Surgery date May 30
Congrats & glad to hear! I'm on liquid only to shrink my liver & it's going surprisingly well. Two scoops Garden of life and two scoops of Orgain & one pack of Costco frozen berry smoothie mix with blueberries raspberries and strawberries. That combined makes two perfect shakes within the guidelines. Ms. Brightside 116 Replied: May 13 · Report That sounds really good. I never would have thought to mix different protein powders. Thanks! SEAHAWKS FAN! 43 Replied: May 13 · Report 31 grams of protein in 1 shake. Remember that makes 2 smoothies though. I blend it with just over 2 cups of water & it makes 2 16oz. Smoothies.

I'm lost
Two scoops Garden of life and two scoops of Orgain & one pack of Costco frozen berry smoothie mix with blueberries raspberries and strawberries. That combined makes two perfect shakes within the guidelines. Over 30 grams of protein & less than 15 grams of carbs about 200 calories. Powders are available at most grocery stores & Costco has Orgain. Been on this for two weeks now with one meal & 3-4 shakes per day. Tommorow I go to 4 shakes per day & no food until surgery on May 30th. Then post-op diet begins. Oh joy!

Fred Meyer/Kroger, Walmart, Target, & other grocery stores have most of these. Fred Meyer/Kroger have a huge variety of vegan powders.

VEGAN Better Than Bouillon Chicken & Beef flavor
Found these today on the website. There's a list of stores that they say will ship on request. No Beef & No Chicken flavored broth/soup base. The vegetable broth is delicious! Can't wait to try these. Will be great for pre-op post-op & liquid diets. http://www.betterthanbouillon.com/products/default.aspx?catid=3

Surgery scheduled May 30!
I been having mixed thoughts/emotions & weird dreams & that's totally out of the ordinary for me but I think it has a lot to do with the pre-op diet & low carbs. It's a huge change/commitment & there is a certain level of fear/uncertainty going on which is also out of the ordinary for me. I just already want to eat normally & small portions are fine but this pre-op & I'm sure post-op diet as well are tolerable but in a behind bars kind of way! Smaller stomach/ smaller meals should be easy compared to this agony!

What do you wish you would have know pre-op?
Spokane has a great aquifer! Any time we travel it's bottled water but at home straight from the tap.

What do you wish you would have know pre-op?
Me to a 16 or 20 oz cup/bottle without coming up for air. I also love water & have never drank it any other way.

What do you wish you would have know pre-op?
That was my first question & biggest concern! My surgery is May 30th & the thought of not being able to chug water freaks me out! That's just how I've always drank it.

Food options
Posted this once before but here it is again. Are you eating hearty foods with little to no sauce or broth? Are you drinking Water with your meals? You're not supposed to drink before or after your meals. Are you taking 20 minutes to eat each meal? Are you following the 2-3-2 rule? Are you drinking liquid calories or snacking between meals?

Food options
Just had some Gardein plant based chicken with stir fry veggies & a little teriyaki sauce. Over 20 grams of protein less than 10 grams of carbs & around 200 calories. Delicious!!
-
Food options
I also use Orgain & Garden of Life protein powder. I'm vegan & all plant based/vegans have plenty of protein options. You don't have to have animal protein to survive & it's also easier for women who require less protein in their diet than men.

Protein shakes
Try vegan or plant based protein. They have it at Costco. The one I use is called Orgain. Some people tolerate plants better than dairy.

Food options
Have you tried GARDEIN meatless beef chicken & fish? I love that stuff & the plant based protein is as good or better than meat. It's also vegan! They have it at Target for $3.99 a package here & they have anywhere from 2 to 5 servings.

Protein Goal too low?
Bill Nye where are you?

Protein Goal too low?
This is minimum protein guidelines. No harm in 30 grams per meal as long as the carbs are low. I know liquid calories are frowned upon but there are low calorie sources of tasteless protein that even mix with water.
