Government employees/contractors
I am not sure why you would need to even fill anything out since you are traveling on your own leave time and not as a representative of the government. I am a government employee and I have both a personal passport and a government passport. I only use the gov passport for official gov travel. I had my surgery in Mexico and did not even tell my job about it. I was on annual leave so it wasn't any of their business what I was doing.

First foods after purée stage?
I think your idea of a taco with lettuce sounds pretty good. I had an easy transition and tolerated many meats as long as I chewed very well and ate slowly. You are going to fill up very quickly so remember protein first, then veggies. You shouldn't even try to eat any bread, tortilla, or other carb at this point. They wont offer you anything nutrition wise and will just fill you up.

Back to it today
For sure you can do this!! I am a firm believer in a positive attitude, it really helps. Good luck to you and your husband!

Weight loss doing great, but darn, I'm always hungry!!!
I agree sometimes when we are away from home we have to think quick and improvise. I have found that there are healthier choices almost anywhere. I never eat fast food if I have a choice, but last weekend my dh and I were in D.C. and I had to make do. We were with his family at the Air and Space museum and everyone wanted to eat lunch at the McDonald's in the museum. I didn't want to object so I ordered a grilled chicken pico guac sandwich and didn't eat the bun.

Weight loss doing great, but darn, I'm always hungry!!!
I have been listening to Dr. Matthew Weiner on YouTube. He has some very good videos. In one of his videos he talks about long term successful WLS patients and he makes some very good points. He said that if we rely on portion control without changing the types of foods we eat or our relationship with food, we will start to regain weight after 1 year. He said WLS patients should not be eating fast food. I think he even said people who think they can eat the same way they used to, but just less, are mistaken. I just thought I would share this because I think it may be helpful if you watch some of his videos. I know they have helped me.

I think you are eating too many carbs and that will fuel cravings and hunger. If you eat protein first and then non-starchy veggies you won't have room for carbs. If you are a carb addict you may need to avoid them all together.

Did anybody else's skin clear up?
My skin started to clear up when I started eating low carb back in January. It is a great side effect?

When did you start working out after VSG
I was walking 2 miles at 4 days post op. Walking is fine just listen to your body and don't over do it. Ask your doctor if you are unsure. I started a couch to 5 k running program at 5 weeks post-op. i think most people are released for more strenuous exercise by 6-8 weeks.

Post op 15 days and no weight loss
I am just a couple of weeks ahead of you with a similar starting weight. We are considered light weights and will lose slower. I have lost 23 lbs in 8 weeks and I am thrilled. Tou are doing great. Stalls are common so don't stress. Stick to your plan and just keep going.

Coffee?
I love this brand and flavor. I order from Amazon. I use unsweetened chocolate almond milk and a little ice and blend in my Ninja. This is really great.

Here I Go (My Journey Thus Far)
You are getting super close to your surgery date. I just want to wish you good luck and blessings for a safe and fast recovery. I understand your desire to keep the surgery private. I have done the same so far and only my husband and adult children know. I am not too sure about going back to work so soon, but having a desk job might make it ok. I took 2 weeks off and even though I felt really good I was glad to have the extra time to work on hydration and getting my protein in.

Well 23 More Days until sleeved
I had my surgery on May 15th. Monday will be 8 weeks and I have lost 23lbs. I weighed 233 in January and I lost 25 lbs pre-op down to 208. I am losing a little slow, but with my lower BMI it is normal. I am losing inches and I feel great! I am excited for you!

Well 23 More Days until sleeved
Not to much longer for you. I remember how excited and nervous I was the last two weeks before my surgery. Hopefully time passes quickly for you and you will take your seat on the losers bench☺️

Why does the weight loss phase end?
This is why I weigh and measure. I am one of the fast healers. I transitioned very quickly through the food stages and I can eat anything with zero issues at 8 weeks post op. I know I could eat a little more than I am, but I only eat 4oz at a meal. I was able to exercise at 2 weeks post op and was walking 2 miles a day 4 days post-op. I also wonder what this means for my success long term? I started running 3 weeks ago because I want to have a solid exercise routine in place for the long term. I am losing kind of slow, but the inches are coming off.

Bread
I tried a low card flax seed wrap a couple of weeks ago with fajitas. I ended up just eating the fajitas. The wrap was delicious but too filling. I don't think our stomachs have room for that stuff right now.

Bread
You will live trust me ...lol.. seriously bread does not have to be a part of our diets anymore. I won't be eating it anymore. There are lots of other options that are healthier.

2 weeks post op and stalled!
Almost everyone gets what is called the three week stall sometime during the first month or so. It is completely normal. I am very surprised at how many calories you are able to consume in a day. At two weeks I was right around 400, at4 weeks 600, and now at almost 8 weeks 875-900. You sound like me in that you have had an easy recovery. My stomach healed quickly and I think I. Could easily squeeze in more calories if I tried. I am working towards a gradual increase to 1000 at 3 moths and 1200 at 6 months.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Good morning! It is a beautiful Saturday here on the east coast. I wanted to share this high protein coffee shake I have been making every morning now. I mix it with a few ice cubes, 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened chocolate almond milk, and two scoops of the mix. Blend well in my Ninja and it tastes a lot like a Starbucks mocha frappachino without the whip cream. Very good and with 20g of protein and a good shot of caffeine lol.

I'm Cold?!
I have the same problem. I went from hot all the time to freezing. My dh used to get cold I had the ac set so low, now I am the one turning the thermostat up..lol crazy.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
I found this calculator for RMR and TDEE http://www.health-calc.com/diet/energy-expenditure-advanced I thought it was pretty cool because it asked you more questions about your daily activities to increase the accuracy of the calculation. It said my RMR was 1537, the health app on my phone says 1600 so pretty close.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Last night I made a Peruvian style salad that my mother-in-law showed me many years ago. This is one of my hubby's favorite meals. It is just any kind of lettuce usually 2 or 3 kinds, radishes, carrots, celery, cabbage, tomatoes, basically whatever you want. Then about 4-6 cans of tuna and usually hard boiled eggs. The dressing is 6-8 limes squeezed over it with salt and virgin olive oil drizzled liberally over all. The traditional way to serve this is over a bed of yellow rice, but I served it over riced cauliflower lol. Anyway it is a very healthy dish that could easily be served with garbonzo or lentils beans instead of the tuna for a vegetarian dish.

First day back in Zumba
I never did Zumba, but I am feeling pretty energized with the running program I have started. Maybe you need to up your protein. Are you taking your vitamins?

Finally back in the gym!!!
Congrats!!!

Is this really true???
I haven't noticed a difference, but I think poop smells bad either way.

So afraid I am going to screw this up.
Head hunger can be hard. I second the suggestion to start a new enjoyable hobby. I have chosen running which has the great side effect of helping me get fit. Stay focused on the reasons for your surgery and concentrate on developing the healthy habits that you are going to need to succeed long term. Frame everything from a positive viewpoint. Instead of thinking about what you can't eat, say to yourself I am so glad I am choosing to eat healthy foods that are nourishing my body. Seek out recipes for the types of foods/stage you are at.
