunger it is the feeling is still the same uugggh how can I make it 5 more days????

I think you're fine. I know you're on a liquid diet still but I came out of the hospital eating eggs so if that was your 'cheat' it's not the end of the world. Hang in there, you've come this far. You can do it.

  4. I've been the same weight for an entire week and I'm frustrated! I was just sleeved on 5/31 and including pre-op (2 weeks liquid) I'm down 22 lbs. 15 of those were from the pre-op diet. I'm doing everything by the book so I can't understand why I'm stuck. Anyone have advice?

(I'm a once a week weigher, not daily)

    Thanks in advance!

  5. This is not normal. You need to contact your Dr and have them work with you on while you are only able to get so little in per day.
    You could have a complication.
It is better to have the Dr validate where you should be than strangers on the internet.

I have my appointment tomorrow but I was just looking for some info til then.

  6. What are you eating? When you say a fork full? I wasn't allowed any food just shakes and Water.

I've heard that a lot but my dr has me on mushy foods straight out of the hospital. They gave me eggs before I was discharged. I did 2 weeks liquid before surgery.

I've been having tuna with a small amount of olive oil mayo, hard boiled eggs in the food processor, hummus, and shredded chicken breast. Tonight I'm trying a piece of salmon.

I've been doing a Protein Shake for breakfast but it literally takes me 2 hours to drink 11oz.

  7. I had my surgeon consult two weeks ago. I assumed after that appointment, the coordinator would speak to me regarding the appointment requirements I needed. That didn't happen. I did all of my lab work this past friday (had to wait two weeks to get the heart burn meds out of my system) and have a psych consult scheduled for tomorrow.
Shouldn't I have a nutritionist appointment lined up?
I'm so confused by the requirements and the timeline. I spoke with my insurance regarding the 6 month physician supervised diet (Anthem BCBS) and asked if my OB prescribing my Phentermine in December counted towards that. She said yes. But where do I go with that information? Does my OB need to call my insurance? This is so confusing.

Did you all have a coordinator helping you with this stuff?

I had to set up all of my appointments by myself. The coordinator only set up my surgery date and the day before the hospital called with my time. They should have given you a list of the clearances you needed and then it was up to you to get the appointments and make sure you go to them.

  8. I'm 9 days post op and I am literally having to force down my Protein Shakes at this point. It's not that my stomach can't tolerate them, it's that between my pre-op diet and now having to drink them again just the thought of a Protein Shake is making me want to gag. I have never been a fan of sweet drinks and it seems like each one is sweeter than the last. Does anyone have any suggestions about how else to get my Protein?

    Thanks!

Check out herbox sodium free broth packets. They were a life saver for me. No salt, 10 calories. They breakup the monotony of the shakes.

  9. What should I order ahead of time? What should I bring to the hospital?

Just bring a change of clothes and a copy of your surgical clearance, license and insurance card because you never know. And as far as what to order, it depends on the diet your doctor puts you on. I'm on a mushy food diet straight out of the hospital but many people are on liquids only. (I did 2 weeks liquid before surgery). If you have to do liquids before I highly recommend herbox broth packets. They come in sodium free and really break up the sweetness from the shakes and they're only 10 calories!

    Good luck!

  10. Hi!
I am scheduled to undergo outpatient gastric sleeve on 7/20/17. I have been a yo-yoer for as long as I can remember. I'm done. I'm ready to be healthy! I am a little worried about going home same day. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I went home the next day. Hey had to do a barium swallow the next morning to make sure there were no issues and that I could tolerate swallowing. I'd ask your doctor about staying over. They may do the swallow test the same day though. Every dr is different.

  11. I'm just about a week out (tomorrow) and I barely eat. I just can't do it. I can't hold a lot of food. I have a fork full here, a fork full there, a Protein Shake for Breakfast. I'm only getting 30g of Protein and 40oz of Water a day. If I push it, I get really nauseous. I know the new stomach shouldn't hold much but is this normal for week 1? I've heard other people are hitting their water and protein goals and I'm struggling.

  12. Is it just me or does anyone else feel like nothing they eat tastes good? I feel like my taste buds have changed. (I'm two months post-op)
Also,I feel like my sense of smell has changed too. I feel badly for my poor fiancé. If he has onions during the day, he has to face the other direction when we are sleeping because his breath makes me want to barf. Poor guy. LOL

Same. I'm only about a week out but everything I can eat just tastes bland. (I'm on mushy foods like tuna and egg salad that are not bland). Hopefully when I progress to the next stage it'll be better!

  13. Please tell me I'll feel better tomorrow....and the next day...and so on! I got sleeved this morning and I'm miserable right now, trying to go to bed. I'm pretty sure it is gas pain and I've been walking as much around the house as I can since I got home. I've taken a few GasX...both chewable and melt strips. I've only been able to take about 15 ounces of Water and one 20 gram Protein drink (Muscle Milk). Because I've had so little, I only took 1/2 my pain pill just so I can sleep tonight. Any words of encouragement for this mama?! Thank you!!

I was sleeved 5/31 and yesterday was my first day of feeling better. Today I'm even better than yesterday. The first 3 days after were rough, I'm not gonna lie to you, but it gets better!!
