  1. I was on liquids for 1 week. By day 2 I was having water, protein, and chicken broth. Today I am 1 week post op and have moved to puréed. I can't fathom eating puréed meats so I'm on yogurt, applesauce, and sugar free pudding for 2 weeks.
  2. I am using unflavored isopure protein. It's not bad.
  3. The anesthesia for endoscopy isn't bad. It's not full on general anesthesia like you will have for the actual surgery. It's a twilight anesthesia. You'll be completely out of it and wake up in recovery but it's much easier to handle than general in my opinion.
  4. Hang in there. I'm 7 days post op and the liquid diet sucked for the first 5 or so days. After that, I felt great, had a ton of energy and wasn't even hungry. It'll get better.
  5. Report was faxed to my surgeon within 2 business days.
  6. I am 1 week post op and absolutely cannot imagine having gone home that same day. No way.
  7. I have the same problem and also recently took a long flight. Like the other poster said, alternate putting the little airline pillow under you. It really helped me to wedge it between the seat and my tailbone to remove some of the pressure. Aisle seat was key for me.
  8. The intense stinging pain from my largest incision where I have a big indent in my stomach. It's a very intense stinging/burning feeling whenever I move that just started. A lot of what I'm reading says it's normal, just sucks because I'm so ready to make some progress.
  9. I'm 7 days post op and today's been my worst day yet
  10. I'm 6 days post op. I'd been feeling pretty good the last couple days but feel like I went totally backwards today. Bad stinging pain in my indented incision. Really hope to turn the corner soon.
  11. I'm 6 days out and cannot wait to feel better and have energy. It's nice to see people say to hang in there and it'll happen soon!
  12. I had surgery last Wednesday and went home Thursday. Friday and Saturday I would walk a few circles around my house each time I got up to use the restroom. I couldn't do more than that. Sunday I took my first walk outside, probably about a quarter mile. I hope by this upcoming weekend I can do more.
  13. Once I got insurance approval, I met with the scheduler and picked my own date. I had a work trip to plan around and it was no issue at all
  14. I'm currently 5 days post op. I could have gone back to work today but am waiting another week.
  15. I packed so much for the hospital and didn't touch any of it. Just comfy clothes to go home in. At home, a recliner to sleep in has been essential as well as a good stock of premier protein shakes and crystal light to flavor the endless water. I'm 5 days post op.
  16. I had my surgery Wednesday morning. Was allowed ice chips immediately. Had leak test at 6:30pm and was allowed water immediately after. Started protein shakes the next morning.
  17. I was and did not have a catheter. The anesthesia (or shock from surgery) shut my system down and my period stopped. I'm 5 days post op and it hasn't resumed. I was spotting heavy morning of surgery and was supposed to start more and never happened. Likely from the stress.
  18. I had surgery last Wednesday and had the same thoughts. I was so excited, but started bawling when my surgeon came to talk to me pre-op. I'm day 5 post op now and easily getting all my fluids in and the heartburn I had before my hernia repair is gone. I'm off all pain meds. I'm sore but feel good.
  19. I'm on 2 weeks of post op blood thinner injections and bruising a lot. The back of my calves are bruised just from having my legs up in my recliner.
  20. I'm 5 days post op and on liquids. Honestly, I'm not even interested in anything else. It's easier to not want food than I thought it would be.
  21. I could breathe fine on my own, but not deeply. I was using the incentive spirometer but was not getting it nearly as high as they wanted. I spent a really long time in post op recovery before going to my room because I couldn't breathe deeply enough. The concern with shallow breathing is developing pneumonia post-anesthesia. That being said- I had heartburn every day every from water before surgery and haven't had it all all in the 5 days since.
  22. I am clear liquids for 1 week (sleeved 4/12), then will go to purées which includes yogurt, sf pudding, applesauce, etc
  23. She is less than a month out of major surgery, not your business. She is still recovering.
  24. I had surgery Wednesday and went home Thursday. I've spent the last 3 nights in a recliner. I'm still definitely not ready for getting into my bed.
