Hi everyone! I've been a bit MIA since surgery. Have been trying to stay busy and have definitely been self reflective. Everything went well, but wow, what a surreal experience- probably because I traveled to Mexico for mine.

I was exhausted after the surgery and slept a lot. Had some nausea and pain (not too severe) for the first few days with a bit of dry heaving and one successful foamy vomit. Was up and walking the same day. The following day I walked about a half mile. The day after that I went to the San Diego Zoo, used a wheel chair off and on and also got a sunburn to add to my situation. 😎

I would say the first day I felt great was on the 5th day. Only had pain at the incisions and some bubbly guts, especially when I tried to drink Water too quickly.

All in all, considering I had most of my stomach removed, it's pretty incredible how quickly I'm healing. Each day is an improvement. The incisions are small which is a plus.

As far as hunger, ghrelin is one hell of a hormone. I literally still do not feel hungry at all. I do get "head" hungry and had a few moments of despair, beginning with being in Mexico and not able to eat tacos. I'm also going through weird cravings, like just a few moments ago I really wanted a sandwich with crunchy pickles. I thought about chips and queso several times yesterday. chocolate cake sounds too good to even think about, but sometimes I'll look at food and get grossed out. It's a whole new world. Sometimes I'll think I'm getting hunger pangs but it's actually just gas. Once it moves around and disappears, the feeling goes away.

I do have to keep reminding myself to stay hydrated. All in all, everything is good. Now, I need to go buy a scale! I haven't had one in years for fear that I might accidentally trip and fall on it and see my weight. It's strange to be excited to track it now.

Good luck to all the April and future sleevers!

I'm Dylan you are doing much better I'm doing good after my surgery today

I also had surgery on the 13th of April. It didn't take long. I was up and walking that evening. Slowly but surely. The following day I didn't need any extra pain medication. I did have to take carafate. An anti acid and make it easier to swallow. But thankfully yesterday or today I haven't taken anything else. I'm glad everything is working out on your end. I'm feeling good. It's hard to get one premiere Protein Shake in a day
It's 3pm and I got one down plus 24 oz of Water. I'm literally sipping on that or Water all day. My mouth is like cotton mouth still. I hope everybody else is going well. Good luck to those that haven't had surgery. Don't give up. We are all different and some heal faster than others. Much love to you all!

Congratulations to both of you on your new journey my surgery is tomorrow April 17

I gained 10 lbs from the IV fluids. So frustrating, even though it's temporary. In fact, about five of us had our surgeries the same day in the same hospital, and we ALL gained. Our doctor said it's the nurses' fault for pumping us all full of fluid! LOL!

    I like that

Hello everyone my revision from sleeve to RNY was April 11th. Everything went well. Pain was controlled very well. At no point was it intolerable. I came home Thursday evening. My biggest problem is gas. My stomach and back is filled with gas and nothing's moving it. I've been walking taking gas-x using heating pad. Nothing is working. Just sent my hubby to the drug store to grab mylacon drops and hope maybe that will help. Any suggestions on the gas?. Silly me put on a sports bra to go to the store to grab Protein Water and the darn sports bra ripped the glue right out of the incision between my breast. It look like it will be ok but I asked my hunny to grab some steri strips as well. I don't know what the heck I was thinking. Thought since it wasn't a wire it would be ok.

Wow I hope everything will be ok soon praying for you

I made a very big commitment today. I usually start my day with a glass of Pepsi and then consume at least a two liter of Mt Dew throughout the day, if not more. When it comes to food well, I never measured, portioned or counted calories. Today I woke up and new it was my day to make my first big change. I have had nothing except Water to drink today! It's 4:30 and I've not touched a drop of anything else. I think I might be getting a caffeine headache, but I'm not giving in. Not this time. I skipped Breakfast, I rarely eat it. For lunch I had two chicken slider sandwiches and some fruit. So, I've ingested 460 calories plus 40 more for the miracle whip. I am so proud of myself! I want to get myself in a healthy routine now so that it's habit after surgery.

What apps do you guys use to help with your daily routine? I saw a Drop It, but can't find it in my App Store. Do you use an exercise app? What are your favorites? What ones don't work?

    My surgery is in December.

I don't know any app right now but what I did I cut out sweet ,use wheat Pasta and for bread also limit your intake on starchy vegetable and do Protein Drinks like Premier Protein drinks or do the powder kind and you can add like crush package to it bake your food more then frying food

    Hello everybody!!
I did it. I came out of surgery yesterday around 4pm eastern time. It's 6:03Am and I must say that the heartburn part was the worse then the pain as well made it more challenging. But if you go in it expecting it, then it won't come a surprise. I don't like when people sugar coat the recovery. Just expect the pain to be bad and hope it isn't. If I can get through it so each and every one of you can do it as well. I walked twice. I can now go to restroom alone and I'm sitting up with no issues. Just controlling my the heartburn and pain in advance is how I feel less pain. I'm praying for each and every one of you. Stay focused and don't forget your "whys" you're doing this and don't underestimate your strength.

Thank you very much I need to hear that

I had an RNY Monday (10 April) and the gas pains when I came out of anesthesia were horrendous. Luckily they sedated me pretty quickly. I had two other episodes which were less horrible, but still horrible. Thankfully, I've been home a full 24 hours and no major issues, just gas...not trapped gas, but gastrointestinal gas. I never knew I'd appreciate farting so much!

I'm glad you both are doing ok I pray that you all have a speedy recovery
