    Connecticut - Medicaid/husky

Hi there, I am from CT and currently on Husky D/Medicaid. I started my VSG process back in Feb and finished my 6th month of nutrition just yesterday. I just started a new job today (formerly part time while finishing my MBA - graduated in May) so now that I have a full time job I'm petrified of doing all this work and losing my insurance. My surgeons office called and left me a message that my medical chart is ready to be submitted to insurance for approval by Fri -- that's in 2 days! Just praying that I get that preauth before I exceed the monthly income limit. How'd your situation turn out??

  3. Hello Everyone! This is my first time posting anything on this site, I've been watching hundreds of YouTube clips about VSG and am nervous and excited about going through the process. I would love to have a friend go alongside me who understands the struggles associated with choosing bariatric surgery. My family doesn't understand, my friends don't understand, my church would never support such a decision - so really, I'm on my own. About me: I decided after many other failed diet attempts to do VSG after a coworker of mine did it and looks PHENOMENAL! I am considered a lightweight because I'm only 218 lbs with a BMI of 38.6. I don't have any comorbidities so I've honestly been working overtime to gain the 7 lbs I need to hit a 40 BMI (don't judge me). I'm still not there yet but I've def gained weight and feel HORRIBLE!!!! I hate the way I look and feel about myself. But I'm willing to gain in order to lose. I fear getting VSG and losing too much. I don't want to be skinny, like a size 0-2 but my surgeon says African American bariatric patients who get the sleeve tend to lose less than our racial counterparts. Weird. I'd be happy with 140-145 lbs. Anywho, would love to find a friend, or "sleeve sister". God Bless You All!

Will You Be My Sleeve Sister?? 33 yr old Pre-Op from CT

Heeeey Ladies!!! I haven't been on here in FOREVER! So much has transpired since I initially created this post. Had my sleep study a week ago and found out two days later that I in fact have moderate sleep apnea - with about 18 breathing obstructions per hour. I get fitted for my cpap machine next week :/ I didn't have to gain the weight to qualify afterall. Least i know now that I'm DEF not going to be denied by my insurance. I'm still interested in sleeve sisters so hit me up!!! torriaaustin @gmail.com I'm still addicted to youtube and have been getting a lot of support from the various clips. Congrats to all those who've recently gotten their sleeve!!! And those who've received their surgery date!!! I have two more nutrition classes to complete before they submit me for approval. Can't come fast enough! Lets see what else, I had my psych eval last month and was cleared for surgery - stressed out over that for nothing. I graduated with my MBA on Sunday, 5/21 and my "boyfriend" didn't show up. Uhhh yeah, he's out my life for good now. We dated on/off for almost 6 years, I was head over heels in love with him and hoped to marry him but I'm realizing I need someone who cherishes me and supports me equally the way I cherish and support him. Sucks but I'm glad it happened now before I lost all the weight. I feel he'll try and come around once he sees my extreme transformation - which would be a major turnoff. Uh no...anyway, let me know how life has been treating you these days/weeks/months!!! <3

Thanks for the encouragement, prayers and continued support iduncan! I keep thinking about the scripture that says, "If your arm offends you, cut it off" as justification for my surgery. My stomach has been a constant offense to me down through the years lol. Pray all goes well with you as you begin your journey too! <3
