    Disgusted

It's okay to miss things, you can dwell on the loss of your dead pet, but you can't reach out and succumb to the desire to have your dead pet alive again. Missing those foods equates to focusing on them and when you focus on them, you're more likely to give into them. It's better you just miss being unhealthy and fat, but by focusing on the other bad foods you're focusing on being unhealthy and fat again. Just understand it's a lifestyle change.

How do I know they are addicts? Jump around and read other posts by the people posting questions, I'm not the only one who notices that some people will post several times about things they want to eat, that are unhealthy, or that they complain again and again how they want to eat this or that food that's bad for them. Just because someone is eating junk food and fat food - and still losing doesn't make them healthy or successful. Far from it. Not all thin people are healthy. Eventually making poor choices in food catches up to a person and takes it toll, no matter how big or small they are.

Exactly, there are so many posts about people wanting to eat unhealthy foods as little as three weeks post op. It's ridiculous.

You took offense and made this post about you. How unfortunate. If that's the truth, then you wouldn't feel so crummy about someone voicing there isn't enough healthy advice on this forum. It's not about how much we can screw up to stay on course, it's about beating bad habits that got us fat to begin with and may potentially get us fat again.
  5. Tons of exercise. Weight training and give it a year. We are all different and genetics, as well as lifestyle, determines how much skin we have and how it sits on our bodies.

    Is this normal?

You're fine, don't push. Keep going on the 1/2 cup.
  7. Eat slowly and pea sized bites. Nothing spiced. Spices can upset the tummy. If this doesn't work, call your doctor immediately.
  8. If you eat anything like that, wait for three months. But honestly, this is about making a lifestyle change. And it's awful to see people trying to eat fattening crap loaded with sugar, sweeteners, carbs, and grease. We are here to support each other and improve the issues we have, not feed into them.... No pun intended.

    Help, I'm so lost!

2 weeks liquid, so staples can heal and you don't create a tear, or risk a leak. I believe he is telling you to eat much MUCh too soon, all the doctors I spoke to said two weeks of liquid, period!
  10. You can add Protein powder to the broth, it may take some of the craving away. Also try to make by the broth from scratch, with meat and veggies, then freeze the meat and veggies - add some protein powder. It will help.

    Hugs you tight! Fantastic!
  12. You don't want to drink cold liquid, it will burn and ache. Room temperature and warm only. Small sips, about 3-4 ounces an hour. I wish you well.

    Hello

You don't want to do cold. You want to keep liquids at room temperature. It's normal for cold to hurt. I received this information from the pre-op nurses and nutritionist.
  14. I commend you for taking control of your issues in this way. And I wish you the best on your journey I did therapy for six months, best choice I ever made ~

    Need you

I can do this for you, let me know if you'd like my email or cell number. I can totally understand this, as I don't have anybody really either. There are two people in my life who care, and I can't really pound this into the ground with them. I was a gym monkey and weight trained and also know a lot about nutrition. I'll be sleeved on June 16th but they may move my date up.
  17. A lot of comments by people who didn't read the OP's question yet are so quick to slam the answers with their own, which are completely non-relevant to OP's original post.

    Can't lose weight!

She isn't a weight lifter, she doesn't need protein bars and shakes, she needs chicken and fish, small portions of roasted beef with a balance of veggies. Period.
  20. You've got this CocoNina, half the battle is being aware you've an issue. I hate suggesting this but it's worked for me, and as one person said, fighting head hunger is like alcoholism. Try OA, it's for people who struggle with food addiction, compulsive overeating, or triggers that cause one to eat. The reasons we struggle are as various as the people who struggle. If you don't like groups, try seeking counseling or therapy. Or, write in a journal (not type) what your triggers are and why you think you have them, how you feel, so you slow your mind down and recognize with clarity what you're feeling and why, and how it connects to food. The surgery is such a fantastic tool, but many of us have work to do on our heads, too. Also, try doing things with friends that don't revolve around food too, if you already don't. Create activities that will take your mind off eating, and replace the old urge to eat with a better habit. Takes time and work but one can get passed head hunger. I think protein helps aid in reduced head hunger, too as it reduces physical hunger.

Maybe try varying a little of your work out. And agree with the advice, truly a fantastic way to see the big picture.

    Genepro Safe???

'Bio Chem' due to no sugar and no fat, low sodium and also high potassium. It's 20 grams of protein and 90 calories a serving. Perfect for me.

    Booze!!

The reason the doctors tell us no alcohol is the high sugar and calorie content. Between ice cream and booze, wow. A lot of people know how to really keep a tight reign on it, but others just indulge. That's dangerous. This is a tool for me, I've cut out all the alcohol in my diet. Stopped eating sugar, period, don't do sweeteners either. I figure since I got so fat they had to cut me open, why ruin the fantastic tool I'm to be given?

Shrink my body shrink my head

Try upping protein, it staves most hunger. I think you're onto something though, if you think it's emotional hunger, it probably is. I can't say this enough, a lot of us here have had eating disorders at one time or another, maybe some still struggle with it, and generally it's a life long issue. Try support groups too. It's worth a shot. Groups like OA have all sorts of support and help to keep one accountable, plus hearing stories of others who struggle with some very similar and not so similar eating issues helps. I think that's something most Bariatric people ought to try, is addressing various food addictions. People don't gain because hey have everything under control.
