Does it really take 2 years?

I appreciate your honesty and encouragement. I know that it is just a tool. When I strictly adhere to something. I lose weight at a pretty good pace because I am still youngish but my mom's friend was in her late 60s and lost 112. I know I can do it. I just need to keep a positive attitude and I can't wait to share my successes on here a year from now!

    Anyone in Los Angeles

Hi! I am schduled to have the gastric sleeve on June 14th. Encino is not too far from Culver City. It would be nice to communicate with you through this process. I am second guessing myself about if the procedure I chose was the best one for me. I emailed my surgeon but he has not replied to me yet.
  13. May I ask why you are having a revision. I thought I was set on the sleeve but I wonder if at my BMI if it will give me the amount of weight loss that I want. I have a BMI of 51. I wonder if it is truly the correct procedure for me. Fine time for me to be questioning this!
  14. I thought I was 100 percent set on getting the gastric sleeve as it seemed to e the "least invasive." However, I have been reading up on the mini gastric bypass and I am wondering if that would be better for me. I am 5'5 a little over 300 lbs with a BMI of 51 and wonder if I will be able to get to my goal weight at that size with just the sleeve alone. I have scheduled my surgery or June 14th for the sleeve but now I am wondering if I chose the right surgery. I do not suffer from acide reflux, I don't want it and of course I want the least amount of complications possible. I also dont want to have a second surgery if one doesnt go as planned. Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
  15. Thank you both for replying. I have contacted my surgeon about it but he has not gotten back to me yet. I hope to hear from him soon. I do not suffer from GERD either. I am a second guesser in general. The rerouting the intestines thing does scare me.

    Side Effects and Complications

I am scheduled to see Dr. Illan or a gastric sleeve surgery but am now wondering if the mini gastric bypass is a better option for me. Although the rerouting of the intenstines scares me a little. I have a BMI of 51 and i dont know if the sleeve will be sufficient to take me to my goal and i dont really want to have a revision later.
  17. Hmm...I honestly can't recommend anything I am about 2 and a hal hours away. Sorry.
  18. I am in Los Angeles County. Encino to be specific (West Valley). I am going to be staying at a hotel in TJ (a nice one) that is a part of the package.
  19. I had a fun time llooking at everyone's amazing progress. I did notice that many people in their after photos who might still be considered medically overweight or even obese based on the weight they posted next to their pictures looked damn good and yes accounting for height etc and all that! I mean many definitely did not look anywhere near the weight they were. They looked much smaller but yet the scale would beg to differ. Have you noticed the same thing? Is this common with weight loss surgery in particular? I was baffled in some cases. I hope I have the same experience. I would love to look 160-170 at 200 lbs or example.
  20. Absolutely. Feel free to message me anytime. Im here to support you
  21. I had my hear set on Dr. Corvala who is an excellent surgeon. However, my only concern is that the process does not seem to be very hands on. I don't even think I am supposed to be able to talk to him until the day of surgery. Anyways not too much information has been provided for me regarding the process and I am the type of person that would need a lot of support through this process. I just need to know from other people that Dr. Illan is just as qualified because all the pre op, during and after care seems like just what I need. I have just not been able to find as much information regarding his credentials. Also, why are some bariatric surgeons more expensive than others. How many surgeries does he perorm in a day? Are the rooms private?
  22. I may have posted about this before but here I am again! I suffer from Bipolar 2 and have wondered if anyone else has who has had the gastric sleeve and how they are doing. I am having my surgery on June 14th and feel really anxious. I just hope things turn out ok. I you don't want to be public about your illness you can private message me. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
