I am scheduled for December 11th! I am excited, but incredibly nervous. I am on day 3 of my liquid diet and hanging in there...

I have the same surgery date!
We only do a 10 day liquid diet (we are limited to 1 Protein Shake a day for the first 5 days and Clear Liquids after that), but I am on day 6. I think it has everything to do with how much Water you were retaining before you began and how much water you are drinking to flush out the bloating. If you weren't retaining much, you don't lose as much. If you don't drink lots of water, you aren't getting rid of it. I was super bloated and hormonal when I began, so I had an initial drop. However, I got dehydrated, so the scale stopped moving. I pushed a ton of water yesterday and lost 6 pounds overnight. I can already tell that water will be my big challenge after surgery!

    My surgery is the 11th.
Have you had issues with spices or seasoning?
I was considering going ahead and making/freezing some things that both I and my family already love like butternut squash Soup, crab bisque, or Tomato bisque (I make all with coconut milk because we don't do well with dairy). I'm just not sure how well we can do with spices/seasonings.
Have you successfully added unflavored Protein Powder to anything like mashed sweet potatoes/squash?
How fine are you having to puree your tuna/chicken?

I am about to have surgery and I am trying to prepare myself! I'm looking over my materials and the internet and I was hoping for a little help. I guess I am a little bit of a "foodie" and would like help identifying some recipes, food ideas and tips for adding rich flavor. I love to cook and love real, fresh ingredients. In general, I am not a person who is fond of processed foods, canned Soups, artificial sweeteners, etc. (no judgement if you do). I also need to limit my dairy. Bonus points for recipes that you have been able to successfully (and tastily) been able to add Protein to!

meltingmagnolia reacted to Shell Renewed in Layered Mexican in a Mason Jar (Purée)
    Hi All,
I was missing Mexican and so I did a variation on the tex mex recipes I've seen. It's mostly pureed but a tiny bit thick. The one tiny 'cheat' is I added a sprinkle of tex-mex cheese mix. It's not as much as it seems in the picture, maybe because it hadn't melted down yet. One of my time savers is to precook my ground beef (and my chicken, etc), puree once cooked then freeze. Then I can quickly assemble ready-made meals.
I really love using my tiny mason jars as my 4 oz Portion Control. If I finish what's in it, I'm full. They make great tiny serving dishes in the early days. Since my top priority is to avoid stretching my sleeve, this keeps me honest.
    Prep time: 2 minutes

    Fat: 10
    Protein: 14
    Sodium: 139
Layer in a 1/2 cup mason jar:
2 oz refried Beans (I used Old El Paso)
1 oz of pre-cooked, pureed lean ground beef
1 oz of thin, pureed salsa (I used Old El Paso)
A tiny sprinkle of jack or tex mex mix cheese. (I used Kraft)
    Microwave 1-1.5 minutes
Variations: If I had sour cream in the house I may have added a teaspoon of that on top of the salsa, then the cheese. If I had some avocados or guac, I may have put a teaspoon of that.
I was able to detemine the nutrition info by plugging in my recipe into Myfitnesspal. It's a great tool for that.
Tell me if you try it and if you like it
