  1. GOAL!!! this week I have reached my goal. I have lost 30kgs (66.7lbs or 4.7 stone) since 20/3/17 and I feel amazing. I'm fit and healthy and wearing an AU size 8/10. Can't believe it. It hasn't been easy, it's involved an immense amount of will power and very regular exercise but has been well worth it. My friends say I look 15 years younger and I certainly have a younger outlook and feel so very positive. If you are stuck, just getting started or just need to hear that it can be done then believe me it can. Just grit your teeth and stay on it and you'll get there, and when you do your life will be so much happier and fulfilling. Good luck🍀

  2. I'm thrilled with my progress so far. In just 9 weeks I have lost 20kgs (44lbs) and am feeling so much fitter and generally so much happier. It has not been easy, I am VERY strict with myself about what I eat and i'm walking at least 5kms per day at a very brisk pace and it's really paying off.  For quite a while I was disheartened that no one seemed to notice my weight loss but then all of a sudden I could really see it and so can others. It's such a good feeling when friends comment and say that I'm looking really well. To anyone considering weight loss surgery, know that it is not a quick fix and that you really have to put in the effort to get moving and eat well but it's so worth it. Tonight I ate out for the first time and just had an entree, no main course and picked at the vegetables that came as a side. It was yum and I was full and happy. Feeling optimistic to lose the last 10kgs and hit my goal weight.

  4. 9 weeks post op (Plication) and feeling great. I have lost just under 20kgs (41.8lbs) and am well over half way to my target weight. My kids bought me a Fitbit for my birthday which is really encouraging me to keep moving, doing around 5kms per day at a brisk pace and fitting into gym gear without feeling self conscious. When I get down to the last 10 kgs in a couple of weeks I think I'm going to have to start going to the gym and building some good muscle for core strength and I know the last few kgs will be tough to get off. I start back at Uni 1August and want to have reached my goal by then. I comfort eat when stressed and studying again after 30+ years will be stressful but if I've hit my goal I will be determined to keep it off. Here goes nothing!

  5. Can anyone tell me what 'dumping' is please? See it in other posts and not sure what it is and if it applies to Plication Surgery.

  6. 5/20 - Ate the eggplant ricotta bake. I had that foamy feeling in my mouth and the rumbles. I guest eggplant does not sit well in my tummy. Went to the Taco placed and got a naked chicken burrito. I tried their new kind of chicken (FYI The guy failed to inform me that it was chipotle spicy chicken. Oh it tasted delicious. 5 minutes later I was puking up foam. I ended up spending my lunch break laid on the floor in the back of the office curled up in the fetal position. So spicy food does not love me anymore :(.

5/21 - Did not have any meal prep because the eggplant would not sit well in my tummy. The left over Halal chicken that I had, I spilled pulling it out of the my lunch box (Damn Portion8 container lol) I ended up getting a chicken Salad from the Turkish place downstairs. It was an interesting taste. It was sweet. Felt very disappointed after I weighed in. I only lost 4 oz for that week. I had worked out really hard. I did however notice that my stomach is getting smaller. I might have just lost inches and gained muscle. Lost 8.8 lbs during my second month post-op. Current 220.6 lbs

5/22 - Wanted to get a Protein Drink from Vitamin Shoppe. Ended up getting some Atkins Granola bars. DO NOT BUT THEM. They are delicious, high in protein but have 17g of carbs in one bar but they advertised it at NET Carbs 3g. SNEAKY SNEAKY. I ate two of them and then realized it. They also are 210 calories each. It works because I will be full off of one for 2+ hours however 420 calories on just two bars is a lot. Now I have to be really mindful of what I am reading. When I see low carbs I have to check to see if it says NET (they do some type of convoluted math to get to that low number). Went to the gym before work and the trainer really kicked my butt. I am sore but loving it. Today, we focused on Cardio. Tomorrow he said will be weight lifting. Wish me luck!!! Oh dinner and lunch consist of grilled chicken breast and a dipping sauce that I made (1/4 cup fire roasted tomato sauce and 1/2 tsp of ricotta). Watermelon on the side for snacks.

Well done jewel. That's great progress, you're looking good and doing really well at the gym from the sound of it. Can you tell me what 'dumping' means please?

  7. Why when are trying to be good a new commercial pop-ups making you want to slather your face in whatever they are selling? Like lil Caesar pizza

Oh I hear you. I have never realised how much food is on tv. If they're not trying to sell it it's in movies and ads, everywhere you look there's product placements of food and so many scenes in restaurants and diners. Was watching some reruns of Seinfeld and I swear they eat every meal in the diner!

  9. Pre-op Diet Day #2

Well, I'm tired and hurting and hungry.  I was going to post an update earlier, but ended up having to help my husband with a couple of wall cabinets that he's installing.  Turned out to be a bit of a challenge.  (Old house, uneven walls).  I'm ready for bed, took a Benadryl because these allergies are acting up. I won't be able to take anything after Friday, but Tylenol, which I will be taking for my now, new, re-injured shoulder.  Ugh.  If I lift heavy, move it certain ways, it's killing me afterwards.  Even now as I type, so I'm leaving it short as possible.

Today, I did well.  I followed everything precisely again.  I wanted to get creative for my one meal, but, well, I don't have a kitchen to cook.  So, I just ate some more shrimp with broccoli and cauliflower.  If I had time, or more time, I'll try to find something else other than what I ate for two days in a row.  Does anyone have any ideas? I think would have just been easier to do all liquids for me.  Maybe I'll get some seasoned chicken breasts that's already cooked in the frozen section tomorrow.

I'm hungry and going to bed as so.  Goodnight ya'll.  :68_sleeping:

Once your weight falls away you will find that old injuries are way less troublesome. I have had a very bad shoulder for 11 years, literally have to take pain meds every day. Unfortunately it's the side I sleep on most, so that doesn't help, but now that my weight is considerably less, not so much weighing down on it at night, it's heaps better. You will find that you will move around so much more during the day and that helps to give all your joints gentle, regular exercise, and then aches and pains get so much better. Good luck.

  10. Pre-op diet day #3

its getting easier. Still hungry a bit but manageable. I love BP chicken bouillon. Probably my favorite broth that I've had and it's an unlimited choice for me. But I limit it still, I don't want to get sick of it. Let's hope tomorrow is even better.

  11. Today is a new day.  I will be positive and joyful.  LOL  Now that I said that, let's see what comes my way to try and get me off of my joyful high.  My kid's behaviors, hubby not listening to me (lol), an obstacle in the way of our remodel?  I will laugh through it.  Ha! (I'll have to update later.....)

So, I'm up early on a Sat morning.  It's somewhat usual.  I'm enjoying the QUIET of the house and drinking my last iced coffee, made with Chameleon brand cold brew, almond milk (unsweetened), and a tad almond creamer, caramel flavoring.  I have been having decaf for the past month or so, but I allow one cup of regular coffee once a week.  So this is my last and I'm enjoying it. :)

Pre-op starts Monday for me.  I'm to have a shake and go pick up my pre-op paperwork from the center I'm going to.  They said it'll take about 10-15 mins to go over.  I failed to ask if that's when I make my payment or not.  I'm going to pay using my cash rewards card, even though I have the cash (will just turn around and pay it off).  Why not make money, right?  I'll be doing two shakes and a meal for two weeks.  Of course, the meal will be restricted.  Not sure about snacks though.  I'm a snacker....and that's going to be the hardest part for me.  Overall, I'm ready to get this show on the road!!!

  12. 4/27 - Went to see my PCP. I weighed in at the same weight lol. She said it was actually okay due to me having ate and drank during the day.  My blood pressure is normal and my sleeve is doing amazing. Today I cooked the following:

    1) Cauliflower cheese sticks (reduced fat cheese) - I did not like it. I will not be making that again:(.

    2) Steamed shrimp with zucchini noodles, with (1 TSP of Alfredo sauce from whole foods). The zucchini noodles were not good :(. I keep my food separated when I eat which is awesome.  I ate my 6 of shrimps and lightly dip it in the Alfredo sauce.  That was delicious.

On Saturday, I am thinking steaming me a tilapia. I went to trader joe's and purchased a wild tilapia. It is costed some money but it will be worth it (I hope). The only fish I have ever eaten that was not packaged is fried fish.

So glad you took you're weigh in lightly, that's a good positive attitude. We all get a bit too focused on the numbers going down but it's cool to take measurements from time to time too and when you see how many centimetres/inches have come off it makes up for the weight not coming down. I had 1 week where I stayed the same too but weirdly my measurements had dropped anyway. Go figure. Also if you're now moving more than you were before you will be developing some muscle which weighs more. The week I stayed the same I had done roughly 10kms power walking throughout that week so I was pissed when my dietician weighed me and I hadn't lost anything. She explained that I would have put on muscle and she did my measurements instead which was very encouraging. Keep up the good work. 🏃🏽‍♀️

Glad all is going well with your pre-op, sounds like you're doing really well. There's things that you can snack on that are yummy to eat but don't count as calories such a raw veggies and salsa dip, which I love. I can't get enough raw cauliflower, carrot and cucumber and they're not naughty, so it's a win. Keep up the good work.

i am 6 weeks post op now and life is back to normal really. I have a very small bowl that I use for every meal and it fills me up. It is about 1/4 or 1/5 of what I used to eat. I'm pretty much just eating what I cook for the family, which is healthy anyway. I have reintroduced all foods now except I now don't eat bread or cakes, biscuits etc. not much in the way of desserts now, just fruit or a low cal ice cream. I'm over half way to my goal weight, having lost 34lbs/15.5kgs. Very happy indeed.

  14. 2 weeks post op, Strictly on 700-800 calories per day but not a single pound lost in 1 week. Is this normal?

    1. Brit in Oz

      Brit in Oz

Thanks for the reassurance. I must admit I'm not drinking much water but then I figure all my shakes and soups are made with water. I'm too full to eat what I have to on the post op diet and then drink water as well. I also stopped the anti inflammatory suppositories the surgeon gave me because I feel fine but maybe I should start them up again. Weighed in this morning and finally made a loss, lost 1kg (2.2lbs) in 6 days, a little disappointing, but I'll take it. So that's 25.35lbs, (11.5kgs) in 4 weeks from start of my pre op period to 2 weeks post op. I suppose it was too good to be true to be losing at that rate and it has slowed down to a much more realistic rate. If I continue to lose 1kg per week it will take me 38 weeks to hit my goal. I can live with that.

Although I haven't gone, it doesn't really seem to be too much of a problem at the moment but I will definitely look into the options you guys suggest. Not sure if I can add anything at this stage but will call my surgeon and ask. Thanks girls.
