    Vitamin Option

I like the patches from Patchmd.com Ive had good levels at 3 months and am scheduled to be checked again soon. Besides having the VSG, vitamins can get destroyed in your stomach before even being absorbed. So this method they go in through your capillaries and straight into the blood. Also, it goes in over 8 hours.

    Plastics today!!

    You look great!
  4. Sorry- after Florida I was so busy I have been off the boards. i replied above
  5. I had Dr Eric Sommer out of Ny bariatric group. I got a doctor on call. I saw he PA a few days later and she was surprised at Joan bad the rash was. As soon as I peeped the glue off it improved (within the day). I used topical benedryl during the day and oral benedryl at night.
  6. Any advice? My incisions are new (9 days post op) but if there is something I can do to reduce the appearance now and going forward? I'd appreciate the tips and tricks. The glue is still on 3 of the 5. The ones I see are very small, and I'd like to keep it that way
  7. So from day 1 I took benefiber 3 times per day and the first few day I took miralax and it just wasn't working. I was going a little, but it wasn't regular or normal. My doc said not to do miralax bc it's just not natural compared to fiber. Well the benefiber did NOTHING. last Thursday, just at the 2 week mark, I bought sugar free metimucil powder. And FINALLY, I'm normal. Every day, once or twice a day since Saturday sorry tmi but I know it's a common problem. i had VSG, so I can't do 2 teaspoons in 8 oz of Water bc you have to drink it fast- or it will thicken too much to drink. So I do 1 teaspoon in 4 oz of water. You still have to drink it quick (5-8 minutes), and then I have some clear fluids after. There are a few calories and carbs, but it is SO WORTH IT! If you are suffering, try it. I don't love drinking it, but it's only 4 oz so I just do it knowing the results!
  8. I got them on sale $17.99 for 30 day supply. Plus then the next month I used a 40% off code with an auto ship option. Ao it wasn't bad. Closer to $12 for 30 day supply. I don't need all the vitamins I got. After this month I'm going to reduce it to the multi V and the B-12. I think I panicked that I would be deficient and looking at the daily values I don't need the D/calcium. And I have a large bottle of the Biotin that you put under your tounge- so I'm just going with the 2 once I finish up with D patches I have remaining.
  9. According to my doctors office, the patients on the patch have good vitamin levels. I personally use them, but haven't gotten to the point where they test my levels.
  10. There are 2 ways, but I can only remember one. Scroll all the way down and at the bottom of the screen it says "together we have lost..." and it will have your starting weight and current weight that you can update. Happy Easter. Ok. The other way is to go the the drop down menus upper right. Click on patients. Then click my surgery. On that page will be a my surgery box. Click on that and it will have "update stats" button.

  12. Just an update.... I've been taking 1 t metimucil twice a day and I am totally normal now!! I feel so much better best stuff ever. I'm going to COSTCO to return my 2 pack of miralax and picking up the huge sugar free drink mix there.
  13. They were referring to eating 3 humans from Scotland. (Scottish peeps) as too much protien. I think. Otherwise im a bit twisted. 😳

    Cranky pants is cranky.

I DEFINITLY got snippy here and there. Especially when prepping meals for my family-lol But dont mourn the food. I watch a girl on You Tube for months now (funny though not since my op) who had "food funerals" before her operation. Like this is the last time I'll have pizza or the last time I'll have...whatever. She is a year plus out now and says that's one of her regrets. She went into the surgery thinking she could NEVER have certain things and feels now that she was looking at it the wrong way. She is very honest and had a year update where she kinda called herself out on "knowing everything" a few weeks and months into her surgery and says she has learned so much through her process. Search "made up momma". She is funny and easy to listen to. I didn't know about this site until right around my surgery. This is a great forum with experienced people, but I do like to grab a few You Tube videos. They are not all success stories. I went in knowing that this isn't a cure all. My relationship with food has to change. The relationship with my husband and I turned into revolving around food, that has to change. But you learn a lot about yourself when you see yourself in others sometimes. Shake it off and keep on going!! Do something to reward yourself. I started getting my nails done again. I used to do them only 6 times a year (give or take) and now I make a point to go twice a month. I'm not spending nearly as much on food, so why not?

Struggling to get the weight off.

Yes! I forgot water- its key to shedding pounds especially in detox. You want to flush it all out. You can get drops, or crystal lite etc, but I would try to do half of your fluids as clear water- maybe with some lemon or lime slices.
  16. Take biotin spray (dry mouth spray). The dry mouth is SO bad. and chopstick Sneakers and comfy pants (loose yoga) and a loose shirt I'm not a fan of the gown. Otherwise a hairbrush was all I needed the hospital had everything else

Struggling to get the weight off.

The sick feeling is likely detox. your body is so used to eating a certain way you are in withdrawals. Make sure your are fueling yourself with high protein 5 times a day. The small meals can help keep your blood sugar more stable (which may be causing the sick feeling). Get protein shakes for 2 of those 5 meals (I personally love the pre made premier protein shakes- COSTCO or Walmart has them). Wean yourself. That's what pre op is about. And it's about preparing for post op. This is what you will have to eat like for a very long time to get to goal. Exercise is important too. Walk or use an eliptical. Get your body prepared bc they expect you to walk literally hours after surgery and you want to be ready. I started but cutting out sugar. After a week or so I realized I was just replacing that with carbs (chips, pretzles, etc). Once I had my first appointment, I said to myself, I'm going to lose this weight with or without the surgery and really cleaned up my act. Within a couple of weeks I eliminated all carbs and caffeine and started taking vitamins. the pre-op liquid diet is VERY important for shrinking your liver. The liver lies on your stomach and they need to lift it to perform the surgery. A small liver will make it less risky. It looks like you don't have much more to lose to get you where's they want you. If you are following those liquid-diet guidelines you should be able to get that 12 pounds off before surgery. Good luck to you!

    Finally Approved!

Nice!! That was such a cool phone cal to get. I was SO surprised and elated. I felt like I won the lotto. Congratulations!
  19. I have been the same weight (was actually up a few pounds-PMS) and I have NOT cheated. I hit ALL my protien goals, my carbs are very low and I surpass my water goals. I take my vitamins and have moved a lot. I'm just getting home from vacation, literally now ( was perfect on vacation) and hoping being home in a more normal routine will break it. My three week mark is tomorrow. I normally wouldn't say ignore your doctor, but I will here. Just keep doing what you are doing and your body will catch up. update- I just weighed myself on my home scale and I'm exactly the same as when I left one week ago. Which means I may be down and pound or so in the morning. I usually weigh myself as soon as I wake up- when I'm my lowest. So I was stalled all week. I wasn't completely sure bc I was away and when I made it to my in laws, she had 2 scales. one scale had me 4 pounds UP 😱 And the other had me at about the same...

  21. Sorry for the typos- I sound like an idiot. But you get the point.
  22. I HATE most protien drinks. But I love my premier protien. Walmart has 4 packs and COSTCO has 18 11 oz bottles for lime $25. There are 5 flavors I know of. They have bananas and cream (I hate banana usuallybut this is tolerable), the vanilla is the best vanilla shake I've had (usually another think I hate) and the chocolate is definilty my favorite. I ordered the strawberry flavor on COSTCO.com (like strawberry quick) and caramel which is pretty goodness too. Thing I like is that it's smooth- not gritty or chalky. I haven't found a powder yet that I can get past 2 sips. It is a bit sweet, but you can cut it with almond milk (or any milk really- I just gave up milk bc it made me break out). The dannon oikos greek has 15 gms of protien. You can have cottage cheese. I never did it, but chocolate pudding (sugar free) with a scoop of protien powder. Lasagna bake- basically one egg and one cup of ricotta cheese with Italian seasonings on the bottom of a small glass dish. Top with sugar free (or low sugar) sauce and bake 350 for 25 minutes. I cut that into 4 servings. There are actual recipes out there for it, I just wing it, but that's the basics. Good luck! Find stuff now you like bc you won't want to have nothing when you get to the soft food stage post op.
  23. Well I'm about three weeks out, and I just ran about 1/2 mile through the airport to avoid missing my flight 😱 Then carried my 50 pound kid who passed out from the plane to the shuttle and into my car. So that counts as running and weight lifting right??? Lol so much for no lifting over 10 pounds! I have really been good about that up until now. But seriously, I don't see why you couldn't run as soon as the doctor clears you for normal activity. Mine should at my one month appointment. For me, I won't run until I lose another 30 pounds. I have bad knees and they just can't handle the weight when running. I've been up and down for years and when I ran when I was too heavy it really messed up my knees, like Beyond pain, they would lock up , etc. i will run again. Maybe a Disney 1/2 marathon next January or February
  24. Not cool is an understatement. That's exactly what happened to me. I hope the metimucil works for you too.
